Getting up this ledge requires a good quick clutch. This bike has always had the gm auto trak 2 in it since new. 12 years and the engine has never been touched. Almost a record for a Pro motor.

They changed the color, the frame geometry, and the air box. And maybe the CDI. Which means almost nothing in the manual. 2004 had the most changes for the Rev 3`s

Actually the factory came up with ATF. Jim and Dale were using GM auto trac 2, the blue stuff at 15 bucks a quart. Which worked better than anything. Then all of a sudden it was ATF only. That 75 wt makes the clutch lethargic. Trials riders have used atf for decades. Just wait till you actually have to work on this beast!

Pretty simple, 75wt will lube it fine. But ATF will make the clutch work. Remember to change often as it`s the transmission oil on the Pro that lubes the mains. Not the two stroke mix.

The 300 sounds like a street bike. Just quit doing wheelies and nobody would look.

The clamps are re-usable time and again. The gassers have been pushing coolant since `94.

The little black circle just pops out from the front, but could break the tab due to age. Sounds like a cracked frame. Had a 2002 with several.

Some Showa`s died along the way. Hard to get a replacement bladder etc. No telling what previous owners could of done.

Yamaha`s don`t use shims. Washers maybe.

That`s funny! A full size van rides better than most things on the interstate. Around town, that`s another animal. Halfway home from our trials last weekend, I lost my power steering (in my conversion van) on I-40 while doing 80 mph in a pretty good crosswind. That thing drove like a sinking boat all the way home!

Cope has the right idea, chain too tight (Too loose). Chain tensioner, wheel bearings, something rubbing? Sprocket about to break the hub?

Good chance the main bearings are bad. Pull off the flywheel cover and grab the flywheel and check for play.

I won my first trials on a red JT1. I was in Carl Shipman`s book, Trials Just For Fun several times on that bike. My next bike was Shipman`s Cota 247.

Cold start enrichment system lever position sometimes can be the problem if this bike is new to you. It has to sit just right or it is partially open.

Sounds like it could be a choke circuit problem. Dell Orto?

Most of these guys ride modern bikes, but like to harass our vintage club. The kid on the `80 going vertical on the concrete wall actually won the event overall against the big boys bikes. I`ve had a Dunlop GP on my gasser for six months no problems. Two weeks ago I put one on my sons Sherco with the morad rim. He rides hard and so far he loves it.

One tooth is not much assuming that you are still running 428 chain. Tony I assume an 11t rubs? You may need to go up on the back too. Problem is the too tight of sections for the older bikes. I had the same problem last weekend on a 348 Cota.

A properly jetted Rev 3 will not knock.

You need to pull the flywheel to make sure you did not shear the flywheel key.

They used the Scorpa for the `test the waters` to see if the new old Sherco would work. Sherco must realize they just made the same mistake that coca cola did with `new coke`.
