Pre-65 Bikes

Hi Guys. I have decided to build an exact replica of Scott Ellis's last works BSA C15 F. I have several photos of the bike with Scott riding it, but only one picture of the bike from a side view, in Don Morley's book. Has any one out there got any side view shots of the bike, or does any one know where the bike BOK228C is. It is still registered at the DVLA as a BSA 250. ( this is the frame that the copy is now reffered to as an Otter). Regards Charlie.

Not having an entry list dosent help, but my money is on Graham Du Feu from Jersey on the Ariel. A big bike is no dis advantage in Scotland, and judging by his results since last year, he has continued to improve. A win in Scotland on a big bike could not come at a better time...

Hello, Fortunately, I noticed my Mountain Cub (1965?) trials conversion bike stopped pumping oil before it got too hot. I assumed it had a bad oil pump. I found a new NOS pump for $50, so I went ahead and bought it and installed it (not a fun job). Unfortunately, my bike still isn't pumping oil. Although I'm not a triumph cub engine expert, I have rebuilt, from the crank up, three motors and they have ran great after my rebuild, so I do know my way around the motor. I was very careful to install the pump correctly and it was spotless when I installed it. Could the "dry" sump not have enough oil in it? If so, how would I add some oil? To note, I haven't pulled…

hi. i have got a villiers engine which i have been running but the cylinder head is scored. is it the spark plug do you think. thanks charlie

Hi All I recently changed the fork oil on my WD B40 and replaced it with 200ml TQF per leg , as before. Now they're topping out, I added 20ml extra per leg but all that did was reduce the movement, and still topped out. The forks are standard issue BSA with external springs. Any thoughts appreaciated. Well having arrived in Kinlochleven at 3am on friday we've just got back! Two great days of trials half decent weather with rain ( drizzle mostly ) and a fair degree of sunshine. Paul Heys seemed absolutely determined to win , his concentration was a step above most others, Tony Calvert is a very cool customer and he always looked in control. the frist day started with the observers on the first two sections standing on the wrong two sections! I'm looking for some advice on what is suitable gearing for a 350cc Matchless G3L (I expect a 350 Ariel would be very similar). I've been using the bike in my local trials, none of which involve a particularly long lap or any road work, and she is currently quite low geared. With aspirations of entering a NBBC round, or a two day event in GB or Ireland, I am looking for some guidance on what is the normal set-up for a pre-unit 350 being used in todays events? The bike is fitted with a GB Burman box, with Mick Ash gears and a standard clutch. The current gearing uses a 16t engine sprocket and 14t gearbox sprocket fitted. Having just rebuilt my engine again...... what is the view on oil and oil filters ? Mineral, semi synthetic, or fully synthetic.Has anyone had experience with oil filters on the return line ? I have looked at the DC motorcycle element type and the trials bits screw on type. any suggestions/recommendations

I've recently got a norton frame with a triumph twin in it. It came with the electronic ignition bits tied to the bars, with no diagrams, so i'm a bit stuck with wiring. From the stator there are two wires, Blue and Black. The coil (with the two HT leads coming out, has two connectors. There is another smaller box, this has a Red, Brown (which i assume is to earth as it had a ring crimp on the end), and a lead coming out with Blue and Brown wires, these have crimps on the end, that are easily accepted by the coil's two spade connectors. I have seen recommendations and replacement swing arms 1" longer than stock for Cubs and C15s. The only description is that they work better. Could someone elaborate on exactly what this improves and how this may help on specific obstacles? Does it help the back wheel get over sharp objects like a vertical 12 or 18" step? Is it a significant difference or a subtle change? Thanks, dan

Front wheel chrome is rough on my C15 trials and I have been looking for alternatives, forks are B44 clamp type at bottom of fork leg did any japanese/ european manufacturers ever use a 40 spoke alloy rim in 21" that I could change to I can find a lot of alternatives in 36 hole, and have toyed with the idea of lacing the 40 hole drum to a 36 hole rim, but sourcing the odd length spokes may be a problem any pointers appreciated

Can anyone reccommend alloy tank supplier for these bikes. Or doea anyone have any secondhand ones for sale. ?. At a reasonable price of course Any alternative tanks that may fit perhaps ?.

Where can I get the best deal, and which are the best currently available at a sensible price in the UK. (Tube type)
