Hi Ive covered rim size on a previous post, but thought I would ask the remaing (at the moment) questions in one go 1 - Sprocket size Its a 4 speed engine - unsure of any internal gearing changes. What the best combination of sprocket sizes ? Also- chain, 428 ? 2 - Wheel offet Im about to get new rims built onto bantam hubs Rear (using a widened swinging arm and engine offset 8mm) - I think needs no offset ? Front - I think 6mm offset to brake side ? 3 - Chain tensioner Any advice on best type ? may think of more ! cheers John

Afternoon All. So my Cub is all together and a runner. Warmed up and tickover set. Starts lovely on the choke from cold and also when warm. However I’ve got a jetting issue. Here are the symptoms - when I open the throttle gently it runs ok but when I snap the throttle open it muffs badly or stalls. - I think it’s therefore when it comes onto the main jet? - after running it for a bit a shiny new pipe is now a gold colour, so getting hot. Im now about to spend hours researching on the internet, but is someone can point me in the right direction or a good how-to link that would be great

Looking at rotating kickers for C15 or Cubs with the clevis pin type mount, everything I see is massive looking steel mounts. Would a similar massive aluminium (6061) mount be adequate? I suspect there is some reason I do not see them in aluminium. Thanks!!

  7. Hi All, i am in the process of building myself a unit construction BSA either C15G or WD B40 for trials, my question is simply this. how essential is the Wide ratio box. I have a C15G, which has the standard road box in it, unfortunately the B40 GB motor i bought has had the Wide ratio gears robbed and a stub tooth B25, B44 road box in it, i was assured on buying the motor it was a standard B40GB with the wide ratio box, unfortunately the owner got his facts wrong, he has offered to have it back but for what I paid I would sooner keep it. unfortunately a Wide Ratio box is going to cost in the region of £300, which is alot of money to me. I am an average club level…

Do not know if this has been on here before but if so I did not see it, Is it any disadvbantage to run a tubeless type rear tyre with a tube in on a conventional rim as tube type rear tyres are not stocked by many dealers.

Hi All I recently changed the fork oil on my WD B40 and replaced it with 200ml TQF per leg , as before. Now they're topping out, I added 20ml extra per leg but all that did was reduce the movement, and still topped out. The forks are standard issue BSA with external springs. Any thoughts appreaciated. Rode the cub for only the 2nd time today but one of the main problems is the tyre to chain clearance, The s/arm has been lengthend & widened on the right but the left side is standard the clearance is very tight and i have extended the c/gaurd the stop mud being picked up on the chain and that worked but mud is getting between the c/guard and tyre and forceing it over to rub against the chain. I know you can space the engine over 5/6mm to get the chain away from the tyre or is it better to get another s/arm? (miller or Mcdonald) or get mine alterd more? Interested to hear how you guys have got round this problem. This is Midlands mud! dont suppose up north its such a …

Hello, I have a Wasp RT3 with a unit 500 Triumph engine in and would like to put a day light MOT on it. Has anyone used the mountain bike type speedo and horn with any success, if yes, what make are they. I have looked at a few on line but they seem to cheap to be any good !! but I would prefer a wire less one . I will have to fit a small battery for the stop light, so plan to used a led bulb to cut down on power drain (the electronic ignition has no charging provision), I could also connect the horn to it, so it only leaves the speedo to sort out. Regards, NB

Hello , Can anybody suggest the correct length spokes to use to offset the rear tiger cub wheel when used in a C15. I've already been told that a bantam hub would have been better but i would like to keep the Cub Hubs. Many thanks Mark.

  18. Hi need to replace the chain and sprockets on the James. Now it's been running on a 428 chain but i've seen some on a 520. Same with cubs now most people seem to run a 420 on the cub but it seems a bit light duty to me. So what does the panel think about chain sizes? i know sprockets are a personal choice but i was wondering what people are fitting to their Pre65 bikes. twinshock is easy as most of the factory details are pretty good anyway so stick with them but the Pre65 bikes are all so modified nowadays i was just wondering what you have fitted to your Cub, C15, B40, James, Bantam etc etc etc

He stripped the carb to find out what jets were in there ; the carb is a amal 622 needle jet 106 main jet 100 slide cutaway 3 needle has no numbers but has two small rings round the top if that means anything Has anyone any idea`s or experience of this problem?
