I has recieved today paperwork from Beta UK which I believe is the certificate of newness (I think)? I now need to get the necessary V5 registration paperwork now for proof of ownership and insurance purposess but are not sure of the next step. Can any of you helpful TC people advise me of the procedure here? Thanks

Like many it appears; I have been through the get the bike insured TPF&Theft so I can register or tax it . Like many,... I suspect,,, I can't understand why my Evo is not recognised by the competitive search engine type insurers) and even when after trawling around for best deal with a broker/ insurer who will issue cover it seems I have to put up with them listing the bike as a grey import. I recall somebody saying it was something to do with the insurers having an ABI number for the particular model. Is this so? What is it? and (most importantly for those of us who want competitive quoting all in one place) How do we get this done by the insurers. We know the bikes…

I have a slightly technical question regarding the rules for MOTs. My bike was first registered as new in May'07, and is currently taxed I think until June'10, after which I will have to go through the hassle of getting it MOT'd in order to tax it. Does anyone know if I SORN it now, and then re-tax it before it comes up to it's 3rd birthday, then the tax disc will run for another year before I have to get it MOT'd? (e.g if I re-tax in April'10, will run to April'11 when it will be nearly 4 years old?) Reason is I only plan to keep it about a year and I'm looking for the least hassle way to extend the taxed status a bit longer. Or. legally should a vehicle over 3 years old…

Went to insure Gert couple of weeks ago ready for the Vic on the 3rd and realised the old gal is now 3 years old and in need of an MOT Never had a Trials bike long enough to need one so abit of problem to get sorted asap and I had no real idea what needed doing to the bike. Popped into a local bike shop to me and asked what was what, and they said a daytime MOT for a trials bike was the way to go as you dont need any lights on the bike at all even a brake one. Just collected new EVO 200 2010 ha ha! dead chuffed.......Can anybody reccomend good (including best price) insurer to get road tax who might just recognise Make model etc. Just spoke to my current insurer (... broker called Aquote.. who had previosly insured my rev3 200 who in turn put the bis with Norwich Union..fully comp 85 quid last year I am ancient!....) They went through usual stuff called the underwriters etc who came up with 165 quid and a lot of huffing about racing off road use etc. So is ther somebody out ther who wants to insure my bike against theft from most secure garage ever and maybe 500 miles a year at top speed of say 60 mph?

As the title says who do you insure your evo with? My current broker does not recognise it and said to go to Norwich Union direct. Which I have done but I need a couple of quotes before I commit. Wasn't there an ACU linked scheme or am I imagining that? Thanks Dave

Good morning. I'm planning to go a bit further to a few trials this winter, and wondered how to get legal for the road between sections, rather than load the trailer up each time. I'm buying a new bike, so can register it and I have a full bike license. Questions: Is there any special registration catagory for a competition machine, or is it just like any other bike? Will I need a proper size number plate? How much is road tax for a 300cc machine - probably doing less than 100 miles a year? Where's a good place to get road insurance for a trials bike - I suppose 3rd party is all I need? Are there any legal exemptions to save all of the bother? Many thanks

Dear Anyone, Apologies if this has been covered before but I've searched the forum and been all over the MOT, DOT and DVLA web sites and can't get anything that gives a clear answer. I want to ride my 1983 Sherpa T on the road. its never ever been registered so I will have to get a V5. I only want to use it during daylight hours. I opnly want to use it for short "hops" between off road sections/lanes etc Registering the bike; As far as I can make out it is clearly a trials bike and thus its exempt from the ECWTA and SVA so I can register it with DVLA as exempt. I'm trying to get my SWM on the road to have a crack at some of the Sammy Miller rounds. It seems for older bikes, Carole Nash is generally regarded as about the best bet. So, having tried to get a quote online and failed as "SWM" doesn't appear in their drop down menu, I decided to call them up. Now, this is not the first time I have rung someone for an insurance quote in the last 47 years....but was certainly the only time that I have felt I was being tucked up before we even started.
