Want to get a new Evo for the missus.. new bike lady driver 50+ never claimed anything ..bike locked up inside locked up inside locked up inside locked up.. less than 300 miles a year mostly away from other traffic....(observing SSDT) want theft and 3rd party insurance. Hi All, Just after some advise on the current situation and if anyone had been in the same situation as myself. I had a Bete Evo 300cc 2015 Trials bike stolen in September 2016, this was insured through a well known high street insurer. When insured the trials bike I explained that it was for off road use and had no v5 or any road lights. Plus also no key for ignition. The trials bike was used for off road practice and competition. When the trials bike got stolen I went through the general routine ie informing police, issued with crime number and also informing the Insurance company. Does anyone know of an insurer who will insure a bike on the frame number for a short period to register the bike. When it is registered I will be able to put on a classic policy with other bikes but they will not insure on the frame number only. I know C Nash will do it on the frame number but I don't want a 12 month policy with them. Thanks...

As it says in the title! I wanted to road register my bike so I could insure it tpf&t, I'm not that interested in riding it on the road. Maybe the odd road trial and a few local green lanes. I sent the V55 Application form off with insurance, MOT and a letter from Steve Saunders (who has been very helpful) stating that when the bike was imported (in 2012), the NOVA system was not in place. I also note that Steve Saunders has supplied a V267 (Declaration that a vehicle is new) to the DVLA since my original application. I can only assume the DVLA asked him for this themselves. Hi all, I'm looking to register my TY. I've contacted Yamaha, they cannot provide any details as the factory records no longer exist. They have suggested contacting an owners club to obtain age verification? I have emailed DVLA with details downloaded from web sites, to confirm age ranges, these are not acceptable to them as proof of age Does anyone have any ideas how I can get proof of age?

Hi Chaps. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on my SORN situation? I've just bought a bike that was SORN'd by the previous owner. When we filled out the V5 for change of ownership I'm pretty certain that he ticked the 'currently SORN'd' box. My question is, do I need to do anything to keep it SORN'd (I'm not going to use it on the road)? And, how do I know that the DVLA will not fine me or do something else horrible to me if I've not filled out a SORN form as the new owner if that was what I'm supposed to do?? The DVLA website isn't that helpful in clarifying my situation, so hopefully collective knowledge/experience will be able to help me out?! Cheers, Ray

Hi all, Nearly got the old M27 ready for a first firing so starting to think about getting the original reg number back. All I have documents wise is tax discs up to 1980 in tatty condition and the rear number plate with just the outline of the lettering which has long since peeled off. Photo attached. I understand I will need to get an owners club to sign off that the bikes genuine but theres no Bultaco owners club so who do I go to? Anybody got advice on the pitfalls and perils I face? Like many it appears; I have been through the get the bike insured TPF&Theft so I can register or tax it . Like many,... I suspect,,, I can't understand why my Evo is not recognised by the competitive search engine type insurers) and even when after trawling around for best deal with a broker/ insurer who will issue cover it seems I have to put up with them listing the bike as a grey import. I recall somebody saying it was something to do with the insurers having an ABI number for the particular model. Is this so? Hi everyone, I'm looking at getting my new evo insured for theft. It's road registered as the dealer offered to sort all that out for me and i figured it may be best in the long run. At the moment I only want insurance for theft etc. My plan was to SORN it as soon as the paperwork comes through. I spoke to Carol Nash today who said I need an MOT to insure it as it's road registered. Not sure if this is the case however if i sorn it? Can anyone confirm as i don't want to pay out for an MOT if not necessary! Thanks Hugh

Hi from a new member I'm going to buy a bike shortly and I've got my eye on a couple at a localish shop but they're both road registered. As I'm not going to ride on the road at all I want to avoid any unnecessary hassle, so what is involved in buying a bike with a V5? Do I just fill out the V5 as a SORN and nothing else? Cheers

I have been asked if I would stand for the committee on my club (happy to). One of the debates about the new ACU website was about the event insurance - so checking people are ACU members with a valid licence. With no plastic card this is difficult for the organisers on the day. One of the current committee has suggested looking at AMCA membership. I would like to know what is the general view about the ACU insurance? Do people think they are insured whilst riding a trial and what do they think they are covered for? Just collected new EVO 200 2010 ha ha! dead chuffed.......Can anybody reccomend good (including best price) insurer to get road tax who might just recognise Make model etc. Just spoke to my current insurer (... broker called Aquote.. who had previosly insured my rev3 200 who in turn put the bis with Norwich Union..fully comp 85 quid last year I am ancient!....) They went through usual stuff called the underwriters etc who came up with 165 quid and a lot of huffing about racing off road use etc. So is ther somebody out ther who wants to insure my bike against theft from most secure garage ever and maybe 500 miles a year at top speed of say 60 mph?

Bike in for an MOT tomorrow and trying to work out how best to attach the plate? I have a legal (9"x7") plate and a smaller plate for off road use. The MOT tester is pretty off-road friendly, so hopefully they'll cut me some slack in this regard. Looking at the rear mudguard (Beta Rev 3 4T) , I can't see it taking the weight of the standard plate without dropping it onto the tyre. I guess I'll have to make up a bracket and secure it to the top of the mudguard where the plastic is a bit more substantial. Any other ideas?

Does any one know where i can insure my classic trials bikes against theft? i dont have a road liscence so cant get insurance under that all i want is to be able to put my classic off road bikes under my home insurance but alas i cant find a company which will allow me to do it. any help much appreciated james

Good morning. I'm planning to go a bit further to a few trials this winter, and wondered how to get legal for the road between sections, rather than load the trailer up each time. I'm buying a new bike, so can register it and I have a full bike license. Questions: Is there any special registration catagory for a competition machine, or is it just like any other bike? Will I need a proper size number plate? How much is road tax for a 300cc machine - probably doing less than 100 miles a year? Where's a good place to get road insurance for a trials bike - I suppose 3rd party is all I need? Are there any legal exemptions to save all of the bother? Many thanks

Ok, so I know that in the UK you officially need a horn and a motorbike-sized number plate for daytime running on the road, and in France you're ok with an LED front and tail light (brake light too?), and a mini number plate (not sure about horn) ... what about in Spain? What's the minimum equipment for a trials bike to be 100% legal?
