  1. Arnou is correct. The main reason for oil emulsion, is that the pump shaft develops wear grooves in it over time where the seal makes contact with the shaft. Replacing the seal alone won't solve the problem. If the shaft finish is not perfectly smooth, then 9 times out of 10, you will need to fit a water pump overhaul kit. BTW, Don't forget to use proper marine / water pump grease during re assembly.
  2. If you want to ride a proper trial EVERY weekend & have a choice of 2 or 3 events within an hours drive, then there is only one place : North Yorkshire.

    240 head mod

Leave headstock alone. Buy some new yokes. They are out there. Try Audit CNC. (Ad in Classic Dirt Bike)
  4. Its just an interference fit & these have been known to pop out. A gentle tap usually suffices. I fitted a longer tube & ran it up into the airbox. Works for me.
  5. In Motion, Bill Pye, Bob Wright Mcs' all in the UK & can keep you rolling. Lots of them in regular use over here. One the finest twinshockers out of the box bar none. Top motor & superb build quality, & head & shoulders above its counterparts. For the 21st century. drop the pegs & bring the steering up to date with a new set of modern yokes.
  6. All done Bike up & running. ? White wire is earth. Many thanks for your technical advice, & also worthy of mention is that Well known UK Chesterfield Trials Specialists : Spl*****p. Thank you folks. Original Fan Rec had a bad earth, so could have been likely initial cause.
  7. Been asked to sort out an old Pro !!!. (helping out a new start.) Has overheated. Fan & Stat tested out OK. Original Leonelli Fan AC/DC Rectifier u/s. (White 3 pin connector, Black / Red/ Yellow-earth). Replacement has arrived with a black 2 pin connector (black/ red, plus a single yellow (spade), & single white (bullet) wire. Kokusan wiring diag as per original Rectifier, so new Rec is a bit different. Single Yellow looks to be switched signal from stat, as per original, ( spade connector will hook up with original blue (!!!) wire from stat as per diagram. White wire I,m not so sure about. Think it might be earth, but would prefer to get it right first time. Firm believer in "If in doubt: Ask" . Have asked supplier, but Technical Support currently unavailable. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  8. looks like quite a nice flange anyway
  9. Owned them all back in the day. 200 was a game changer, but we all weighed 10 stone back then. It has its work cut out a bit now to haul around 14 clem. Superb build quality, so easy to ride & lovely soft motor, if a little underpowered as it is 156 cc. Showed the rest up when it came to build quality. Had the pleasure of owning Jack Galloways old bike as supplied by Roy Carey. 240 was a revelation, best bike out of the box bar none. Had a few of those. Wonderful bike. Zippy 212 cc motor probably best one of the lot. For modern use, drop the pegs & get a set of yokes from Ossie at Audit CNC, 300 bit of a big old lump. 249 cc motor I think. A bit of a half hearted effort by Fantic, as TY Monos ruled the roost by then, & they must have been thinking about monos. Steered OK, motor a bit lumpy & didn't rev too well. Acquired a reed valve on later mono models. Can be modernised, but still bit of a bus. IMHO, go for a well sorted 240 or why not try a 245 aircooled Mono, as this class is on the up.
  10. Get some Sealskinz socks chief. Ex Army or otherwise on T'interweb . They'll keep your feet dry for the most part. You can waterproof boots until you are blue in the face, but they will still let water in. Powerwash with bike & let air dry. Occasional visit to the cobblers for running repairs is all you need. There's a top cobbler in Northallerton, North Yorks who's rather good with trials boots. Bit of a challenge if you don't live in Gods County, (AKA The true Trials Central.)
  11. Will do. Glad to help. You'll have to be patient though, as I am unavailable until later on this month. Will provide all part number & hopefully some pics.

