hi everyone,if anyone can shine a light on this i would be very grateful,we have among other bikes a ty80 which has just had a re bore, new piston etc etc(carb rebuild kit about 3 outings ago) so today our first outing since the re bore and after about 1-2 hrs of gentle riding(no more than half revs) with a couple of little breaks in between we stopped for something to eat and drink(20 mins) and when we went to start it it wouldn't start, there's a good spark, stripped carb and nice and clean and clear?? seams strange as it didn't break down,we stopped it.

Always liked the looks of those bikes. Never seen one in person and not even sure if many made it to the USA. How do they compare to the production bikes of the same ERA, such as the TY and MAR, plus more.

Hi. i bought a set of TY250 forks to fit to my TY175. The problem is they don't have the lug on the fork that retains the arm that holds the brake drum in place. I thought the forks were inter-changeable but obviously certain TY250's had different forks. Can any one advise how to get these to fit. If I need a new wheel or drum to match does anyone know what specific TY variation these forks are from. My TY175 is a 1976 american market edition. bought as a non runner and now working fine. these forks are apparently from a 1977 TY 250. I am a complete novice, I'm just getting back into bikes after a very long lay off and hopefully into some trials once bike is sorted and i'v…

2 Questions: How far can you safely bore a TY175 (beyong 68mm) without resleeving? Does anybody know what size bore the Majesty website 200 kit uses?

  8. Started by scorpa250,

Hi All, Nearly finished my Majesty and I am in two minds what exhaust to use Option 1 WES center box with no rear silencer Option 2 two part WES system but by the looks of it it will need cutting and welding on therear silencer. Option 3 refub the original system I will ride the bike when done so performance is a factor. your opinions welcome Regards Scorpa250

Hi there, i'm new to this forum malarky, so if I've posted this in the wrong place, I apologise now. I have bought my son a TY80 Whitehawk that needs a few bits and bobs done before we go out and learn gears on his first ride. I have been trying to locate a 250-20 front tyre, but no one seem to be selling them. Any ideas where I can get them from? Everything seems to be 19 inch, or 21. My searching for 20 inch throws up mountain bike tyres! Also, how do I date the bike? The engine number is 451-107284, but I cant find the frame number as yet. Its not stamped on the headstock, so hope to find it once I get the tank off? Cheers, Dan

Hi everyone. I just picked up what I believe to be a 1979 Yamaha TY250. The VIN numbers on the frame and engine are the same: 493-100302. Does anyone have a picture of a complete bike? I am having no trouble finding parts and information for the 74 but the 79 I can't find much information at all. Wondering what the seat/fender setup is supposed to look like. Also it has a 21" front tire. Is this correct? I am going to restore it back to factory specs. Thanks in advance for any help. Here is a picture.

Hello esteemed and revered friends! so i finally got the ol' girl all finished (74 TY250a), with many many thanks to all you on here i'm deep in gratitude. So I recently left my job where i kept/worked on my bike (i'm onto bigger/better things) but sadly lost the indoor semi heated storage facilities. so now its the in-laws unheated garden shed in upstate NY! seeing as the winters here are super cold and brutal and i have a few other things on, I've decided to put her away till next spring when i have a bit more time to enjoy her Ive looked at many vid's on line regarding winter storage and there seems to be some confusion about whether to drain the tank or fi…

  13. Due to the home projects I had going (new boat shed) plus some upcoming winter weather and the extended time it took to get a cylinder re-bored and plated, new piston, etc, I have not actually started putting the engine back together. That is because of one other nagging problem that is bothering me. That is the missing needle out of the upper needle bearing cage that was part of the engine when I tore it down. I noticed that it was missing from the cage when I took the piston off the con rod. There was a rag under the piston, but with my luck it could have found it's way down into the cases under the flywheel. I have looked everywhere for it…

I have a B model 250 with the original Mikuni that I've been trying to setup for a few years. The motor as a .005 inch head gasket, is on 3rd os, the exhaust port is '' lifted'' .020 inch, the rest of the ports are not modified, not really polish but clean. There is no modified reed valve. I run Shell super gaz with a good oil at 50:1. I fitted a Uni Filter and the motor is equipped with a Wes exhaust. I played with the timing without any real improvement.I have been fiddling with the needle eight, low speed and main jet, air screw etc. but the motor is always running hot at close throttle to 1/4 open . I fitted a VM 26mm played with it all of one summer and went back to …
