Hi guys Just bit more interested in Royal Enfield trials these days. I would like know more about Royal Enfield Bullet HNP 331 ridden by Johnny Brittain in 1957 in SSDT. Interested to know what engine/frame etc modification were done to this bike. any more picture will be nice Found very rare interesting video able to locate Royal Enfield Trials HNP 332 ?. at 33:57 on the trailer. Good to know how was trials riding in 1950s .. bit diffcult & driving in very high waters etc ,admire the history of british trials. Regards

hi all Think my thread title says it all - just need a bit of positive input from those in the know. VERY original proper trials version of the royal enfield crusader. I had every intention of lovingly restoring it to acceptable competetive riding condition - not to show or molly coddle. However I have been tempted by another project which is more suitable for myself. This crusader is complete and bought as a runner, though I have not even put petrol in and tried it as yet. It has new dunlops and chain and was last ridden in anger 2 years ago. Was considering putting it on fleabay but would really appreciate some rough idea of what price to expect or buy it now p…

my project currently has some 36mm jap forks in that are not really suitable for trials, I am planning to change to bultaco 35mm leading axle forks as I have access to some, my question is what type of yokes? cubs are non parallel with 1.5 degrees in the yokes as standard, but given that I am changing to leading axle forks should I be looking of parallel yokes to compensate for this change or would non parallel ones work without causing issues to trail/rake?

Just been looking at the piccys of the Don Smith Memorial trial 2009 and on there is a BSA Bantam. Now thats what i want mine to look like when i get around to building it. Bootiful. Hello all Why do we have this so called pre 65 rule book which i hear quoted at every trial when clearly most of the bikes do not fit within the so called rules! Mcdonald cubs that do look the bizness and brand new dots that are 2010 made..how are they pre-65? frames are nothing like the originals front loops. there not meant to be altered are they. but all the trails i have been to recently the organisers havnt battered an eyelid. it seems ok to run these trick extra light engineering genious machines..but its not pre 65. How do the dots get into the scotish? there not pre 65/67. Am i loosing the plot bringing this up does anyone else seem to be bothered this all happe…

Hi All I was thinking of making a Tiger Cub Top Tube Oil Tank for my trials Cub I did contact Sammy Miller for a price to ship to New Zealand, but didn't get a reply so has anyone made one themselves or if some one could post a simple diagram of the layout of an oil tank which I could adapt to suit my Cub Cheers Mike

hey after looking to bild an ariel i've changed my mind, it wil be a B40 what frame options are there? (prefer oil in frame) i would like to bild something like Martin Wilmore's bsa (not the super special one that looks like a sherco) advise on the engine is very welcome to i would like it to be powerful, smooth and high reving (like my sherco) and the clutch must be good does anyone have email adress of M. I know Serco is the place for Cub engine work but who's the guru on frame/fork mods. And who supplies parts and info for trials Triumph unit twins and BSA C15s/B40s?.

I am considering one of these for my Triumph Cub, http://www.armac-design.com/Armac_Design/Clutch_Lightener.html Has anyone tried one, what was it like to fit, has it brought about an improvement to the clutch operation.

Just a thought, how does Sam's original Ariel compare to modern versions? Have the machines moved on so much that even GOV132 would now struggle.

So I purchased a set of mz forks for my bsa c15 trials bike I'm building problem is my 35mm yokes are just that 35mm an the mz forks are 34.7 the options at the minute are shim out the gap using 6 tho shim wrapped round the stancions or bore out the yokes and turn a split bush. Re chroming is not an option as I don't even know if the forks are any good so don't want to waste 150 quid re hard chroming them.. any input welcome

Can anyone help with an issue relating to B40 / B44 engine specifications? I have bought a B40 to convert for Trials. The B40 Engine has a B44 round Aluminium barrel with std bore. Found so far;- B44 Al. round Barrel marked 41-42 with a gasket face to face of 82.4mm B44 piston 41-571 (std bore) B44 con. rod marked 41-550 Problem When turning the Engine without the Head the piston at TDC is above the Barrel by approx. 3mm Same problem with a std B40 piston 41-075. I believe the Barrel has been reduced in length but suspect machined too far. really would like to use this Aluminium Barrel, The B44 con rod results in a stroke of 90mm (not 70mm as B40). Does anyone know if there is a splined kickstart shaft available for the early distributor type C15 (Star?) engine? It's a 1963 engine. Really fed up having to drift out cotterpins every time I have to remove the kickstart. No matter which type I use they bend and really take some hammering to remove. The knuckle on my forefinger really hurting and being twice it's normal size thanks to the hammer was the last straw this tonight... Or I may have to investigate the possiblility of grafting a splined shaft from something else onto the C15 gear - or rather I will have to talk nicely and grovel to someone else... That sort of stuff is beyond my capabilities

Hello Everyone, I've just taken on a 1959 Triumph 3TA barn find, and I hope to turn it into a trials machine. My sort of riding is just having a bit of fun on the white route, so I'm not after much competitiveness, but I am interested in keeping it period, and I'm hoping to do as little (if any) permanent modifications as possible. Here's some pictures of the bike in question: Triumph 3TA My first question is the hubs, before I get the bits to lace the planned 21" WM1 and a 18" WM2, what hubs would be appropriate? Can anyone suggest a reason why it would be a bad idea to chop the down tube on a cub frame and replace with a thick sumpgaurd (as in how the upb and armac design frames are configured). Obviously id have to keep the frame straight while attempting this operation. I would hopefully have a 5mm pre formed alloy bash plate made and replace bottom of downtube with this,can anyone suggest any downfallls pitfalls to this operation.
