  1. it will turn both directions to adjust the damping but its only meant to move so far, if you apply too much force you will break it which will be expensive to fix why do you want to remove it ? I would suggest you dont
  2. the fim said maybe 6 or more years back that within 2 years all bikes in the WTC had to be fourstroke. its not in the rules because in the timescale the only company that could comply were Honda / Montesa and you cant have a one make series. Sherco were at least a year late but still to early for the product they produced. Beta took mare time but have made a reasonable job of it.
  3. you would be right to think I dislike the 4t trials bike, you would be absolutely wrong to think I dislike anybody who rides one. I object actually to the con, which was started by Montesa or Honda or the FIM. people look at Toni Bou and think they need a 4rt. but the points I have made before still havent been disproved in my view, the bike IS to loud, it IS too expensive and it IS too difficult to ride. With the exception of Toni s 300,000 euro factory bike tell me somebody you know who has bought a four stroke and rode noticebly better ? I dont know anyone who has, some ride one almost as good as their previous two stroke but many just dont. We, trials, dont need four strokes. We need lightweight bikes that we can afford, that we can fix ourselves and that improve our riding. People can of course ride a four stroke if they wish, its their choice, in the same way that some prefer pre 65 or twinshock. But a fourstroke is not a better trials bike and there is little excuse for the excessive noise.
  4. I may be wrong, its certainly happened before but ATF is not 10w 40 atf = automatic transmission fluid as recommended by Gas Gas UK, needs to be dexron 3. 10w40 is motor oil not atf
  5. no i borrowed craigs for one trial as I thought about one for the SSDT but one day was quite enough.... thort you went to school ?
  6. we should be supporting MSM, they provide the policy we actually need, ie road legal during a trial.
  7. I knew somehow that your post would refer to mileage you really need to move house or stop complaining. the rest of us are not and probably could not be accomodated on the Isle of Wight.

I hope the 4t is dead I have never liked them really, they cause more problems than they solve (we have won zero friends for cleaner emmissions but lost some friends due to the excessive noise). they cost more but are less effective unless you are called Toni and can spend 300k euro on a bike. Cabs did ok on his indoors but the rest of us dont ride indoors anyway. 2t all day every day for me

  12. I will not take the Pi55 Or a member of the Battensby family will remind me of the time I filled my Sherco with Diesel. To make matters worse I had just been explaining that it still was a really sweet motor despite having finished the SSDT a week earlier.... So I starts her up, lots of smoke, some kind of pinking and then it stopped. About an hour of fettling later somebody said they could smell deisel, put sherco tank contents into van ( actually deisel plus 80ml of two stroke) put fesh petrol into bike and hey presto. at least I didnt call the AA !
  13. actually theres a gas gas wheel on ebay which will probably fit if you change the bearings
  14. Your bike should have a set of chain tubes which are mounted on the rear wheel spindle via a bracket. The chain tensioner is fixed to the crank case near the gear box sprocket. As i recall one of the other changes on the Mk 3 was the design of the swinging arm which if you look in the photos has a kink upwards before the rear wheel spindle, you could try and copy this as it improved handling, or you could shorten the swinging arm but it depends if you want to mess around with it or just ride it. In short do answer your dos and donts question do sell it dont buy another ! only kidding, have fun
  15. the a82 closure could be a bigger issue although i'm not sure where exactly they mean but if we had to go off road to chairlift via kinlochleven and altnafeadh that would be utterly fantastic i do realise we have lost access to altnafeadh but even old gits like me can dream....

  17. the 300 has some serious grunt and when you think that one of the better national riders sponsored by GG is running a flywheel weight, inlet spacer and thicker base gasket you need to think do I really need that much power. you havent said what level you ride at ? I have an 09 280 with keihin carb and flywheel weight and recently tried an 09 300 with keihin which had done less work than my bike. The 300 was just too much, very torquey, but far too much go for me, I couldnt get across a camber on the 300 which I was cleaning on my 280. obviously I dont know if the 300 was jetted correctly or what the tyre pressures were etc but my impression was I wouldnt buy a 300 as I couldnt ride it as well as my 280. next bike is either a 280 again or a 250.

  22. two children under 4 plus Grumpy the teenager has discovered proper music... of course I have ear plugs I think we need to fit skis to the bike not tyres, dont think we'll be going anywhere this weekend.
  23. Cope is your Sherco an 06 or 07 ? my 07 came with the intergrated valve and since they came out I've never had to seal a rim tape, its been ok straight out of the box on my 07 Sherco and 09 gas gas. definitlely the way forward if you dont have one already
  24. HAM 2 given I have two beaders in the Baldilocks garage and a compressor its probably quicker to drive over here. I would prefer you to p--s about with a strap first just for my entertainment however and then I 'll do it in 5 mins with the proper kit ! happy new year mate