    199a Front Brake

Get hold of a Grimeca , ex Fantic SWM, etc. While your on, fit it up with the drum at the correct side. For some strange reason Bulto put it at the wrong side & cable routing is rubbish.
  13. Am reliably informed that a Beta EVO item can be modified to fit. Been told Audit CNC in NE England can do it. Plan to do it eventually on my 199B as standard item weighs a ton. They advertise in Classic DB
  14. Bought a 315 kit off Albert at Sadboy. Not inexpensive, but not as dear as other providers. Its a 3 ring kit, Size "B" . Came with all gaskets, etc. Circlips, pin, rings, piston all individually packaged with Honda part numbers. Piston itself has "Gilardoni" cast on the inside, plus a part number. (Gilardoni make all of the Beta barrels / pistons & probably other makes too. Have never had any bother with Beta.). Quality looks fine. Barrel off to Langcourts for Nikasil, & will no doubt have to take a great deal of care to ensure rings are in correct location, gapped, fitted right way up, etc, etc. Quite fortunate to have access to a Honda trained master Technician, so he will be doing the final fettling & build.
  15. Walk away !!! . T&T man dead right. Need to do something about your green fetish too, as it will get you into bother. At risk of infringing libel laws here, go talk to riders in the know. Check out what the local riders are on week in week out ??. As a good example, regularly, over 40% of entries in Gods county are on Beta's. Go for something that works & has a good back up service. Don't go for anything complicated unless its made by Honda, (Mont). Remapping, etc, etc. Favourite topic of b***sh****trs

    monty wont start

check your new fuel line is clear. Is it rubber ?? Have had experience with old skool rubber pipe & O rings swelling up with modern fuel, to the point of no flow.
  17. Take it out & stretch it a bit. Typical trials rider cheapskate mod !!!. ( in a similar vein : If too stiff, cut a few coils off.) Has worked for me for over 40 years.
  18. Speak to Splat shop. Not sure but Keihin PWK 28 might be the future. Not cheap. However some folks buy a copy off T'interweb & fit genuine jets, needle, etc.
  19. BTW, its advertised here on TC in the Events calendar. Stanley Club. mobile number there too.
  20. Hello, Nearest post code is DL13 3NN. Not sure which way you would get there from Barney. I get on the A68 at West Auckland / LH turn at High Etherley / Toft Hill road & take a left on the long straight on the A68 just before Witton Le Wear. ( signposted Hamsterley). Go into Hamsterley village & take a RH turn after the pub. (Bedburn). Follow road for a mile or two & it takes you right past the start field on the LHS. Easy to find.
  21. Bedburn 6th June, near Hamsterly. Perfect for beginners. Get yourself there, even if only to watch & ask loads of questions.
  22. North east Centre great for new starters. Butsfield quarry a good venue to get your hand in, plus lots of other venues in Weardale ,& North Pennines. Clubs : Stanley, Consett, Weardale, South Shields, Castleside, & Middle England all run events in this area. All usually advertised on TC. Apologies If I've missed any out. Richmond, Darlington clubs other side of A66. Scott Trial country, Reeth & surrounding areas. Richmond have their own website. Best to ride a few summer club trials now, to build up confidence before branching out into centre events, as they can be a bit more challenging. East Yorks also have some really good events. Guisborough, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Thirsk, Eboracum, Hull, & Pickering operate in this area. Some have their own websites. You are spoilt for choice, in this part of the world. At least 2 or 3 events most weeks, more in summer. All easily accessible. Need to contact chosen club secretary, & join. Then you will receive ACU code. Then apply for ACU trials registration card (£10). One or two clubs AMCA so no ACU requirement with those. Entry simple, turn up at least 45 mins before start time. Fill in entry form, pay your money, attach number, jump on bike, & follow the crowd. However, If you know a trials rider, its much better if they show you the ropes. If you don't like the look of a section, ask for a 5. No big deal. First time always a bit daunting,& some people take it far too seriously. Most folks are there to have a good day out on their bikes.

    Guards?

DAB products do white ones, which suits the white frames & look much better than carbon fibre. Not too dear either.
