What bike are you looking to get?
-
If you want to test a bike to destruction, the Scott's the boy for you. Jrsunt p****s around it like it's a quick spin, I am the other end of the spectrum. Ive done both and it's fair to say the the Scott is as hard as the ssdt times all 6 days into 1! Speed is so crucial to finishing, and reliability is key too. If you don't want the hassle, dont block the rad and cook it, avoid punctures and ride it on a bullit proof 4rt!
-
To me the big plus is the fuel injection. Just like my 4rt, it never fluffs and is always spot on. That aside, I don't really see any other massive advantages. The technology is great, but if riding is what it's all about it didn't really impress me that much, and i know of a few boys that had electrical issues with them. To be fair, the warranty has always stood up to any issues I've heard, do you really need the hassle on a new bike.
Before you buy one try a TRS 250. A little cracker, a fair bit cheaper and a lot less to go wrong!
-
Simple answer. Ring up Chris Pearson from splatshop, he'll put you right. And if that fails, fit a dellorto!
-
I've just bought a set of 3 standard spec batteries for my boys 20 lite for £15 + vat a battery
-
Whatever you buy make sure it's no bigger than a 250. If I bought a bike tommorow it would be a TRS 250. It's very well built, it's light, and it's easy to work on
-
My mate has an 07 beta rev 3 250. After half an hour or so the front brake starts to bind and gets gradually tighter until the disc is really hot. At this point the lever is tight.
Any ideas? We've retracted the pistons in the calliper and dobbed them in grease and they seem fine! Where do we go from here?
-
Hang on a minute. 25ml for 5 litres is 5 ml for 1 litre which is 200:1. That's way off. Should be 60:1 ish
-
By the way, can I have his place now?!
-
I don't think it's an unfair call for him not to ride the ssdt this year.
As he says, it's the week before the first wtc round, and him staying in Spain throwing the bike at 8 ft steps has got to be more beneficial to him than all day in the driving rain riding, for him at least easy sections.
I'm sure the factory have made their thoughts heard to him. They want him as the no 1 factory rider to give his best on the world stage, they after all, pay his wages!!
-
If that bike was disposed of when the factory went through I wonder whose collection the bike was 'disposed' into?!
-
Evening all. My boy has an Oset 20 lite that he's fast out growing. Add to that the frustration that the batteries didn't quite last the distance in a trial the other day and the very on/off power delivery that an electric bike gives and I'm thinking of moving him on to a little petrol bike.
Im completely out of touch with the kids scene so what are my options! He's nearly 7 but he's a big strong tall boy for his age. It seems to be only beta's as far as I can see. Don't really want to spend too much at this stage as I'm not convinced he's big into it yet!!!
p.s. There's a Sherco 0.5 for sale locally. Any thoughts on that???
-
My mate has an 07 rev3 250 that has never really run right.
You would think that it must be too rich because you have to rev it out cleanly before any sort of climb or it will run almost as if it's still cold, yet it seems to 'pink' a lot on high revs, as if it's a bit weak??? It's got a mikuni carb. Any ideas???
-
I rode them in the bvm test day and have been following their progress. Very little problems it seems. I'm looking forward to seeing how the RR performs at the end of the month. Just wish it had a dellorto on it too!
-
I would definately try John luff at bvm. He's an absolutely top bloke and will do his best to help you. He may not have a lot of bikes in stock but he has access to a lot of customer bikes for sale too. Give him a call for sure
-
There must be some sort of old wife's remedy out there!!
-
I've got 4 decent rear tyres in the shed that are in good order tread wise but seem to have gone hard and non-pliable over the course of time. Is there anything I can do to bring there 'soft compound' feel back?
-
Find Andy Walker on hard to find Facebook page. He's your man
-
-
As well as that I hate keihin carbs!!!!
-
Thanks for that davesmith. The 280 sounds like the one. I've got a 300 factory Sherco at the moment and just find it a bit fierce. A good mate of mine who is brilliant on the slippy stuff rode my bike and struggled to find grip above quarter throttle. Maybe the 300 TRS might be the same..
-
How do the 2 bikes compare? Typically, a 280 tends to be a bit more 'sharp' than its 300 equivalent? Any thoughts ladies and gents?
-
Clearly a tick for the TRS! How do the 300,280, 250 compare? I've always ridden the bigger capacity bikes. How does the 280 v's 300 compare in engine character?
