Road Legal, MOT, Insurance etc

Hello all, Can you all please share how big your number plate is? How is it attached (stuck to mudguard, on a bracket)? Have you had any issues if it's a non legal size? I know how big they should be but its just not that practical. Ideally I just want a sticky one to stick to the rear mudguard but before I made a purchase I thought I would see what you are all using to get an idea. Thanks fellow riders. Chris.

Hi, I know the topic has been covered many times but I have road registered a used Gasser before with no problems but this is different and the DVLA are gettings on my t*%s! The bike is less than three years old and has not been road registered before. The story so far!! Certificate of newness and proof of import tax (VAT 414) obtained from importer John Lampkin's V55/5 completed (stating bike is non homologation) and all necessary paperwork above along with insurance certificate, driving license, proof of address were submitted to the Chester DVLA office. A bit of a whimsical question really. I was watching the video of the Scottish trials and there was some main road riding between venues. I was just wondering how far a field people have been on the road, to or between trials?

I have a bike that in 99.9% sure i registered, the chap i got the bike from told me that he never recived the V5 and never chased it as he only used the bike off road, the bike has also done the scottish so there is a good chance a V5 for the bike is floating round in someones draw. As i dont know the reg number can i still apply with a V62? or is there another way to find out, i cant get dvla on the phone the are ALWAYS too busy

I've lost my V5C and can't remember the registration number. I've downloaded a V62 form to get a replacement V5C, but can't answer what the registration number is... that's why I was looking for the V5C to make a new number plate. I've spoken to the DVLA and they said I can fill in a form to find out if the bike has previously registered, but that could take 8 to 12 weeks for them to do a search. Anyone know how I can find the registration number a bit quicker?

Hello all. Just wanted to share a bit of info with regards insurance. I have been looking to insure my Sherco 290 (road registered) once I completed my bike licence. I called all the various 'speacialist' companies whos names crop up around these parts when you search for insurance guidance. All in all it was a pretty dissapointing experience up until this week. The company I was most dissapointed with was Carol Nash. After just having my 2006 Sherco 290 nicked, thinking about getting a replacment bike. I say thinking because I just can't bare the thought of loosing another £1000-1500. (And I know they'll be back.) So I reckon insurance is the only way forward. Anyone got any advice? I know Carole Nash do a theft only policy for off-road bikes and had a quote for a shade over £100, which seems ok. I may end up wanting to do one of the big trials for which I hear its best to have a road-reg bike. I assume this means it needs to be taxed too and I assume proper road bike insurance will be needed to get it taxed; so wondering if a normal motorbike policy would be better. Only prob I see…

I need to renew my insurance for my road registered Beta Evo 250 2T. I was with Bennetts for my Beta Techno 250 but apparently they cannot get me insurance for my Evo. Who do you use? Any recommendations? Thanks in anticipation.

Can anyone recommend an insurance policy for my kids bikes? The bikes are not road legal or registered and never will be. The kids haven't passed any tests nor do they have a no claims bonus, they're 13 & 8. The bikes won't be going anywhere near a road except on the trailer. We just need them insuring in case of theft from storage. All the policies that I've looked at so far require the bikes to be road registered or SORNed and/or the rider to have a licence. The bikes are a Rev3 125 and a GG TXT70. Hi all, New to the sport and the site but hoping to have my own bike by mid Jan, so been doing my homework on vans and now looking at insurance for the bike! I'm having issues trying to get quotes to cover the bike as I don't have a bike licence and wasn't planning on getting one either. Can anyone on here that doesn't have a bike licence and has a non registered bike let me know what you do for insurance?
