So after 20 years of always having a trials bike, I decided to sell it and put the money towards a road bike which I now have and am loving. I also have a trail bike, and the reason for selling the trials bike was that to be honest I enjoyed riding my trail bike more, and had become a little tired of trials after so long. This was probably due to the cost in time and money of living in the south and spending hours in the van driving to trials up north, as they are the ones I would enjoy the most. Anyway to cut a long story short I am now missing my trials bike. I am still loving riding the trail bike but only getting away on that a few times a year. So I have been thinkin…

I'm new to trials and mechanics in general but enjoy learning on a 2006 4rt. After oil change, the bolts that secure the side cover on (about 6 or so) have to go on soooooo gently or "SNAP". I got a torque wrench and set it to 16 pounds/ sq. ft. as manual says.....and SNAP, again! I'm soiling my trousers over this! Not really. Is this an issue for anyone else? Do replacement bolts have to be purchased from Honda only? THANKS!!!!

Noticed some 70's Cota's have packing pieces wrapped around handlebar to increase the diameter. So why were the handlebar and clamps clamps odd size to the normal 7/8"?

Many of my compatriots ride Montesa. I like the build quality, but they are weighty beasts, and that 4 stroke yanking you into corners is too hard to deal with. So Why are Montesa riders so resistant to change? Is there some big secret that the rest of us just dont get?

Just curious why Honda is not bringing the Monty into US anymore? Here in US, Honda is known for building exceptionally reliable products. But from some of the pricing I saw on another thread, converted to US $$$ makes the Montesa a very pricey bike. Are they that good to get that much more money than GG or Sherco?

At our local trial today and I had the chance to check out one of the last 315R monts (white rear guard one), great bike, top quality, and well sorted (as it should be) why the hell did Montesa just stop making it? It seems like they have a fully sorted bike in the 315, the closer I looked the more quality bits and bobs I saw...just seems a waste to just stop making it....any thoughts?

HI, its a bit of shame this is my first post as it could be bad news.... lol. Anyway i fitted a new throttle cable to my 2002 315r, only to find out that when i started it it was too short. The bike instantly went to full revs and must have stayed there for between 2 - 3 minutes before the petrol ran out of the carb. I had the tank on so i couldnt get the spark plug cap off. There were other things i could have done, i know, but i was paniking!! Anyway, nothing went bang and cyclinder gaskets are still intact, just a bit of steam from the coolant reservior under the tank. I put the old throttle cable back on to make sure the bike would still run, which it does thankfully.…

Greetings all - have been refurbishing a 1978 Montesa Cota 247 thats been laid up in dry storage for 20+ years! Generally it looks in a reasonable condition and most work I have done has to be honest largely unnecessary (checking conditions and cleaning). So added petrol and it fired up 3rd kick! :-) However once warm/hot it refuses to re start. My first though was that the crank seals had hardened and were loosing pressure once hot (however there is no smell or petrol or residual mix inside the ignition case). I'm still intending to change the seals just as a good idea, but I haven't yet taken the clutch side apart. However this brings me to a ques…
