Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

Does anyone know which insurance companies will insure a trials bike for road use that is on a type approved daytime MOT. Any leads appretiated. Note I've already tried Bennets and Carole Nash Regards John

Anyone here insure their bike for on the road use and theft, if so who do you insure it with and what does it cost? Mines already road registered and currently SORN. Obviously I'm not looking to actually ride it around on the road but insurance would be handy for a bit of green laning or if it ever gets stolen from my garage.

Got my MOT booked for saturday on my 2007 sherco 290. Been sorting things out, got a horn (looks like something off my baby's walker), paperwork ready and done bearings as they had a little play in them, spoke to the bloke in garage and he said he'll cut me some slack with the number plate as he knows its near impossible to hang a full size one off the mudguard. But im a bit worried about tyres. Which tyres are road legal. I got dunlops that say competition use on them, so obvious these are not. anyone got info on some road legal tyres???????

can anyone tell me what is needed on a trial bike for the mot in the way of lights and horn i have a log book. but i have herd so many different stories im just confussed and dont know whats needed and whats not.thanks.

The DVLA guidance notes for registering a vehicle in 2012 (form V355) said: Competition motorcycles are excluded from the EU type approval system (vehicles intended for use in competition, on roads or in off-road conditions) Directive 2002/24/EC Article 1. Hello All - New to the forum. Getting back into trials after a long break. Just about to start a full rebuild of a 1976 Montesa Cota 246 with my 11 year daughter in the hope of dragging her off social media for at least an hour a night! Ideally I would like to road register the bike in the UK. The frame and engine numbers match. I am familiar with how to obtain a v5. Its the Montesa bit that concerns me. I am guessing obtaining paperwork for a 1970s bike will be a challenge. Any guidance would be appreciated. Best wishes Moray

Does anyone know the procedure for registering a never-registered bike? I've got a Bultaco Sherpa T M92 I want to get a V5C for. The DVLA website tells me to " get form V765 endorsed by a vehicle owners club" - can't find a Bultaco owners club! Apparently getting a V5C was easy til recently...

I have reached the stage of giving up my Kawasaki ZXR in favour of something smaller and lighter, and as i owned a Montesa Cota 247, and ran it on the road (about forty years ago ! ) i thought that this would be the way to go. Been looking to insure my new Gas Gas (not yet picked up) for fire & theft from home as it will be worth £5k+. I tried Carole Nash off road insurance and they won't insure anything over £5k at all. I can't find anyone else. MSM only cover road registered bikes but I don't need to register it on the road and doing that will also make it more expensive as I'll have to tax it as well as register and insure it. Anyone else do off road theft insurance?

Will cops now start targeting road trials. Heard reports from a couple of rider's, that a cop just happen to be passing a road trial last month and he decided to pull everyone that came out the farm track on to the road. Did them for small number plates and tyres not for road use. If true, it could be the thin end of the wedge and it may give them the idea to set up outside these trials for easy money. Anyone heard about it or was it just a rumour.
