I beleive I read somewhere recently that, if you passed your driving test in the days where you were then given a complementary full moped licence, then there is norequirement to do a cbt test. Although this is not a widely known fact. can anyone confirm this is the case?

Got a 71 M80 Bultaco Sherpa project on the go. If I want to register it with an age related page I'm thinking I'm best to do it before restoration so that it is clearly original. As it's over 40 years old it should be tax and MOT exempt but can you register the bike without these or do you still need them for first registration? Cheers.

I need to renew my insurance for my road registered Beta Evo 250 2T. I was with Bennetts for my Beta Techno 250 but apparently they cannot get me insurance for my Evo. Who do you use? Any recommendations? Thanks in anticipation.

In May of this year any vehicle over the age of 40 will no longer require tax or MOT. So how will this change the process of registration for older machines? At the moment for a 1977 Bultaco Sherpa for instance, your require MOT to start the process, will this change?

Hello All - New to the forum. Getting back into trials after a long break. Just about to start a full rebuild of a 1976 Montesa Cota 246 with my 11 year daughter in the hope of dragging her off social media for at least an hour a night! Ideally I would like to road register the bike in the UK. The frame and engine numbers match. I am familiar with how to obtain a v5. Its the Montesa bit that concerns me. I am guessing obtaining paperwork for a 1970s bike will be a challenge. Any guidance would be appreciated. Best wishes Moray

I am well aware this has been done to death and I have scoured the postings to date. situation is this: I purchased a Bultaco 198A about 9 years ago, it was purchased secondhand from a private individual, can't remember exactly but about £300 I think. to the best of my knowledge it has never been registered. I want to register it, so the MoT is booked, should pass, (it had a pre-mot check last week), I have been asked to put a reflector on it. I have ordered the V55/5 form from the DVLA Dating cert from in-motion has been recieved. insurance quotes saved awaiting use! my first question, do I need a NOVA1? I started to complete this but once i got to the section a…

Can anyone recommend an insurance policy for my kids bikes? The bikes are not road legal or registered and never will be. The kids haven't passed any tests nor do they have a no claims bonus, they're 13 & 8. The bikes won't be going anywhere near a road except on the trailer. We just need them insuring in case of theft from storage. All the policies that I've looked at so far require the bikes to be road registered or SORNed and/or the rider to have a licence. The bikes are a Rev3 125 and a GG TXT70. Any help gratefully received, I feel like I'm on borrowed time without it and did lose a couple of bikes a while back and the missus is still giving me earache about…

Went to insure Gert couple of weeks ago ready for the Vic on the 3rd and realised the old gal is now 3 years old and in need of an MOT Never had a Trials bike long enough to need one so abit of problem to get sorted asap and I had no real idea what needed doing to the bike. Popped into a local bike shop to me and asked what was what, and they said a daytime MOT for a trials bike was the way to go as you dont need any lights on the bike at all even a brake one. Must have a full sized number plate though which was 9 quid (cheaper than i thought) and I pinched a rear reflector bracket off laddo's pushbike to mount it to the mudguard (worked well) Bike must also have a re…

Might be just me who is ignorant of SORN rules, but just in case; Bought a bike last October, was told it was SORN`ed.Heard nothing since from DVLA. Got it Insured and Mot`d last month, came to tax it and DVLA tell me SORN doesn`t transfer with change of ownership so a gap has appeared on their records, and a fine is due. Just had to write grovelling letter to local Taxation office to hopefully avoid fine, stating obviously that I wasn`t trying to avoid duty as tax exempt.. Should have done what the local criminals/joy riders do, and not bothered registering it in my name?

Hi, I know the topic has been covered many times but I have road registered a used Gasser before with no problems but this is different and the DVLA are gettings on my t*%s! The bike is less than three years old and has not been road registered before. The story so far!! Certificate of newness and proof of import tax (VAT 414) obtained from importer John Lampkin's V55/5 completed (stating bike is non homologation) and all necessary paperwork above along with insurance certificate, driving license, proof of address were submitted to the Chester DVLA office. DVLA Chester contact me by phone and advise me they require the bike to be inspected but I advise them that the…
