think i'll get some wine in......
-
So how about this for a spanner in the works
Sherco start out with a bike very similar to a Gas Gas back in 2000, no real outcry from folks and from there they have developed a distinctive product.
Now they need to move on, guess what, they are going to copy the new Gas Gas frame
can somebody explain to me why nobody is kicking up a fuss about this yet when Xispa copy a Sherco there is an outcry ????
Me no understand !!
-
the 98 Black techno had Dougs name on the frame I think so you might get somthing older than your expecting !
-
I ve been running 6 in the front and 4 in the back for a good 20 years now whatever the terrain.
it used to be less but then I discovered beer, curry and pies
I'm 12 1/2 stone heavier riders may use more in the rear but I wouldnt go past 5 unless your 15 stone plus
-
clearly you need some sherco time
maybe you need somthing to aim for ?
I was thinking you havent rode the SSDT before so I should put an entry in for you, Ishy can brief you on bike hire and the weather will be better next year !
see yo in May cope

Right folks
can anybody answer this for me please.
I thought all bultaco 340cc models had a six speed box, is this correct ?
In my area there is a bultaco 340 but the owner claims its only a 5 speed ? is this some hybrid or did bulto make the 340 in both 5 and 6 speed versions ?
cheers

My dad bought one of those Steve Wilson bultos with the tank under the seat, it was beautiful. Chrome frame, gloss black tank and panels with white trim and yellow Bultaco decals. From what I recall the bike was very good.
BUT years later JCM copied the idea and it wasnt as successful. The first JCMs into the UK with this design had the TAU engine and whilst the lower centre of gravity and spotless filter elements worked well the downside was I could never get mine to run properly. A few years later Bon Gollner imported the Streit JCM with the Villa engine, it also had the tank under the seat but also didnt run very well. Birkett had one for a while and reckoned the problem was the distance between the filter box and the back of the carb ie when you opened the throttle it took longer for the additional air to arrive at the carb.
If Sherco are going this way I hope they get it to work but its not as easy as you might think.

Did this job tonight in about 2 minutes.
Use a syringe to force the fluid in from the bleed nipple end. Back off the adjuster on the lever so there is lots of clearance and remove the Mcyl cap and diaphragm. force the fluid through until it reaches the MCyl and then pump the lever a couple of times to remove any air, top up before replacing diaphragm and cap.
done

great result for Doug but can we take the Dougie blinkers off and give Dibs and Browny some credit ? 4th and 6th is pretty good.
thought the trial was great to watch so well done to those involved.
-
All credit to the organisers and observers at this years ssdt but I think the guys behind the cameras deserve special praise.
In the spikeyones photos theres another shot of me with my feet up, this is not the first and i'm even on video cleaning a section.
When you consider how many marks I lost they were very good at pressing the shutter !!
cheers
ps I dont mean the one when I'm on the road
-
Superb taste you have there Moffstar
I had this on a cassette tape and played on the way to the scott a couple of times, makes you want to go faster !!
long time since I rode the scott mind
-
Oh Goody
just completed the ssdt, all I need now is another two days of rain

-
Hi Bigfoot
vimeo wont allow me to veiw the video, as its private ?
sounds dubious
-
Pulling in the clutch will kill the drive but if your on a slippery or loose surface you will break traction again when you let the clutch out unless your very careful.
I put a slow action on my 280 on tuesday morning at the ssdt and it made the bike a lot easier to ride especially on the loose sections.
Its a cheap mod that will help calm down a powerful bike
-
If the xispa got that far then its as good as any other bike in my view.
227 finishers out of 278 entries, as only one xispa started it got further than some bikes.
-
Thought the radio show John did was really good and he was excellent at the awards presentation.
well perhaps a little cheeky, no flash photography indeed........
Well done MC Moffat
-
Cheers cope.
I'm quite chuffed with my result, I was hoping to get a first class award and did.
this years Wednesday was epic, carrying bikes across a waist deep river, two men to a bike, riding sections by jumping from bank to bank in 3rd gear between the cards. It was hard work but very satisfying to finish
I first rode in 86 and that was bad but I never doubted I would get home in 86, this year I was wondering when we got to that river. A spanish guy was washed away with his 4rt and ended up on a little island downstream.
roll on next year !
-
Xispa have signed a new rider
he looks nothing like her mind.......
-
Number 31 riding a visa/mastercard/halifax/bank of scotland/mams piggy bank/Gas Gas
get number 30 as well
there are no prizes for getting either of us with our feet down, any muppet with camera can catch that shot
-
Get lost !!
you have just been offered a place in the SSDT and your talking about cashflow
credit card ? Bank Loan ? sell your car sell your house whatever
c'mon tom get ya finger out
-
Big John are you serious ?
I've told Mrs Baldilocks to just put all of the familys clothes in the car
a straightforward approach to Scotlands unpredictable weather
-
Might be worth contacting Gas Gas uk, they may be bale to issue a V55 ?
-
