Twinshock

Does anyone know anything about the early development Suzuki prototypes of Gordon Farley? Or have any pics? There's one pic each in Don Morley's "Spanish Trials Bikes" & one of John Hulme's volumes of "20yrs of Twinshock Trials" & a couple more with a little info in another magazine on trials, but not much. Of the few pics there, most look like modified TS250 engine & prototype RL chassis, but one looks like its a SherpaT rolling chassis w RL engine & tank (said to be in 74). Hi all, Is there an existing up and running- or is there interest among clubs/national org.s of establishing a TS Europe cup (pref together with Pre-65)?? My mate Tim just acquired a Dalesman and we have started on the restoration/rebuild process. There is no frame number but the log book shows the frame number as the engine number but with a '1)' in front and also that it was registered in March '69 by Terry Silvesters in Holmfirth. The story goes that they sold it to their sponsored rider who may or may not be a Mr Anthony, the second owner. Does anybody have a pic (or two) of the Ossa Pennines modified by Colin Moram of Windsor in about 1970? I think Bill Wilkinson may have ridden one in the SSDT

I'm sure this question has been answered loads of times but what's the current view on which oil to use in the front forks? SAE 30 or Auto Trans Fluid. All suggestions appreciated Paul Mac

I was given a Montesa Cota 200 for my birthday about 6 years ago by my Uncle. The bike was in 'ok' condition but was abit hard for me to ride when i was only ten so it went back into the shed. It was there until summer this year when i decided to try and ride it - bad idea. It went very well for a while, but then the engine suddenly started rattling alot. The bike therefore pobably needs an engine rebuild to find the problem. Gearbox is fine and so is everything else exept wheel and swingarm bearings etc, t just needs tidying up. Hi. i've got a twinshock fraser honda 305cc, its been sat around for ages and i've now got some money to do it up and start riding it. can someone direct me to a website that tells me what i can and can't do to it to and still be able to complete in the normandale series? all i can find is this - CLASS B – Machines with Twinshock rear suspension as fitted at the time of manufacture and fitted with drum brakes, not included in Class A. i only have a bit of money so it wouldn't be anything major but i'd be gutted to arrive at a trail and not be allowed to ride. thanks for any help wayne

Hi, i'm going to start to tart up my Fantic 300 after the Peak classic trial this weekend, i need to paint up the motor on it, but don't want to strip it to bits. There are different views on stripping paint off spraying etc, but can anyone give me a definitive view on this? How do i get the original paint off? what type of primer do i need, if any? also what type of paint will give me a finish same as or similar to the finish already on it? Incidentally, there are 3 fins broken on barrel, they are in place held by the vibration rubber between the fins, whats best way of re fixing? araldite, or will i have to weld back on and file up? I'm running a Dunlop tubeless tire with tube on a TL250. It has new rim locks tightened as tight as possible. Looking at the valve stem, the rear tube is rotating on the rim. I assumed this must be the tire rotating but I marked the tire/ rim before last ride and it is not. The valve stem is noticeably angled with only one very mild ride. See pic with line and stem from one ride. The line is from black marker to black marker and not related to raised line on tire. This is strange. Is there a fix? To recenter valve stem, I have been doing a number of deflation and inflation cycles with a tightened valve stem nut and it does straighten out. I had a TY175 do …

Hi All, We finally got our Ossa TR 350 out on the rough stuff at the excellent Eboracum 2 day Charity trial, My son Scott rode it on the Saturday only and for just two laps but we had a great time and the bike performed quite well and got lots of positive comments from the other riders / owners. One problem pointed out to me was the bike was running 'Rich', at the risk of proving how un mechanical i am can anyone tell me how to adjust this, also I am mixing Oil to Petrol at 75cc to 5lts is this correct. Hi, I've decided to join the twinshock gang and have gone for my teenage favorites. I had several Ossa's as a schoolboy and owned a Gripper back in 1981/2 when it served me well. Trouble is I don't really remember much about the bike and need some help with basic stuff like fuel mix, plugs, gearbox oil etc. Bike is basically ready to ride and hopefully will get its first outing at Oxenlaw on Saturday. I'm looking for an "expert" who can answer my daft questions as and when they arise and offer tips on set up and maintenance. It would also be nice to know how many grippers are being regularly trialed, I haven't seen any in the North East. Thanks, Gary.

Get it while you can... i have finaly managed to put this old VHS tape onto DVD and upload it onto youtube, it only lasts about 5mins . Entitled "Two stroke Cowboys " it is aerial coverage of the Scott from the early/mid seventies i suppose it shouldnt be there , copyright and all that and if anyone objects i will remove it , but it`s a little gem

Hi All, I've now half-stripped the engine to find a rusty bore, worn-out small-end and big-end. My biggest problem, however, is removing the primary drive pinion! I've broken 2 3-leg pullers so far and the damned thing still won't come off! Does anyone have the correct tool for this? Help! And, by the way, its definitely from 1979, it was registered in the UK on October 1979. Many thanks, Andrew
