I truly believe that price is the main factor that is stopping the 4 strokes from having a bigger market share than they currently have. If they were significantly better than 2 strokes, then at least there would be a justification for the big jump in price. Until the playing field is levelled a bit price wise, or they can start performing better than 2strokes, I don't see it changing too much from it's current situation.

Jay:
Interesting topic my old friend. I hate to be the one to correct you on one point though. I believe the myth about American women buckling at the knees when hearing and Englishman talk, is actually reserved for us Canucks, who are in fact all transplanted Scots, Englishman and Welshman!! That is all, continue with your discussion now!

Very nice post Atom!!! It baffles me how some people can ask such silly questions sometimes. Here is a guy, Dougie, that has not only risen to the highest point in his sport, but set records in doing it. All the while carrying himself with a great demeanor and representing the country that is the birthplace to the sport. All the while during his tenure that still continues, inspiring young Brits to believe that they too can acheive the same heights. To that end, I believe that Dougie is only half way through his trials career. Perhaps in the second half he will satisfiy the nay-sayers about his contribution to the sport!

Why do you hate it??? You must have some good reasons for such a strong opinion? Too small? too light? Ah, I know......too quiet!

Just trying my luck with all you Fantic nuts out there. I am in desperate need of a front brake arm for a 300 Fantic. Or I would settle for a 240 brake arm and shaft. Can anyone help?

NC or Lee:
Can either of you guys tell me the standard specs for the 96 Section........what spark plug....jets etc
-
Hey there Nine:
Just curious where and when you got your TMI-TL frame.............I was once sponsored by TMI and actually lived in Cookieville for a couple of years..........fond memories!

Glenn:
I agree with your rant on build quality on my Fantic's too. It just astounds me that such a company with clearly a great product, went bankrupt not once, but twice. I just got another Fantic in the stable this past weekend, a 96 Section which belongs to my Dad. I never owned one of these in the day, but after seeing it and looking at the unbeleivable amount of cutting edge ideas that went into play with this bike, it's unbelievable that they are not still in business. Things like adjustable footpegs positions and adjustable flywheel weights, and power valves. If these things were implemented in todays bikes, not only would they be successful, but still cutting edge! I am even contemplating getting another modern Fantic as a project bike and making it competitive for todays riding.

Lee:
I desperately need a front brake arm for a 300 Fantic, the floating type. Alternative is replacing the whole backing plate to the non-floating type like the 240, complete with brake arm. Anyone help??

Cheers NC...............one more for the collection!!

One for Lee or someone else who know's. How much oil in the bearbox of a 96 Section. Just picked up a cherry one for me Dad. Will post pics when it is all going!

Lane, in fact your were never banned or sensored. You did however point a personal attack on the NATC and Wiltz and accussed them of something, perhaps someone more savvy than me can use that quote thingy now. Andy as the owner and moderator will not tolerate personal attacks on this site. he did ask for a response to the accusations from you, which you did not answer yet. Whoever complained about you, must have felt pretty strong about it. From an outsider looking in, I think that you could put this to bed once and for all if Andy asked you some point blank questions, and you answered them clearly and consisely without going on a rant because we already know how you feel about things. You have some good points, but unless you are willing to put the effort into your beliefs, it makes them sorta hollow compared to the effort by the NATC and it's members. I guess that in itself is what makes people mad to begin with. You have the experience and the knowhow to make some headway, If you don't have the time because of your business, fair enough, but you should lay off those who are trying even though you don't agree with the philosophy.
Have a nice day!

So Kinell, have you had enough rides on the new Rev4 to really give us your impressions, likes and dislikes ? I know initially everything you had to say was really good, and not saying it still isn't, just curious how you are feeling about it so far??

Some really nice bikes over the years come to mind. The mono Yam when it first came out! Or how about the first Beta Zero and that aluminum frame?? The 94 yellow and black Techno and the current Beta 4T are fav's too! Of course most of the old Fantic twinshocks are beauty's too!

Vicx:
Nice shot of your bottom there! Do I dare ask how it got SO red? Does this mean we'll see you back on the pegs again soon? Apparently you're too sore to sit down anyway!

OK, now we are getting to weird here! Andrew, I was over there working last year installing handrails in a townhouse complex right beside the Hotel just outside of Ganges.Harbour House I think it's called. I am a finishing carpenter, and have my own company over here.Small world eh! Bob met me a couple of times for lunch while I was over there! He also comes over to Shawnigan for some club events! you can contact him through a personal message on here. Just click on My Controls and you can access the personal messaging. His handle is Masso! Good luck!
cheers, Steve
PS. Oh and by the way, with almost 2 periods over, the Canucks lead the Habs 3-0. I smell shutout for Luongo!

Defenitely worth it mate! You are welcome here at my place anytime! Loads of riding right out of my backyard!

Good god, the only thing worse than a Leafs fan, is a Habs fan! I can excuse a Scotsman living far away from here to be not too bright when it comes to choosing a favorite team, but as for the rest of you .Any way we shall see tonight as the Canucks take on those lowly Habs who are doing OK this year!
By the way floored, there is also a famous artist living on your island by the name of Bob Masse. He is also an avid trials rider who is often on this board, going by the handle of Masso. He has done some cool work over the years, most notibly posters for many big rock bands, the Stones, Bob Dylan etc. He has a website, I will have to remember the address.

Hi there Floored:
Which Island are you from??? I am on the big island here in Shawnigan Lake. We have a club here, the ISTC. Island Sports Trials Club. I am the current President. We currently have a big contingent from Saltspring who ride all our club events over here. I would gladly help you out with any questions you have about the sport, or riding techniques! You can get my email address off here as well!
Cheers, Steve

Masso:
With the money you have already spent on that 4RT and the coin you are proposing to spend to get some power out of it, you could have bought a 2stroke that has way more than you need out of the box............and had enough left over to be able to afford to ride it all over the country!!!!! And.....dude, you already said your bike was the cat's meow anyway!!! what's up with more power??
cheers, Steve
-
Guys:
Outlaw Accessories in Canada makes the best bumbag available period!!! Even Dougie and Mart have used them! Check it out at the website that Taff provided!

I will add my name to the list of people who rode in 92 then.My first and only year. If I remember correctly, according to the rules half the enty should have been excluded on the first day due to time violations. A "special" allowance was made to ensure this didn't happen. I think Robert Crawford was among those who would have been DNFed the first day. I was told it was an unusually wet year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers, Steve
