What type of brake calliper do you have Mine is an 03 Rev 3 with AJP 4pot Pads are just held in with an allan screw and spring clip Re move the wheel slip out calliper undo allan screw draw out spring remove pads clean out any muck Refitting is in reverse
The only type I have seen are the black o ring at the bottom and a red o ring at the top Looked on my parts suppliers sight and that all he listed as individual parts or decoke kits so I assume the square head is the same as the round head since it fits on to a square barrel on one of my engines
The first 5 speed Sherpa's looked like the last off the 4 speed body parts The weak point is the clutch cable mount under the case as it is prone the damage on rocks breaking it off IRZ carb flood the engine if the bike fell on it's side I had a similar one but it had the later body work(before the kit campion style)and Amal carb
Even my Moto Guzzi V50 did not wear evenly and it is a coated liner and you can see where the rings run also where the piston are pushed against the bores Granted the mileage was a lot higher
As said above barrels do not ware evenly I had a B31 std size The ware was 15thou Had to bore it to + 40 and there is still a mark on the top front of the bore The crank turns forcing the piston onto one face of the barrel so they tend to ware oval measuring the side to side top and bottom them measure back and front and the sizes can be very different Had cub barrel done 3THO difference top to bottom f/r and same size side to side
Having a BETA REV3 200 OF 2003 had to change the main some years back the old ones were sealed and the new ones were also sealed The old set were originals So did the bearings change to unsealed on later models?
There were Bultacos in the SSDT in1963 They were 200cc 4speed There was one in 2015 A 200 4speed the forks did not go forward but the spindle fitted straight on the bottom and the hubs were much larger The head fins were straight like the M49
I have two cub engines one fitted with Electric world The rotor has two keyways cut in it but the stator is mounted on the outer clutch case so is hard to time the spark It runs ok The second engine has PVL and the rotor has no keyway cut in it This is a later twin roller type engine and the stator is mounted on the crank case Ran fine till it seized because a bush was to tight so can not compare system yet Need to refit the second motor back in the bike and run it up
You can ride in Scotland with an ACU trials reg card I do not think anything is added to the entry since they changed to reg cards some time back It was only when they still had the full expensive licences that extra was added for insurance I believe
Seen a similar problem caused by dirt under the washer in the M/C not letting the piston return to the end of travel same as no free play on lever The rider wondered why the brake lock up on mud after a short distance When cold it was fine Check under the rubber boot for dirt and rust Remove clip and washer to clean them Does not take much to hold piston in M/C on
I would ride to trials up to 40 miles plus a trial any thing up to100miles Plus use the bike all week to work Even went on holiday to the Isle of Man Rode to the ferry and back Used as transport all week with an evening trial thrown in The Bulto (M49) had all ready done two SSDT's by previous owners and was quick on the road (70plus) My current trials bike is slower ( on tarmac) than my 175 Bulto
Just found my late father's tankard from 1951 It looks smaller than yours Again no idea what was for Most likely a second class award and the larger first or special first No doubt Big j will know Who the rider was do not know but he was lucky for a ride in those days
Hi
Check out the trial run Scottish Classic Racing at Abington just off the M74
There is a novice trial at Hawick on the 19th July by the Lanarkshire club The Lothian club at Penicuik Just rode the trial at Thornhill last Saturday and I am the wrong side of 65
IAN
Agreed our SSDT pre65 books are made of waterproof paper The observer writes the number and circles ( in pre printed columns) marks lost They did try punch cards some year's ago it took to long and more observers were need on continues sections like pipeline
Hi
just a note that the Pre 65 used a scanner at the finish ramp to log in the finish time Each number plate had a bar code The scanner was not cheap plus a laptop It was try to see if it worked and t did As said remote section would be a big problem and weather damage ???
I know when I was an offical at the SSDT therwas a time delay control at the swing brige at Banavai Only seen it used once for the last few riders
It was a long boring day as you were out before the first rider in the morning and last man at night As for the time the CoC may alter the time
I have had an 03 200 for several years now and love it It has a smooth power delivery and is not to fiery for me I started on a 200 1957 DOT went onto various Villiers powered bike then Bultaco My friend has an 07 but it is much more fiery than mine tried it at a trial was not my style of power He had a run on a evo it had even more power but it could be the way they are set up and the riders like it that way Owned a 200 Sherco nice bike but the Beta suited me better for my riding style
You could check out the exhuast for retriction in this would also kill the power
My 200 looses power then repack tail pipe and after a short run it is ok again
There should be 200cc of oil in the gear box and 200cc in the clutch but I run less in the clutch That is per workshop manual There is a gasket fitted to the primary cover The gear box drain plug ( bigger hex) should have a tube fitted to level the oil and a smaller plug in the middle ( small hex) to do this level. At the moment I use Electrix world and standard clutch and use a chain tensioner with no ill effects
Is the free play on the inner clutch centre or the gearbox main shaft If it is the shaft there may be to much end float in the gearbox Long time since I had an 8e so cannot remember what took up the end float
