  1. Here is a thread with many opinions. Watch for the link in it from the Hell Team. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/marzocchi-fork-maintenance-de-mystefied.1018648/
  2. Sounds like they re used the o rings and barely pinched one. Keeps one busy.
  3. Cut off an allen key and use a wrench on it.
  4. Try to ride something that your mind can see the possibility of death. It`s far easier in trials to do that than going fast. Going fast and fear has to deal with the sudden stop. Trials is the death defying ride. Speed not needed.
  5. So did the head come off during the rebuild? ( The head never really has to come off)
  6. The slower gearing will help slow the crashes. I`ve seen guys all my life come out and ride almost anything, (Once) and never see them again. Trials is about turns and obstacles. Any bike will roll over anything. They all have the same things in common. Tires, handlebars and foot pegs. You either learn how to do it correctly or quit (crash) and fade into a memory.
  7. With a 9, you just have to gas it more. With the 10 you need to use just a tad more clutch. You could of kept the stock gearing, but then you would have to make the clutch work better. Second with the nine is the same issue, just get the clutch working a bit better. (Plenty of threads on this too.)
  8. The Montesa requires an 1800 rpm idle. No getting around that.
  9. I actually had a new set of Dunlaps ready to be mounted and ran out of time. I do not think the new tires would have made a difference in my score, and yes we had a little mud as the sections were following a canyon with a stream.
  10. I just rode the National in Colorado in the Vintage Twinshock class on a 1976 Cota 348. The old Michilen was splitting cross wise on the knobs about 1/3 of the tire. So about 12 really bad cracks. I cleaned 28 of 36 sections. New tires are over rated.
  11. I`ve been doing it since 1970 (And today too) I`ll be doing it this way till I can`t ride, which means I`m dead.

    Fork Seal

60 mm right, 120mm left and as light of oil you can find. Measurement is the correct method.

    Fork Seal

    http://www.lewisportusa.com/manuals/sherc_11-21-09/sherco_fork_seal_replacement-1.pdfThe Sherco was real close.
  15. Suspension is all about timing. Has nothing to do with any brand. A good rider can make anything hop. The best new bike is the TRS. The best bike for 2016 with a good dealer network would be the Sherco/Scorpa. RYP is awesome. The 4Rt is a good bike, not for you to learn to hop. Nothing wrong with the Beta either. Fuel injected 2 strokes are not rider friendly. (Unless you are a patient nerd that thrives on not riding.) Trying to be the most honest.
  16. Learn to do them correctly straight on. (Double blip, Jap Zap or splatter) And it is the same at an angle.
  17. Dig the biggest hole you can. It`s an excavator, not a dozer!
  18. PM the OP directly. Click on there name, send a private message. My son spent the entire weekend with Mike Carlton drooling over the TRS. Nice!
  19. Only one runs a fork brace. But it`s far from stock. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/the-compleat-yamaha-ty80-thread.574301/page-26#post-28725711
  20. They `lost` quite a few riders on that steep down hill. It was too steep to return to the trail again. They were left too cut there own trail back to camp. One of them was a Pro riders minder. He was still missing his minder at Colorado!
  21. The pin between the lever and the master cylinder piston can be shortened. Do this in small steps to get it right. This is the best solution for small hands. Good luck.
  22. Yeah, my son is at Stock Ranch Colorado already. The Tillamook National I`m sure he will remember always. Perfect first National from my stand point. Thanks to all that worked on the event!
  23. The young riders are used to very short loops and sections there mommy`s can get to, too watch. The older guys enjoy a day long ride and never rode to impress people, just have the fun themselves. The new riders of the last 20 years have no appreciation that the loop is actually part of the event. Also people forget what the old twin shocks are capable of, but slippery long down hills was not real fun on one. Just hope my 348 makes it through the Colorado event!
  24. Just talked to my son. Frexia easily won both days. Very slick conditions and silly loop. No cell service at the event, so info slow coming out. http://mototrials.info/?trigger=result&format=sn08&15plus=Y&ser=10&yyyy=2016&dd=18&mm=06&cityid=or&sct=12
  25. My PWK has worked flawlessly ever since I added the second vent.
