  1. Hi Ross , have you tried to fit a mono one to a 300 ? if so do they look reasonable , thanks Pat
  2. Hi , whats the spares situation like on the 300TX for things like rear mudguards seat pads etc ? I presume Italy would be the best place to look or does anybody know better , thanks
  3. Looks great Stuart, the guys I know must have been unlucky , I may also now bite the bullet
  4. Hi , the model 26 mk 3 matador has a different front wheel to all varients of the el montadero. However the mk4 model 75 matador does share the same front wheel as both the model 70 and 81 el montaderos . However (again) ! both wheels should fit apart from maybe the spindle size as the matadors shared the leading axle fork bottoms with the Sherpa and the el montaderos had the same bottoms as the pursang .What front wheel is fitted at present , post a pic and maybe we could identify it
  5. i know a couple who have bought them and the fit is not great and they leaked
  6. Hi,your pipe should run much closer to the head fins ,looks like you have a repro pipe , I have a model 85 with a repro front pipe that has been tweaked with heat to make it run more parallel to the fins
  7. Hi Rick I have crated a complete bike before now, but if you took it to pieces it would easily go on a euro pallet then just make a box affixed to this and your good to go , last one I sent to the US was about 300 pounds but took a few weeks to arrive . They normally charge on size rather than weight and prefer if it can be stacked . if you are coming to the uk buy one here and I would assist you to get it all sorted
  8. mk7 model 120 aka jim pomeroy replica , fantastic bultaco
  9. Would just like to say thanks to all the organisers and observers at the Nostalgia yesterday , brilliant trial , all sections sensible but some testing to sort the men from the boys . weather was terrible so again thanks to the observers who had to stand out in the rain, top job all round.
  10. Stuart , the outer covers were chromed on some of the 27s as well as the model 26 matador , maybe others as well but theses are the only 2 models i have seen with the remnants of the chrome .The original brochures and owners manuals show the chrome detail as well . You have to ask yourself why though ?
  11. Dave curtis rode the Triumph twin engined sapphire as did John burton and Terry challinor for a brief spell although what engine they rode with i dont know
  12. John , is the model 11 you are referring to on the car and classic page? If so, this bike is so far removed from a correct model 11 it can only be classed as an amalgam of Bultaco parts of various years , apart from the cerianis it is sporting !
  13. Hi, why not run it as a 363cc with the 85 mm piston ? like you say its basically a mk9 but they were 1976 ish . I don't think it would put prospective buyers off if its a full 363 , a Spanish collector would be far more interested in the 173 prefix as like you say are relatively rare .One year at the mavern off road show there was a guy selling 2 of these 173 motors serial nos 1 and 3 , at the time I baulked on the price,i will check if I have a std 85mm piston
  14. The model 4 was originally the Sherpa n trail bike first 155cc then a handful of 200cc were built , they were not a proper 1 day trials bike more of a gentle green laner . however both Tom ollerton and Dan shorey modified their bikes to be more suitable as a proper trials bike . The model 4 designation was continued but used for the first (200cc) and second(250cc) series matador enduro type machines ,even though the matador mk2 was called a model 16 the serial nos always started with a 4 .The model 10 Sherpa T was the first true bultaco trials bike with serial nos starting with 10 .

    Model 10 Frame

4 speed and 5 speed cranks are different , the model 10 had a needle roller little end as standard so the bronze bushed one is probably from a mercurio or similar early 4 speed bike . You could source a crank from a model 16 matador (engine no will start with a 4 )or model 11 pursang which are both very common in the usa and are often being broken on ebay usa
  16. I bought one to fit a TFS from greeves ,was told it would bolt straight on but it needed considerable work to even come close , the front pipe wasn't too bad but the silencer box weighed a ton and had absolutely no baffle or anything inside , what a waste of time
  17. The later model 91 and 92 had the panels trimmed to allow for the wider down tubes of the 2nd series frame , the later 199 were similar but not sure if the tubes spay out further
  18. If its the ratchet(which it sounds like it is ) , you will have to split the cases , I did one not so long back and it was the small peg which the ratchet rides up against was bent. Its a pain but its the only way to sort it .
  19. Hi , I have noticed the cylinder head has a compression release between the 2 spark plugs , if this is faulty it will allow air to pass , take it out and replace with standard plug , make sure it has piston clearance though..
  20. I have an original set somewhere , if I can dig them out I will draw a template . they are not very substantial though that's why sam made tubular ones , they do look good though
