Ok so having completely stripped my 4rt intending to put new crank bearings in due to a knock I have found a little wear on the crank, flywheel side..... is this terminal and a new crank or could it be replaced? Also does any one know of an alternative CRF250 crank possibly ?‍♂️

Hello all wonder if you can help. A friend has just picked up a 2016 300rr but the rear brake doesn't work It just bottoms out with no resistance, there is plenty of fluid in there. Can't see any leaks either but the only thing I noticed is the rear caliper seems to be binding but when I undo the rear wheel nut it frees off. The brake disc doesn't seem to run in the middle of the caliper it's more to the inside. I checked the rear caliper and the inner piston seem to be pressed all the way back in and other side out quite a way. Any help would be grateful.

Hello Cota 349 aficionados, Anybody know the correct order of alignment of the cutches steel plates? There is a slot cut into only one tab on the inside. Not sure what the tab’s slot is for. thanks.

Hi all, I've got 2020 4ride with only 100 miles on it has developed a tapping from the top of the engine. It only happens after 10-15 mins of riding when it's hot. It's most noticeable when the bike is idling and sounds like someone is tapping a spanner against the top of the engine. My 4rt has never made this noise. Before I start taking the thing to bits or starting a warranty claim, does anyone have any ideas? Could it be valve clearance? Oil not getting to the valves? Hopefully won't be anything serious with the bike being so new... Cheers Ross

Hi folks, I've recently bought a 300rr and still getting used to the bike. It has come with a 41 tooth rear sprocket and a 10 tooth front, which I believe is standard? On my first outing I found that the bike rides really nice running in first gear but is a bit quick in second. My spare rear wheel has a 42 tooth sprocket from my previous bike (300 gas gas) I ran this and didn't find a lot of difference, but have since noticed that second is now only very slightly more manageable. My friend is running a 43 tooth rear sprocket and uses second much more, he is preferring this setup, I rode his bike and I'm not convinced. What do you folks run a…

Hi I have a 2004 Cota 315 I need some clutch work done: Do you have recommends for a knowledgeable mechanic in SoCal? Thank you

I have a question about changing my clutch. The owner manual says on page 4-44 that I have to do the following before removing the clutch cover: "Pull the clutch lever and hold it with a suitable clamp" Please, can someone tell me why? I have concerns because then generate pressure in the clutch line and when i unscrew the clutch cover, the piston of the auxiliary cylinder pops out and the clutch fluid leaks. For my understanding I don't have to pull the clutch to relieve the system.

Have any 4rt owners done any internal engine work on the 4rt? Reason I ask, I've got a 2005 4rt (first batch off the production line frame number low 900s) and I have no history of any internal engine work done. In my ownership I've followed the book and replaced the oils and filter every 15 hours using the recommended oils. The book says the piston is to be changed every year however this could be the original piston for all I know. The bike runs great and pulls well. Is it worth the rather large expensive of rebuilding it? I'm not concerned about the labour as I'd carry out the work myself however the parts add up to quite a lot.

I cann use all tips & tricks to set up the bike properly and hope to adapt in a normal time to 4-stoke mode. I rode a lot but in Belgium there are just a handfull 4RT riders. In competition i haven't almost seen none. Greathings, Luc

Probably a dumb question given the current situation. Does anyone know if there will be a 2021 260 4RT (ie. the standard bike)? I would expect (& totally understand) not but good to know before I buy a 2020 one. Wish they would do it in red again even if nothing else changes...

Hello, new to this forum and have searched this subject but didn't find any info specific to my issue. Bike runs Ok on level and uphill but starves for fuel and quits on descents. It initially runs fine on downhill but after a few seconds runs out of fuel, pulling the choke lever brings it back to life. So, it looks to me like the float level is too low and as it runs downhill its burning off enough fuel to starve. I've pulled the carb and checked the float level. Spec is 23.5 to 24.5 mm. It's currently at 26.1 mm. So the difference between actual and high side of spec is about 1/8" (old school). Thinking this is likely the issue but wondering if there is anything else i…

I've had my '74 Cota for 22 years, always ran on points & coil, always hard to kick but always started, I'm getting old, recently had starting issues, installed compression release, still no start but had spark, pulled flywheel, checked points & decided to replace condenser, when I removed old condenser the wire pulled out from center of condenser, so thought that was issue, after 22 years with that condenser, replaced with new condenser & moved to under tank but then completely lost spark, decided to install Electrex ignition after reading on this site that others have done this & have 1 or 2 kick starting. while it now runs still have very hard startin…

Now reaching the final stages of a loooong restoration of a 248. I want to make up a simple wiring loom in order to get a 'no lights' MOT. So this question is not specifically about the 248, but a wiring question in general. So I have: Black going to coil, Green going to horn via a button on the L/H handlebar. Red going to condenser (now mounted up and under the tank). This is the question: I have a button on the R/H handlebar that I want to wire as a kill button. I just cannot get my head around how and what to wire this into? (I know I need to divert the power to the points to earth, but how…
