  1. That's odd they insure my Bultaco Sherpa along with my road bikes unless they have stopped taking new trade on trials bikes
  2. I would use Tig if you can get it I have used lummiweld but every thing must be spotless Repaired a Bultaco clutch case with it ok But could not get it to work on the cub (oil in the alloy castings)
  3. I have done my REV3 a Sherco 200 several Bultos BSA and AJS'S and never owned an air tool I just used the correct tools and pullers
  4. You may find the crank differs (balance) and the barrel may no fit the crank cases The REV3 use different part numbers for the crank on the REV3 list I have so there could be minor differences like stud centres and opening for the barrel ect
  5. The difference between a trials box and a road box is the lay shaft gear and the final drive gear ( Output ) Long time since I have one but 27t and 25t rings a bell as I broke a few in my time if the chain came off and locked up braking this gear Primary drive ratio your stuck with I found a sprocket of a125 Villiers but had to make a new key for the crankshaft When I rode Villiers powered bike there was a lot of road work so needed a high top gear
  6. Just measured my cub and the Bultaco is 13" but the Beta is only 12" The cub uses 360mm rear shocks
  7. If it was used in the SSDT and unrestored it may still have the paint marking on it somewhere IE tank frame or engine
  8. Yes I remember one that Donald Buchan rode in the SSDT and finished in the mid 60's I have a picture of it but it is a slide and cannot get it on here as I would need the slide scanner to work on the new system I am now using

    Rev3 Gearing

I have an 03 rev3 200 It has 11t front 42t rear But the power output is soft on steep climbs the exhaust note will change and it will pull I have tried an 07 on the same sections and it was much fiercer and takes off the sections in Scotland may not be the same as your area
  10. Hi my B31 has 32mm forks and it is a heavy bike This type of cycle chassic housed the 650 twin A10 motor
  11. The clutch bearing is not greased but is lubed by the oil in the clutch case Never had any problems with that setup even with road use and very high milage
  12. Yes that looks like another condencer My 175 Sherpa still runs on points and the condencer moved next to the coil Your wheel problem is common to Bultos my 325 and a250 had similar problems
  13. Hi The plastic part is part of the coil former Looks like someone has put somthing in the flywheel to lock it to remove itI would move the condencer next to the HT coil under the tank There should be a bolt in the front hole under the front plug these bolts tend to be stripped by over tightening The funny part on the steering is a lock to lock the steering You seem to be close to me so any problems PM me
  14. The two outlets at the front are for a balance pipe and are connected together by a hose The tap at the rear supplies the carb Hope this helps
  15. Hi Check TC callander Dalmellington 18/5/14 at New Comnock or SCRMC Tinto MX Park Rigside of the A74 on the 25/5/14
  16. The first number 6 is a 600 type The next numbers 25 is the choke size 25mmThe L1 is the build code ie slide and jet sizes Four stroke and two stroke differ around the needle jet and one has the pilot jet the other does not
  17. I am building a 200 cub and have been adviced to use high comp piston and R cam If I am to build it bigger to use standard cam and low piston Not haven ridden a 4stroke(always 2t) offroad it will be trial and error but exhuast and inlet track length can also alter the power as can the type of carb fitted
  18. When you drain the fuel remove the fuel tap and check the filter inside the tank I removed mine when it stuck one day and found a gunge over the filter Also check the tank breather and any in line filter These are easy to check before you delve into the motor
  19. Hi my 1969 bulto I painted it blue where it was red It looked smart My cousin's bulto was British Racing green tank and panels and light green frame The frirst 125 bulto I saw was Black The different colour made them stand out at a crowded section queue
  20. Also done 600miles 3am start 9pm home was worth it
  21. Yes there is a filter on the fuel tap I had to remove the tap as it stuck shut I was surprised at the goo on the filter gauze
  22. I have an 03 and do not remember it having a liner although it was replace at some time when the first owner damaged the barrel when it filled with water breaking the base lugs

    199B Swing Arm

Also the 175 frame front down tube is bent at the guset under the tank and the rear sproket is larger
  24. I have an 03 REV3 200 had a similar problem after doing the normal check new plug disconnect kill switch plug cap I check the circuits with a meter and found the HT side of the coil open circuit The bike would start and run until pulling hard up climbs and over the moors between section New coil problem solved Also check the carb and air filter this could also cause a fault as discribed
  25. My early 250 and the first 325's were flange fittings had no O ring but they had 627 Amals made in Spain Other Amals 626 and 930 I used on my BSA do have O rings and are made in the UK
