  1. Im not biased at all , just interested to see what people think . +
  2. As four out of the five main trials bike manufacturers now produce a four stroke , is it time the FIM introduce a timetable for the complete changeover to four strokes at world level ???
  3. It all depends how many bikes appleyards have got to sell as to how much damage they will do to the S/H market . It wont just hurt 4RT values it will knock the value of all recent S/H bikes!

    De - Coke

Any tips on how to de-coke a beta 80 front pipe ??
  6. Try disconecting the kill switch
  7. The pilot jet really only has an effect at tick over and just above , it is vital to the sharp pick up of the engine. The symptoms you are describing are probably due to something else such as ignition problems or air leaks etc. Good luck
  8. Jay ! Who's leg you trying to pull ? I have been to the states five times in the last few years and i thjink its fair to say that the cost of buying a vehicle ine the USA is about half what it is in europe and if my memorey is right you pay about 3 dollars a gallon. In Britain we pay around
  9. It would be a shame ( for all the leading contenders) if the trial was won or lost on a small error
  10. whats the penalty for missing a section ?
  11. my dad had one back in the seventies . I would guess yours is around 74 -76 . My dads was a couple of years old when he got it in 78 .
  12. I dont know how many riders are entering the Alan Jeffries, but you only need to look at the Travers held two weeks ago ! Here we have a single route for clubmen and experts , the clubman generally say it is way to hard for them but they still have a full house entry of 120 riders.
  13. I am all for supporting youth trials, but i feel where funding is available we should be using it at the grass routes ie helping clubs run the events and promoting the sport in a positive way to the wider world outside. A steady influx of young riders is what the sport needs. We must get the basics right before we can think of funding a select few
  14. So which is the best make of chain ?
  15. I know what you mean but i havent seen any thing like it for years! (thank god lol)
  16. I cant believe that it is over 15 years ago since the world round was held on the lower slopes of Ben Nevis. I havent been to many world rounds but it is without doubt my favorite. The Ben seemed to accomodate the thousands of spectators with ease and the views where spectacular. Hope it returns one day (without the fisty cuffs of course )
  17. Big John I think the incident you are refering to was a one which involved Tommy Ahvalas minder , the incident occured at one of the sections on Ben Nevis . Iwas sitting about 6 foot away when it all kicked off. The photo shows Ahvalas minder under about 3 other people but the observer was under all of them and im sure he is a big lad . Sorry i cant get the photo to attach but it is funny
  18. Or perhaps you would have had the same arguments about stopping instead of ones about going backwards? There will always be arguments about observing decisions but i feel the no stop rules are easier when it comes to observing
  19. I recently had the misfortune to observe at an FIM rules trial , I observed how i thought the rules applied ie if the bike moves back its a five . As it was a youth trial with punch cards the riders could see straight away what they had scored . I watched carefully the rear tyre tread of the machine at a point in the section where riders where stopping. If i noticed any movement of the tread rearwards i marked a five on the punchcard. I spent the whole day in constant argument with riders and fathers as they beleived they had not gone backwards . If the trial had been no stop i would have had a peacefull day. Hopefully more trials will become no-stop and the FIM rules will be ditched .
  20. The noise problem is one that wont go away! unfortunately every time some noisey moron with a race can on his Yamasukionda gives it a handfull , we get lumbered with the blame . We all know trials is not a noisey sport probably quieter than the kids football game held in my back field every sunday, Tha trouble is we get tagged with motocross and road racing and in time we will have no where left to ride
  21. I went to a trial yesterday it was 30 miles from home, I have been to one today 40ish miles away going to one tommorow long distance this one about 50 miles away . At least you guys in the states have good roads and cheap petrol (gas )
  22. Thanks everybody for your help , I understand the rules a lot clearer now !
  23. Bikespace! you have made it so clear now
