My son`s 2012 Sherco the frame was like Spaghetti. Started with the center bolt from the triangle to the cylinder head. No matter, loktite etc this bolt would just come out almost every ride. finally went to a long one and double nutted it. I also had to carry a 5lb hammer to straighten the pegs out all the time. And yes it would rub the chain.

The 2008 with the Keihin was the best running Rev 3 of them all. I had a 2003 270 that I owned ran like a 125 and I came across a 2006 270 the same way. The 2006 I even changed carbs on, no matter what I did it never would run out right. They both seemed like the timing never advanced with the rpm.

Anything that old can be tough finding parts. That is just the honest truth as this is a small sport. So either A Montesa 4RT or the latest Beta evo you can find.
-
Takes 1 liter. The drain is the allen head. If you removed the bolt under the shifter that was a dedent for your shift drum and the stop for the kick start spring! The fill was hard to get to, like under the exhaust header top of the engine. Been decades since I had one.
-
Just because the kickstarter does not move does not mean it is the piston. It can also be the starter itself or worse, the rod.
-
115-118 main. I would go the 115 if you are riding up from there and a 52 pilot jet.
-
Yeah, I agree they look the part. But, I will stick to the old fashioned CDI bikes with a carb. Just as you like the Vertigo, I loved the Ossa but am sure glad I never owned one.
-
Vertigo is different, nothing on that bike does anything better than the other brands. TRS is the one that has made the most progress. A better bike, and the numbers sold worldwide proves it.
-
In theory that would be a great idea. But would it limit progress in next years designs. Maybe the stock bike, but bring rear shock, carb and CDI box?
-
A good friend had a new 2011 300 that the top hat seals in the clutch cover were bad from day one. He went almost 18 months till he had me replace them. So you are not loosing fluid anywhere? And you are using mineral oil?
-
-
The Pro motor has nothing like that. The old TXT motor had a drain for the crankcase itself. Very handy when you take the bike swimming.
-
ATF is the best way to a faster clutch.

Depends how much riding you do. Watching the Dad`s carrying backpacks full of batteries around is not my idea of fun. The automatics are the worst thing we had. Started with a PW50, Beta Auto, 2- TY80`s. Then a gas gas big wheel 80, Beta 250, Raga 300, Beta 300 4T and now a TRS 300 RR. He is now 22. Just started my grandsons riding. On TY 80`s. 9 and 11. The oldest one is short, so he will be on the TY for awhile. Opposite of my son, who was pushing 6 foot in Elementary school. No matter which bike you end up with, the kids don`t really start getting good till 12-13 years old. At that age you can see them improve with almost every ride.

Just before the white tube throttles came along, everyone ran a small ramp. It was just a slim piece of aluminum that fit in the throttle housing to make it a fast throttle. I am sure it is very similar.
-
The Sherco info came out the first week in June.
-
So go back to the 115 main, 52 pilot and move the clip to the third one down.
-
Both of those are junk compared to a ty 80. You have not a clue what a good ty80 can do.
-
You are probably correct on this Billy. As when I bent my bars, I swear I felt my toes hit my lever. By the way, I have always ran my lever with no tip. So it is barely a stub sticking up.
-
We have more people in our club that have gone back to 2 strokes after owning a 4RT. And a few that went to a Beta 4T. And only one that had a 4RT Repsol, then four Beta 4T`s and now rides a 300RR. Everyone wants to own a Honda in theory, but not everyone can ride one! I guess I am waiting for the 351RR.
-
It becomes a mess if you mix the wrong fluid. Or that could be what is wrong with the clutch!
-
I believe the `03 used dot 4. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. The clutch should have a green cap on the mc if it takes mineral oil.
-
PS.
The trick to getting the kick start lever off is just loosening the bolt two - three turns and folding out the lever. It pry`s itself off pretty slick.
-
It is best to lay the bike on the ground while working on the clutch. You do not have to drain the coolant. Just fold the cover to the side and use a strap to hold it out of the way. There is a small washer that goes on the KS shaft. It usually sticks to the case. Don`t lose it. You can just measure the finger height. 17.5 mm is the best. If you are down around 14mm the plates are swollen.

Yep, my boss took his son`s to South Africa for a motorcycle tour on Yamaha 660`s. Somewhere I still have the video of the eldest son adjusting his go pro helmet cam at about 60 mph. He missed a corner and smashed his right foot into a boulder. His Gaerne`s did little help. Very expensive trip, with the medi-vac and the bike was totaled.
Myself I continue to sit down and smash my toes at least a few times a year. My Gortex Garne`s left Italy this morning.LOL.
