DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE, he mentioned the old dreaded "pop and die" thing that has affected nearly every fourstroke trials bike (with a carb) that I've been on. Do you get this with the Montesa, with it being fuel injection and all??

Hi Chaps, I have a twin shock Bultaco 199b that I have totally restored, my son and I have practiced on it most days (lack of work) and a lot of enthusiasm as we are new to this world. From the start, my son is very good so I thought I would upgrade to a newer bike. I would love a four stroke, can you guys give me advice? Will this work for my son and me to have fun on? And maybe for him to compete on? Also can you tell me the pros and cons? Many thanks. Martin

Hi, My parents bought me a JCM trails bike for christmas, but i am struggling to work out what the order of the gears are; are they all down? or one down and four up? Any ideas would be grateful Happy Christmas

A lot of people seem concerned about the volume of the new breed fourbanger pipes,dont any of you ride when there is a pre 65 class? You colud hardly call a triumph trophy or a cub for that matter quiet,but the noise they create is marvelous,I cant wait for a new banger (still wringing the kneck off my scorpa 125 f,poor thing,i am 17 stone)

Reading posts about the new Beta due to be unveiled soon, makes all brands but GG with a four stroke in the works. Any news when it will become mandatory for the world championship ? I don't think Beta are getting the jump on Sherco DP, the 3.2 is one hell of a machine to ride, had it's initial problems, I was able to get mine performing, and the factory will no doubt be on top of the job, Fuel injection isn't beyond any of the factories, it may be the cost it adds to the price of the bike that may be the big factor, you get a good bike with the Mont, but you do pay extra for it. How well do the montys start ? my sherco is really random, one trial it will go all day first or second kick then for no apparent reason it will flood or pop and take bloody loads of kicks to start. This happened three times yesterday then calmed down for the last lap. does the fuel injection stop this?

Kon nichiwa/Hola You know how it is. There are some places that you know the name of, and are really quite familiar with, but you dont actually know where the hell it is! Dewsbury Its happened to me once before. Id accepted a career promotion (in a previous life) to Carlisle and the only thing I was reasonably sure about was that it was north of where I was working at the time! So why Dewsbury? Well, as a dyed in the wool four stroke fan, the only bikes to consider when I started were Sherco, Beta and Montesa. Is it just me or did I miss something birkett said in the test and I quote "..........the suspension was working well especially the rear after the 315r which never did have the best back suspension." Funny how we always get these 'birkisms' last years bike was crap/ let water in/ had wrong gearing/etc but never mentioned the suspension on the mont in the last 6 years anyway as being anything other than ok. The rear unit is adjustable aswell and as far as most fair minded people say its quite good isn't it?

Different Strokes

The fuel tank on the 4t is only just over two liters but it does seem to use quite a lot Has anyone worked out if the new four bangers are really thirsty What about the honda? How much does a 290 2t use on an average trial? I have been on reserve a few times and run right out once i recon reserve is about 10cc watch out

Now then, is that what you expected? (front page photos of new Mont) I expected not to like the look but am pleasently surprised. If doesn't look any bigger or for that matter much heavier than the Montesa 2T. The frame design looks early gas gas but in Aluminium. I guess the frame had to get smaller in dimension to keep the whole thing small.

First thing I did was take the kill switch off, nothing...not even a pop. There's no spark at the plug. Tried new plug and cleaning earth and connections on coil...nothing. I had done one lap of sections, refilled fuel, couple more sections completed. then stopped to walk a section and would not start...not a pop. Not found anything on a search, I guess they usually don't go wrong much. Is there anything that commonly goes wrong wrong on older bikes? mine is the first 05 model.

Want to see a groundbreaking new 4 stroke mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My wife has a GG 200Pro, and loves the thing. However, she has one real problem with it. And she'd KILL me if she knew I was divulging her secret here. But I'm gonna anyway. The problem is her short, girly legs don't have the strength to start the stupid thing, especially when cold. She was fine with her old '96JTR 270, but with the smaller bore 175cc there is a marked increase in compression it seems. Couple that with a shorter kickstart lever AND shorter distance that lever travels, well, I am often pressed into service to press that lever into service. This annoys, frustrates, embarasses and humiliates her no end. She's done a stretch of leg strengthening exercise…

Hi guy's, very friendly greetings from Germany. I like your Forum very much. We have nothing like this here in Germany. I took my 4Rt from my dealer last friday. The bike is brilliant. Very easy to ride, a lot of power. My last five bikes were been all Betas. Different to the Beta is, that I drive the 4 Rt much more in the first gear. The sound of the 4 Rt is a little bit too loud, when you turn the throttle for speed. Best regards, Thomas

Ishy, this would be a good one for you to answer. You still have yours right? Always wanted one, but wonder what they would be like to ride. A guy as old as me could even drop down and ride in the senior class with one of those thumpers!
