My 280i SSDT model has a problem with the electrical system somewhere. It cuts out in stages when it is hot.... First the top and mid end goes and then after limping around on low revs for about 2 minutes the engine cuts completely. It is impossible to start until it has cooled for maybe 5 minutes and then it starts as normal on the first or second kick. Subsequent to that it runs normally on either map until it has heated up.....the same sequence after a shorter time. I feel it is in the left hand engine case as it started after a shorter interval after I poured half a bottle of water over it. The problem happens after exactly the same interval after starting riding and…

Hi My friends Ossa TR280i started to smoke real bad and was running poor when trying to accelerate. It was perfekt on idle, but as soon as the engine got some resistance it started to smoke and was misfiring. The smoke was white/greyish. New sparkplug did not make a difference. The cylinder head gasquet is ok, and the radiator coolant level is also ok. When i say smoke real bad, i mean enough to get waterbombed by a fire department helicopter. I can only think of two things, something electric, maybe with the fuel injection or perhaps the gearbox oil is entering the cylinder somehow. But the oil level seems to be ok as well. Its a 2 month old year 2012 bike. Any thou…

I heard a rumor at a trials meet last weekend that KTM may be having a look at buying OSSA, can anyone confirm? I'd sure like to see them stay alive.

  5. My TR280i came with those short custom made levers installed by the previous owner: I really like the feel on them and after also doing some research those are very custom made levers made by Finnish premium manufacturer, you can't even buy them anywhere (special order only). Aside from very good feel what I really like about them is they don't pressure all of my fingers like the normal long levers do (and especially annoying and loss of feel when the lever messing with my wedding ring, but with those Take-Pajas are perfectly designed for 1 or 2 finger use without touching the third or forth when pushed down) But makes me a…

Right now to shift into first with the clutch lever pulled, it sort of snaps into gear. Here are my questions: I read where it says that I should have 1/16 inch of play at the clutch lever on the case. I have 1/8 inch. Should I adjust this down to 1/16 inch? If so, how do I keep the clutch from turning while I loosen the clutch adjusting nut. Also, how much play should I have at the clutch lever? If I have the correct play at the lever on the case, is this the play that I should have at the hand lever? Also, my idle might be a little high. So, is my current 1/8 inch OK and I just need to get the idle down? Thanks for any help on this.

Great day today took delivery of my OSSA 2013 factory Bike has the latest capacitor easy start system installed and fired up on the 3rd kick out of the shipping crate. I got to spend about 2 1/2 hours on the bike today and so far I am liking it lots. First impression is that it is very different power and overall tighter feel than I am used to with my 2004 Sherco 2.9. It's power is very crisp and snappy yet rock steady and solid way down low. I find it much easier to control lofting the front end around and it's easier to hop over logs or anything else than with the Sherco due to the near instant throttle response. Like the no fuel petcock, no choke just fire …

Have totally stripped the bike down to the frame for powder coating but still have the fuel pump to remove. It seems to have quick connectors on the fuel lines but I have no idea how to separate them. Anyone know how?

Disclaimer; As a newer novice rider I am painfully aware that this bike is way, way more bike than I need or can make proper use of. To be honest, I just don't care, the more I learned about it the more I felt like I had to have one. I will keep riding and I will keep getting better. I am a huge technology junkie and I really appreciate the engineering I see on this bike. You folks here seem to like them plenty, I have a few questions. This bike is supposedly a limited edition as well, does that mean anything at all or are all 'factory' models limited editions? What upgrades does the factory version have that the regular bike does not, is it lighter, how much? 300…

I have a 1974 Ossa MAR. If it sits for any period then the kick start lever will not kick freely to clear the clutch. I let it sit for days with the clutch lever clamped to disengage the clamp. It still doesn't kick free so I read on this board some time back that one way of dealing with this problem is to put the front wheel up against the wall and then start the bike. I did this and even though the clutch was not free, when I started the bike it ran as if the clutch was disengaged. What am I missing here? I need to take it somewhere to ride it and do any shifting so I haven't (I'm 73 yrs old so lots of trial and error is hard work). With it up against the wall with…

Can anyone fill in a few details on the Whitlock Ossa. (or were they sold as a Gollner Ossa?) Was it only a frame kit of were complete bikes sold? What was the colour scheme on the fuel tank? Standard Ossa or something different. The ones I have seen are a dark blue. Did they have any other mods apart from the frame. Cheers.

On the OSSA MAR / TR77 brake pedal cross shaft where the chain tensioner pivots a pin is required, should this be a roll pin or something else maybe with a head to secure the chain tensioner spring? Can the rear brake pedal be installed and removed with the engine in the frame. Never having previously owned an OSSA and starting with a basically good but partially dismantled bike the reassembly raises a few questions so any assembly hints and tips you have will be welcome. Thank you all.

Hi again. Got part throttle fluffyness on 75 MAR250. Amal carb. Had it apart, done all needle heights, all possible air screw combinations, never right. Air screw fully in gives nice no throttle type torque. At full throttle all OK, just on part futtt splutter. Never stalls, always starts first time. No air leaks, although compression when kick starting seems a little easy. 50 to 1 synthetic. Thinking of a Mikuni carb from Inmotion. Any input appreciated. Thanks

I have a 72 OSSA MAR. I just got it and it ran pretty good. I knew I was going to slosh the gas tank but thought I could run it a bit before the slosh came in the mail, etc. In short, I ran it one weekend and the throttle was sticking pretty bad so I knew it was time. I sloshed the tank with Caswell epoxy coating and while the slosh was setting up (total bike sat was two weeks) I cleaned the carb which had lots of fiberglass goo but is now spotless. Also the plug had a thin fiberglass film baked on. Now new plug, clean carb and it won't even cough. Before it at least tried to start first kick. Do you think that goo is causing some problem with the rings or what. …
