Anyone remember the video of the german scorer beat the crap out of the mouthy rider, about mid 90`s? We might see that again at TTC. For those of you saying non-stop is boring, bet me!! I see a road trip in may!
-
What happened to pages 2-9. Did I miss another rant to set Sting in motion. He started off really good, somewhere, someone, or something ruined his day. For some reason six hours of riding does not set well with some people! By the way, check out the mototrial us website on friday the 1st of march for a new USA website!

Yes, I just did this last week on my son`s bike. You could need a new clutch, but check if it is out of spec first. The plates come in different thickness. From 1.3-1.6, you will need to have it checked for proper set up.
-
The height of the fingers in the clutch is too much. It has to be brought back down with a thicker steel plate. Check the proper thickness for the clutch pack. One plate is cheaper than a new set!
-
If you had spark before the rebuild I would suspect the ground.

I have to agree more with Zippy every time I read his posts. I am for no stop mainly to get rid of the all day dab. (Formally a 5 since you are no longer riding!! All these `new` riders whining about getting a 5. Try actually being in control.)
My son plays basketball. (All year!) I think the chest pound the refs do while counting could easily be adopted to our sport. It would be fair, seen by all and easily taught to a scorer. My opinion would be a three count for any stop of forward motion. It would take away a quick five, give the rider a chance to continue and everyone watching would know when the 5 would be called. Foot down or not. Three seconds and go or die!
-
So where are you riding your new creation? Looks great, but for what purpose.
-
Well the only thing you did not mention is if you are getting fuel. Here is some other posts that may help. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/43781-my-new-1975-montesa-cota-247-pics-hot-starting-problems-its-my-first-two-stroke/

The reason most bikes don`t have a drain is because an air leak would be quite expensive. Years ago when we had deep water sections they where a life saver to get going again!.
-
You should check the float level. But I would never kick a bike that much. Yes, you flooded the cylinder. The trouble is a wet plug will not spark! Trials bike or not.
-
Great post!!!! Thank you! Heard anything on the rear?
-
Turn the fuel off and stuff exhaust. Anything to do with the tires spinning or causing a fuel spill is just insane if you have ever see this happen. I`ve seen five grown men try to wrestle it down to instant fires to a broken leg by the rear tire!
-
To get neutral, go down to first. Then with your heel give a short quick kick up on the shifter. Never will find it with the toe.

Most years the ama rules made very little sense with club or the national rules. And yes if you stopped and balanced it was a 5. That is why we used to call balancing a wasted skill. Now what you might be actually reading was a quick slight pause as we did not call it, a fast five as people are the most worried about. But stopped with a foot down was a 5 no question. The bikes could run so slow without the clutch it was like driving an automatic, heavy flywheels and we ran with no idle set.
-
All you are going to find is a parts breakdown. You might get lucky and somebody on here will have the one page owners manual. It takes around 500cc trans. fluid. It should have a sight glass. Be careful on the radiator cap as the direction is marked wrong.
-
Glad you found a problem as you went back through the bike! Do not forget reply #13. The oring is needed but check that choke assembly.
-
The bike has been altered for a trail bike. The swingarm has been extended for increasing the wheelbase. I cannot tell from the pictures, but has the forks been raked out? Just recently seen one with the forks raked out to be a desert sled. The bikes been modified, but not to make it a better trials bike!
-
It can be hard to find. As it now has been smashed into the teeth and sounds just like a bad rod. ( To give the shop some credit it does sound like a bad rod bearing, but it`s not!!!!) You might even need a magnifying glass and go tooth by tooth to find it!

Never cared for the KT. Don Smith did come through town and did a demo. Afterwards a few of us local experts spent the afternoon just play riding with Don. Don was great never paid much attention to what the bike did, all rider!
-
If the standard is 33 120 for seal-level should i not really go down in numbers as there's less air?
All the bikes come lean from the factory.
-
p>What Brucey is saying you could have bad gas. Good thing to replace the fuel no matter how `new` it is. I have just seen the same symptoms on a Honda power washer at work. Needs half choke, idles poorly and makes lousy power! Worth a shot
-
Have you tried your friends silencer on your bike to see if that improved the problem?
-
Yes you can just `grab` the flywheel to check the mains. If nothing else it helps to eliminate problems. Best advice would be to try a `buddies` carb. We can talk for hours about what you have done to the carb, nothing like a good carb to swap. Which I know can be hard to come by. Did you remove the pilot jet and choke jet, clean and check both circuits were not blocked? The pilot actually flows out of two locations. Directly under the slide and a small hole in front of the slide. Keep trying they are a nice bike when running properly.

Recommend type: ATF DEXRON III Alternatives: NOTE: Gas Gas Spain recommends only Dexron III automatic transmission oil at this time. Oil type warning: DO NOT USE #12378508 GM auto-trac II (blue) oil Never use synthetic oil in the transmission~clutch. The synthetic oils are “stickier” and this adhesion tendency, when applied to the areas between the clutch plates contribute to excessive clutch drag. Some brands of synthetic oil will chemically react when mixed with water, (from creeks, rain, or waterpump seal leakage). This reaction alters the pH factor of the oil. This acidic condition accelerates corrosion of steel engine parts, and loosens the bond of the clutch fiber plate material. Please do not second-guess this information. We have twelve years of experience with the Herbringer/Adige brand clutch plate materials, and we are in direct contact with the technical department at Gas Gas Spain. This info put out by the same people that recomended Mobile One for years and the Blue GM Auto Trac for the Pro`s.
Jon is right to use the clutch when shifting. By the way the Raga also uses an aluminum shift drum.
