Montesa

Changing my fork seals on my 2003 Mont. The left leg, to put the bolt back in the bottom of the leg she spins, the manuel says I need a special tool to tighten that bolt? My friend said there is a trick to do it with out the special tool, he can not remember. Anyone know this trick? sam

Suspect I know the answer to this already, but any new news for 2024? I’d like to replace my 2022 standard 260 but hope there are some tweaks (even if better colours/graphics than the standard 2023 4RT…).

Good night. My 301 is the first 4-stroke trial bike I have owned. I'm somewhat lost. Once the bike warms up, the electric fan starts and is on 90 percent of the time. Even on the road going in 4 speed it stays on. When I stop and the engine is idling, the fan stops for a short time and starts again. The periods are very long and continuous. is this normal? The motorcycle has the coolant level, it does not expel it and there is no high temperature in the radiator hoses but the fan is running almost all the time.

I got out for a ride on a new to me 4RT and it is quite different from my Beta 300 4t. This is a 300RR version, 2018. Power is much sharper than the Beta but it seems like power is cut much quicker than on the Beta. The front wheel really slams down on the backside of logs, even a small 10 inch diameter log.. I tend to double blip most any obstacle. I'll do a second blip when the tire is on the front of the log or on top, chop the throttle, bikes roll over and set the front end down. This 4RT just drops the front wheel like a rock hitting the ground pretty hard on the back side. I'm wondering if this is the way fuel injection works or could it be something else. …

Hi I have 4RT 2008 bike and been very very happy with it. Im a club rider with 3+ years of experience. 4RT suites me absolutely perfectly, but sometimes I find it lacking power. This particularly doesnt mean that it wouldnt have enough power, but as my wrists are very tight (I cant for example turn the handlebar from 0-max with one turn), its difficult to turn the gasbar fast/far enought to get the max power out instantly. Since some weeks now, Ive tried to get rid of this problem by turning the gashandle with the front brake leveller downwards and adjusted the bar itself more frontwards to get less wrist angle. These are helping, but still I wonder if there is something…

  7. I would like to replace my footpegs and peg brackets as my stock pegs feel a bit narrow and are worn such that they droop a bit (I think this is, in part, due to the brackets). I saw the Raptor Ti brackets and they look very nice, but I am not sure I want to part with $200 for them. OEM brackets are $82 (for both), but seem less than beautifully crafted. Any options that are better than oem but less costly than the raptors? For pegs, does anyone make a rockered peg like the White Brothers and Sunline Arch MX pegs (center spikes are raised higher than the front/rear which, I find, makes moving fore-aft on the bike easier, particularly when operating the rear brake) for …

Hi, looking for help with Montesa 349 (51M). Firstly my son thought he could race around field on my recently purchased 349 like he does on his Crf250, unfortunatley the 349 protested. It now jumps into gear when you kick it over, any ideas?? Also when I have taken clutch casing off to have a look I noticed the crankshaft balance weight is missing, replaced with bodged up steel tube, would it be better with the balance weight on ?? (crankshaft seems Ok under sleeve) Lastly for now, anybody got supply of pistons, only pistons I can find are Kevin Breedon Racing or Sammy Miller (No price advertised) Thanks In Hope, Mark.

As the title really. I am struggling to find the price of a new 4rt on the continent. With the falling value of the Euro I assume they must be a fare bit cheaper over there. I've tried looking on some foreign eBay sites but I can't find any new 4rt's for sale. I live in the UK by the way.

Sorry to bring this subject up again, but... I have relatively small feet for a bloke, just size 8 boots. I like to stand on the rear of the pegs. (to weight the back of the bike for more grip and to lighten the front of what is supposedly a front heavy bike). If I do, I can't reach the brake pedal, which means I have to have my feet further forward than I like, to use the rear brake. I know there are shorter alloy brake pedals available (expensive ones at that), but I have read that they are tucked in. I would hate to purchase one only to find that I then have to hug the frame with my boot to operate the pedal. I like to stand towards the outside of th…

How do you stick in the little grills on the mudguard? I’ve cut some from some 1mm grill material and tried sticking it in with bathroom sealer and duct tape but they work loose during a trial. Seemed to work ok with silicon sealer on my 2007 4RT but not as good on this 2016 model. Being from down south I think it’s worthwhile trying to stop the mud getting into the air box. If you have any photos from the underside of a 2014 or later sowing how to fix the grill that would be perfect.

Hi, I have a slight problem with my 247. It developed a fault recently. It starts no problem but will not rev out. It will pull fine on low throttle openings but when under load it just dies out. I have cleaned out the carburettor and replaced the jets and the float. It has electrex ignition and I was wondering if it may be the spark breaking down at higher revs. If so, is it possible to check for this ?

What is the difference in the top end of the new 301 vs the big bore kit (S3) for the 300rr? The bigbore brings it to aprox 299cc. Isnt it what the 301 measures? On a thread i started while ago I was contemplating the big bore and i had mention I was curious about the new edition!! Turns out the 301 is pretty much the 300 with a big bore and some adjustments in the valve that controls the engine brake in the lower end (correct me if I m mistaking please). Updates: Got the programable Throttle body from factory on 2018 RR so I just purchased hardware and softwares for re-mapping! Termignoni exhaust and header are next! Big bore is on its way via mail! If you re…

I bought this Cota from the Original Owner and have been working on getting it sorted out. Its a very early model : Vin 21M00348, possibly a 1968?... It has the IRZ carb, big hubs, no chain tensioner or mount for one. Everything besides the tires is probably original. The bike runs but i have replaced the crank seals, base gasket and replaced the petcock. Working on getting tires/ tubes/ rim locks changed, seat recovered (foam is deteriorating). I don't think it will get a cosmetic upgrade, just mechanical. I like the patina. Thanks
