GIT
The bike is good Justin but that was my third trial since Reeth in July, last time out was 5 weeks ago on a twinshock Bulto.
first lap 44 marks, section 5 "this is like a saturn 5 rocket fastened to a shopping trolly", Section 8 "anyone want to buy a Gas Gas"
last lap 33 marks including slack five (too knackered) actually this is alright.
now as Perce has taken the contents of my bladder( good line Ham2) on an international web site does that make him a world class p*55 taker ?
revenge will be mine..........

Hydraulics can be awkward if you dont know what your doing
It sounds like you have air in the brake system somewhere
Johns point on the angle of your lever is important, the master cylinder holds fluid which is pushed into the caliper (not all of the fluid)via the brake line when you apply the brake. If the fluid level is low and the levers are at an extreme angle you will push air rather than fluid into the brake line.
take the cap off and fill the master cylinder to about 3/4 of its capacity. Once you fit the membrane and lid this should ensure that whatever angle the lever is fluid will enter the system not air when you pull the lever.
the second issue is the routing of the hydraulic line. to successfully bleed the system the M cyl MUST be the highest point. If your hydraulic line has a nice arc in it to clear the headlight before dropping back down to the M Cyl you wont be able to bleed the system. So I would zip tie the line to the forks somewhere to take up any slack and ensure the M cyl is the highest point, remove the adjusting bolt from the lever and just work the lever back and forward for a while . Any air in the system should bubble out, without you having to touch the bleed nipple.

You need to drain coolant, take the clutch case over off, take the clutch basket off then you can remove the gears and check them.
-
Right then
i dont like four strokes, they are noisey and expensive.
HAM2 thanks for the material........
so DIBS bike is up for

fair enough atom ant
do you use Mr Sheen or Pledge on your head ?
I tried solvol autosol a while back on mine but I was blinding the oncoming traffic......

I can see quotes from Dabsters post but I can t see Dabsters post, I have noticed this before on other threads, why are some posts removed ?
just wondering if Baldy is a reference to Baldilocks or is someone else a slaphead ?
just curious, no offence taken.
I tried to inject some humour into this thread at one stage but it seems to be getting rather bitter now.
do we really need this thread ? we are supposed to be people with a common interest in trials

Cheers Copemech
I know what your saying but I think the larger volume cylinder has a smaller diamater bore hole or the leverage ratio is slightly different. The bigger cylinder when fitted to a scorpa or a mont makes the clutch action lighter so i'm thinking that it must push less fluid per stroke of lever ? I mention the leverage ratio as if you look closely at the connection between piston and lever it doesnt line up perfectly so there is scope to adjust. I think that s why my sherco clutch action was slower / softer with the midi sherco standard AJP lever compared to the long lever.

well thats terrific
i didnt like religion to start with, you havent exactly improved my view of it.
Its sh*te really
BUT getting back to the topic do ghosts exist ?
-
JTX 270 will be watercooled
if its the water pump seal then the the coolant level should have dropped.
doubt its ally clutch plates causing the oil to go grey but hey, I'm an accountant !
-
Thanks for the that Peter
I'm finding that I dont have as much feedback in the clutch system as I did on my sherco so its harder to predict where the bite point is. Most of the GGUK team run the large master cylinder and as I have one lying around I thought I may as well try it.
If my new bike has any issues I think that nice Copemech chap will be considerate and not say why didnt you buy another sherco you baldy fool ! Evening Cope ........

I cant prove it but I think the Michelin has developed, for example at one point the X11 had a rib around the side wall which has now disapearred so something must have changed even if the name of the tyre hasnt. I still think the Michelin is the best value as it still grips when it looks finished.

Well thats another thread I've killed off
and not a donation in sight
-
Cheers Justin
I'll let you know how it goes

Hi Folks
just got a new 09 280 and I'd like to fit a larger clutch master cylinder and hose which I already have but which is designed for brake fluid not mineral oil.
I had thought I would need to change the seals in the clutch case to suit brake fluid but my dealer tells me that they are now coated and will work with either mineral oil or brake fluid. Before I trash the seals in my new bike can anyone confirm this ?
MANY THANKS

Anyway back to ghosts
I go to bed one night but wake up in the early hours to see Ghandi in the corner of my bedroom.
He was smiling but I was really scared, I blinked, he was still there, I blinked again he was gone.
about two weeks later it happened again, exactly the same.
on both nights I'd been drinking guiness at the local and then stopped off for a cheesburger on the way home.
I failed biology but I have been told that cheese makes you dream, I think the combination of guiness and cheese was too much for my brain (maybe guiness = keihin ??) and I was still asleep but thought I was awake.
Back to religion
the fulwell branch of the church of Ghandi starts next week and any donations will be welcome
our brethren are hoping to set up churches in other locations...... using your contributions.
apparently Ghandi has also been sighted in
Fort William
Sheffield Arena
Richmond ( although this is apparently some other Gods country ?)
Aberfeldy ( what a fantastic trial that was)
once we have a paypal account I'll let you know, we will accept prayers for new carpets, TVs, trials bikes and curtains.
regards
the right reverend baldilocks
ps I have no time for religion........whatsoever. I went to the states twice and had a great time though.

is the crank supposed to be symmetrical or are you saying its not central in the crankcase mouth where the barrel fits ?
-
Actually has this got anything to do with Cota Kid, doesnt he live in Dubai now ?
I had a lot of sympathy until I found out she is a dancer for the satanic sluts and actually has sha99ed brand and sold the details to the Sun
its all testicles really
trials bikes anyone ?

You can reduce the water getting in by taping up under the mudguard where it meets the back of the filter box and using silicone to seal the frame to the airbox above the carb and next to the shock. Finally silicone the mudguard to the filter box along the side and tape up the holes in the mudguard on the left side.
But if its really wet, like SSDT wet, you should also fit a tyre valve with the core removed to the underside of the filter box. If it rains take the cap off and any water will drain out. You can replace the valve cap when its not raining, if you do this mod grease the inside of the filter box where it meets the carb hose to catch any muck before it gets to the carb.
The valve mod also means if you do drown it you dont need to remove the filter box to get the water out.

I'd like to know what he thought of it, suppose next years entry list will tell us

Hi Bikespace
I have admitted to being 40 not 400
-
no he wasnt on the new one
You'll never guess which component failed on a Beta.........
Obviously joking aside its a great pity he went out.
-
How you doing addict ?
Mont disc has bigger cutaways so try fitting a Gas Gas disc instead, this worked for a mate of mine.
Best pads for performance I have found are DP (try shirty) but they damaged the discs on my scorpa. Goldfren pads are a good middle of the road option.
-
I used to run normal pressure 6 and 4 and only ever had one puncture and that was the year I was out of time .
My theory was if you have higher pressure you have less grip and therefore spend more time pushing the bike than riding it, especially if its wet. Your not really much better off in terms of time and you have lost more in the sections with higher pressures.

It was the first round dibs did on the TRW mont either france or spain and yes it was teh opening round

Birkett is expecting 09 2 strokes
