My point would be that a lad good enough to ride at WTC level and British Champion (I think) couldn't make a decent living and had to resort to this.

Shirty's Comment On Next Yrs Wc
The riders are getting humiliated, last result I saw Dabill had dropped 66 to Raga's 2? It's a joke I bet there's very little difference in there abilities. We've let the "bikes" develop to a point any marginal difference in ability is amplified. It's the same at every level from club upwards. Until these motorised pogosticks are limited to some degree the situation will continue.

2012 Scorpa Sr280 Air Filter Assembly
Hi Scottie, the taller bit on the square insert goes to the front. Put he foam filter on it and fit it as one, think the foam points left as it goes in the box.. Make sure the assembly pushed home tight in the mouth of the airbox. The metal clips are a bit stiff,I fit rear one first ,they both go from the centre out up the angled turrets, not over the lip. Wee bit fiddly.. Futher you'll find the box needs a bit extra foam round the mouth and tape round the back of the airbox to help keeo out water. All the best..

198A Rebuild
I wish my 340 looked as good as your before Bondy. A magnificent job, miles better than new.

New From Fife
Just personal preference as the bike doesn't make much difference to how you ride. Unless you're buying new you'll find good clean secondhand bikes are thin on the ground. Try to go for a 250 as 125s don't let you away with so much and anything over 250 is pretty pointless for someone starting out. Buy on condition rather than age. Personally a tidy Beta 250 would be my recommendation .. Forget 4 strokes as that just adds another dimension to things That's it..

New From Fife
Hello Chris,as b40rt (thanks Ross) says we are the ones to get in with if you want to make a fool of yourself on a trials bike. Trial on this weekend (we run over 20 a year) if you want to drop by someone will keep you right. Where in Fife are you from or are you too embarrassed to say?

My Model 150
Better than new speaking from my dad having one back in the day. My 340 doesn't look like that in fact it doesn't look like anything. If I retire I'll do it up ,honest!

199B Alloy Head Steady
As a side issue my Bultaco doesn't have one,how critical is it to have one fitted. Thanks for any replies in advance.

Bultaco Piston
Aye worth a phone call as they're a pleasure to deal with.

Bob Macgregor
Could take a while. Remember in Killin it's still 1982.

Which Rules Do You Want In Observed Trials, If This Was Your Choice.
Anything goes, but a 5 if you touch the clutch. Easy.
-
3 Or A 5
The 0.1'2'3'5 system worked fine up to the 80s when bikes stopped they tended to stay stopped. Now a quick prod or a bounce gets them moving again. Make it simple clean or a 5,stop if you like as long as it's feet up. Totally fair system. Very easy to score, wont be many arguments.,well shouldn't be.

Trials Newbie From Ayrshire
Hi laud from the East,if you want to ride any rain free trials visit us. Aye there ok through there, specially wee Heather. Happy trialling..
-
How Many Points Have You Got?
For starters how about nearly 400 marks in the Scott Trial once. I couldn't begin to count.
- 5 Or 3 ?
-
5 Or 3 ?
Put youself in the observers position. Most ssdt riders are clubmen/women arriving at the section soaked through in miserable conditions. Are you going to give them a bit leeway or 5 them all at the first opportunity? I suggest all riders were getting 3s for similar rides.

Fantic Section Forks
I recently acquired on of these Sections. Did a seal a week or two ago, alas it's been fitted with a set of USD Beta forks which is no help. Personally because i don't believe the amount of oil is a critical as some would say try roughly 280ml of 5wt in each leg,go 10 wt if you're a big lad. If they're bottoming out you could always add a few ml to suit. Cheers.

Pre-65 Trial Parade Of Riders Video
Don't know if all these bikes are pre 65,but most of the riding gear at least looks that way.

Rise Of The Twin Shocks!
In the day yes they were well up for it,I don't take the Bultaco out when it's wet (or wash it) beause the air box is dodgy and the casings like a gorgonzola cheese. I would never rev it out as it sounds like a stonecrusher on the overun, rather take a 5 Ok,you could throw money (which I haven,t got) at it and sort these things Agree most are far better made than modern offerings Most?.

Rise Of The Twin Shocks!
I suggest that because most T/Shocks are 30+ yeras old you have to treat them with a bit respect. A new one would certainly address that issue. IN both video clips the ridings quite subtle, a heavy handed approach on these old bikes would soon have them on the trailer.

Rise Of The Twin Shocks!
I don't know/ Some of these old twinshocks are making funny money. An off the shelf one ready to ride that's better than the old ones?

Why Did They Fail?
No no,the more the merrier and don't think a trial is just about sections. Some trials are like an undertakers waiting room with organisers that got thrown out of the gestapo for cruelty. Truly awful for casual riders. Most riders up here want a day on the bike,if there's a queue they just nip back to the shed for a quick coffee. We run over 20 events a year never had any unwelcome attention,we're all nice people. Who could possibly complain?

My First Problem
Hello there.big screw sets the tickover, small one is to fine tune the mixture.(ballpark 2/3 turns out} Both have to be set when the engine is warm. Make sure the slide is closing completely before you start up again,it just needs to be open a wee bit and it will rev high. Best advice I can give is speak to a pal who does trials and get him to look at it. Where in Scotland are you?
-
Why Did They Fail?
A few of you seem to be saying as much we don't want any new riders? I've said this before too, there's plenty out there want to ride trials, they just dont know about it yet. Getting there though, last AMCA club trial up here had about 100 riders.

Why Did They Fail?
Mmmn, you've got to get a decent volume to make things work. Kind of agree that the WTC is maybe not a brilliant shop window. And all the rest. Speaking from personal experience pushing it at grassroots does make a difference.
