I'm collecting my 4rt today I,ve had the master cylinder changed to the larger 315 one and I'm going to fit some hebo footrests today during my set up. I've heard the standard bars are wider than renthals and some of you have moved footrest positions and changed gearlevers, rear brake pedals etc. Any chance of posting some pics or giving more detail on these mods please ?

Hi I am putting a 1974 cota 247 back on the road. I am fitting an electric horn and it has a speedo and number plate. My question is do I need a chainguard to pass the MOT Thanks

MMMmmmm! Somewhere on last ride my side stand rubber fell out on my new 4RT. I did an interim repair with plastic hose and zip clip. Didn't want the metal stand potentially rubbing on the thin carbon fibre swing arm protector. Here is permanent fix... I grabbed a 5mm Nutcert which was closest to the diameter of the hole drilled in the side stand for the rubber knob. I had to drill the hole to 7mm diameter for the Nutcert which was only about 0.5mm bigger than the stock hole size. I then inserted and locked the Nutcert in the hole with pressing tool which gives a permanent 5mm thread where the hole was, see pics. I found a plastic button thingy in my spares/never throw…

As above whats the thoughts for the 260? Jjust come out of a few years in Enduro and the DiD X Ring is a faultless chain, as good as it gets IMHO. Requires very little maintenance and with the two split links as supplied by Endurotyres it will last at least a year with little noticeable wear or stretch.

My conrod had sideways movement of over 3mm, is this normal. Clymer manual says .4 to .5 of a mm but the book does stop at 75 and i have 76 mrr. Is it spaced into position by little end ? I did run/ride it a short distance before dismantle and it ran smooth and quiet so unsure whether it need replacing or not. Just seems very odd to have such movement but nothing seems amiss apart from this 3mm sideways movement. Has anyone any ideas at to whats amiss. Engine didnt seem to have recently if ever been apart, bore+piston in excellent condition just wear on one gear, barrel nuts were very difficult to remove giving me the impression it had not been apart. All the documents say that honda recommends elf htx 740 for the clutch for the 4rt. If you look on this site it says that the htx 740 oil is for a dry clutch, but the 4rt has a wet clutch. Anyone know why they recommend this oil. elf oil htx 740

I was wondering if this is common or just a one off. My less than year old, 2015 4RT has a problem with the kick start lever. The lug that engages when it's folded out has cracked and deformed. It seems the alloy is really soft. Apart from putting the lever at too much angle, I can see this is going to fail in the middle of a ride somewhere. This bike hasn't had that much use because it's not my only bike. And other bikes I've owned have never had such a problem even after 10 years of hard use. I am considering to go for a montesa 4rt but theirs a problem.I have had a go on the 2014 montesa 260 cota but i haven't had a go on any of the new models. I know montesa are great bikes their very reliable and so on. Is the cota rr worth £8400 and is the repsol worth £7000. Is it worth going the extra money and going for the repsol over the standard cota. The only other bike i have considered is the new sherco 250 2 stroke which i have test rode I have owned 2 strokes which where both sherco but i am willing to learn how to get used to a 4rt many thanks I thought the 2014 montesa cota 260 was great as well as the new sherco

I have been trying to remove the rear wheel bearings for replacement. I can not figure out on how to get them out. If anyone could help with some sugestions or tools it would be a big help.

anyone got a picture of a 315 with the tank and seat combo you can get for long distance riding. I've been looking around for one but haven't come up withanything yet. Where can you order them from. i didn't seee anything on the montesa site.

Hi All, Basically the bike is a 2001 315 and the rear caliper was butchered by my mate when the bleed nipple snapped off so i had to buy a brand new caliper (that will teach me to give it to somone who knows what there doing rather than mess it up myself) anyway after new caliper was fitted i started to try and bleed the thing and well its been a nightmare ive tried syringe method's gravity methods and a pressure sucker thing you connect to the airline and nadda it just wont seem to bleed ive tried this for weeks on and off when ive had the time and well id like to use the bike at some point so anyone have any idea's The syringe method basically backfilling the system i…

Practicing with Dennis Sweeten and Odus Lambert today, trying to get in shape for the ssdt, so riding that type of creek section all afternoon. I was riding my Sherco 4T, Odus on a stock 4rt, Dennis on a 4rt with a re mapped ignition, really soft for the type of section and terrain we were riding. I couldn't believe the difference between Dennis's bike and Odus's bike, Odus's bike would pull hard and you had to try keep up with it, Dennis's bike was so mellow and easy to ride, even Odus thought the same thing, the bike was twice as easy to ride in that type of section. I think the programmable ignition would be the number one item on my spares list if I owned a 4rt.

Hi all, I'm new to the forums and to trials,got a problem with my Montesa 315 r dear wheel alinement, after fitting new bearings and recurring wheel the tyre rubs on a bolt head which holds the chain guard in place, (snail cams are equal) Could it be; 1 wrong bolt fitted, maybe should be a flatter head ?? 2 swinging arm twisted!! Hi, Just bought a 2002 Montesa 315r and am suffering from clutch drag....engine running in neutral...engage 1st with a CLUNK and she's off, even with the clutch in, hard to shift gears or select neutral...I have no manual, is there some adjustment...which way???? do not want it to be the clutch....or is some of this to be expected.....makes life a bit difficult.. cheers Mark

hy i have just got a small tachometer to test the rpm on 4rt it says connect to ht leads but not sure exacly where to connect, just figured that out now the only prob setting the tach up it says spark revolutions what is this i dont have a clue

Hi, new member to TC and 348 Montesa's. I'm trying to replace the crank seals on my 348 but I'm unable to remove the clutch basket! I would have expected the basket to lift off the shaft fairly easily once the nut, lock washer and clutch pack are removed but mine seems to be stuck!! Could the bearing be stuck on the shaft? Do I need a puller? Any advise would be appreciated.
