Any Yamaha shop should have them as they fit many models. 260-14142-40-00 is a 40 pilot in a Yamaha part #.

What you really need is an air compressor and 1/2 in impact wrench. Along with a good socket set.

Seems like I saw someone with a later model pro having the same issue.. The early years needed prying out from both sides at once.

If you tighten the adjuster TOO much the fluid CANNOT return to the master cylinder.

You won`t miss it, it`s just half a screw and a hassle anyway.

Like I said I had my kid start it for me till I got it. But he`s 6`4.

Actually on the Gasser using your body weight is a no. It will accelerate the wear on the kick start pawl (Bart) and could break the case.

First loosen the adjuster on the front brake lever until you have excess play. The adjuster being too tight is 50% of brake problems.

Well we have people that have been riding 3 or more years, all under the modern rules. They still seem to look for a spot to pull the clutch in and just stop, not just ride all the way through. Or they will try to balance while using the clutch for no real reason. If they would of never stopped, would have easily cleaned the section. Just mind boggling that this goes on month after month. From my very first event, the clean was the only score I wanted. These riders insist a three is the safest bet. But I`m glad they ride as we need the scorers!

Because of our stupid all day dab rules, trials has hundreds of new riders that really have no real control other than pulling in the clutch and hitting the brakes while dabbing. You are not riding the bike anymore, that is overuse of the clutch! People do this over and over in every section and think they are riding trials. Of course all the good riders use the clutch 90% of the time. We are talking new riders, they think the clutch is there best friend. When in reality every time they use it, a dab or two is the result. Most never learn throttle control, just panic, pull in the clutch and dab. I could take pictures all day long tomorrow at our event of this happening.

The piston has to be at top dead center and you must first engage the kick start gears. Then a strong fast kick. You cannot start with just kicking it. You my lay the bike over till gas comes out the carb to prime it. I used to have my son start mine until I got it right. Riding trials 44 years and the kid has to start the bike.LOL

From watching new riders while scoring, most points are taken from over use of the clutch. You have made a good point, throttle control is very important and is almost a lost art with todays bikes and riding styles. As Paulmac has stated, tight circles are the most basic practice. Good luck.

The master cylinder is on the bars, I assume you are talking about the slave cylinder. Be very carful not to pop the slave`s piston out.

Score also is decided by what rules you run. A high scoring trials with the all day dab is considerably harder than no stop. Either way good flowing sections usually bring out the most smiles no matter the class.

You need a larger pilot jet for your running problems. The plastic melting was caused by the spark arrestor.

Be prepared to get wet, real wet. P.S. if after your first ride they start knocking, you get to do it again.

You actually did not need new plates, you just needed the correct finger height. 17mm.
