http://dirtbikemagazine.com/hondas-two-stroke-plans/
Old news, or maybe we may see the return of competition 2 stroke dirtbikes from Honda - possibly a Trials model
Yamaha have re-introduced a new 2T MX and Enduro bikes, in the last 2 years - so why not Honda?
An efi 2T Trials bike from Honda, would encourage me to buy one
-
Exactly, keep them as they were - everyone tries to make them into something they weren't.............trouble trials aren't marked out like they were 'back in the day', so it's a double whammy and hence everyone is modding their bikes

As a schoolboy I rode a TY 175 from 13 onwards
Then when I was 17 - I needed wheels to get to college, so put all lights back on and speedo, it was already registered and got it mot'd
Put some L plates on it and rode to college for 2 years, a daily round trip of 36 miles, winter & summer
Bike never missed a beat and never touched the engine, even on same rings from when brand new when sold at 10 years old
TY 175 a real all rounder
-
Well, 12 years later................I finally bought a 1996 TYZ
Quite like her, nice to ride with loads of mods
Footpegs have been lowered/moved back quite a lot, somebody has made some trick custom hangers and fitted Scorpa wide pegs
Headstock has been sculptured to gain a far bit of extra lock and with 6" Renthal bars feels nicer to ride now
Front caliper is a modern AJP one
Lots of other fabbed special bits like an alloy chainguard and strengthened and gussetted rear subframe
Somebody who was good with alloy welding and fabrication has spent a fair few hours on this bike
Smooth power, with plenty of torque
-
-
Why not?
Can you not ride a Scorpa 125 in the A/C Mono class and that's from year 2000 onwards
-
I know I'll get 101 different answers & opinions ......BUT
Which is the best to ride for a Clubman?
I've ridden and owned a 4rt for the last 10 years on & off
I an missing out by not riding a modern 2T?
i've had a go on a mates '16 Beta 2T & really liked it
Very different to ride and l thought it was good
So which newer bike is best in your opinion ?

Renthal Bou are only 4.5" height I think (I have some on my bike), which is too low for me
I'm changing this week for the Renthal Fatbars 5.5" at 6'2 I need all the bar height I can get
If I don't like them, I'll go for some 6" Apico
I have 6" Renthal (22mm) on other bikes and like them
-
How dare you, no self respecting o50 rider can do without bling
-
Many thanks Stuart, seems like an easy way to get it done for £120
-
Portuguese Orange was an official 1976 colour and looks like your tank is that design
-
No 10/41 is stock gearing
I did try 9/42 too and prefer 10/44
-
Very funny
Just shows how far bikes & suspension have evolved over the last 40 years
-
I live in Yorkshire and changed my sprockets
Having had 4RT's for 10 years, I find 10/44T to be perfect for me as a crap clubman
1st for the really tight nadgery stuff
2nd for the longer becks/streams and general stuff
3rd for the longer sections and hill climbs
-
I am still using some 740 that must be 10 years old
I always pour it out into a clear jug and it looks fine, so use it in the 4RT gearbox
No ill effects here, just check it before adding ( I do have some that is 5 months old and the oil that is 10 years old is identical to the ordinary eye)
-
Hi Andy, this was the reason for my PM's last week and only happens in this Road section, none of the others
I'll clear my Inbox
Thanks Andy

So, I have a classic bike, new to me
I have HPI'd the chassis number and nothing comes back, so it's not registered
I have a dating letter from the UK importer, stating date of manufacturer (but bike is not for road use??? on it)
I need to get it MOT'd on the chassis number
Which other DVLA forms do I need and what do I do to obtain a NOVA form form HMRC, to satisfy DVLA
Can someone lead me through it, in simple steps..........A to Z?
-
-
Yep, almost non existent - you never see any 4RT's at a club trial nowadays, do you
-
Mines a 250....but quoting the reg on loads of bikes - some obscure works for me
all linked to. DVLA database
-
No, but a tip that works for me is to just give them the bike's reg number when they ask the make & model
That way they just punch the reg number in and hey presto they come up with whatever DVLA say it is and they say fine, without a problem
Nowadays I never say it's a Raga/Majesty/ossa MAR thingymajig because you are talking to a call centre operator who hasn't a clue
Give them a reg number and they can't argue
-
Perhaps because some prefer a 4t, others because it's a Honda and there has always been a mystique with the Honda Trials story (over-egged maybe)
Perhaps the fit and finish suits them, maybe some like the trinkets available
I like mine, because it makes me smile sometimes
