Pre-65 Bikes

Long story short: I decided to paint my Armac Cub tank (Holtworks?). The colour was chosen to commemorate a friend of mine who passed away this year and had his Cub the same blue. I got a couple of quotes (at around 200 pounds) then decided to have a go myself! I got most of the materials from a local automotive paint supplier and the pinstripe and tank stickers from Ebay. I used rattle cans for an etch primer and also bought the rattle can equivalent of 2K colour and lacquer. (I don't know how you can get a 2 part paint into a rattle can either!) I have always liked the 'Gulf'' colours on Triumph Bonneville's so thought I'd do mine in a similar style. …

Which is the best type of crankcase breather for a Trials Cub, some people leave the original with the small hole inside the r/h engine case. Another method blocks this off and then a pipe is fitted from the screw in bung on top of the crankcases, I am told that one can also be fitted on to the head but I have yet to see this type. So which method works the best.

Hello all I'm after some advice please. I have a bsa b40 with a wd engine. She's been sitting for a while and the carb has all disintegrated. Could anyone tell me what AMAL carb it has fitted please so I can try and source another. From what I can see it's a 626 L but all the one's on the net seem to be L and three numbers. Many thanks

Dad has said I can give this a try if I promise to not get it dirty or crash in a big heap. That was 4 years ago and I still can't make that promise. But he's gonna let me ride it anyway. Boxing Day trial perhaps. Just need the right venue. Midlands area

Are leading axle forks allowed in scotland? The front page of T&MX (sorry MX News) from 9th May shows a pair being used.

Just fitted an Amal stay up float kit to the concentric carb on my bike but now it floods as soon as the fuel is switched on, have tried to lower the float level as well as checking the viton tipped float needles operation but without effecting a cure. Any ideas please.

Anyone got a pic of an HT ( their bike ?) with an Avery Products- Terry Weedy tank? They're quite a bit cheaper than the Holtworks ones so just wanted to get an idea. Thanks

Hello all I now own a sprite trials bike and looking for more info on the bike. I think it is one of the earlier models but im unsure. The bike seems to be in very original condition even with the original fuel tank i think. Any info would be great.

I have a 3 speed D7 bantam , is it possable to put a 4 speed cluster into it or is not worth it.

Not having an entry list dosent help, but my money is on Graham Du Feu from Jersey on the Ariel. A big bike is no dis advantage in Scotland, and judging by his results since last year, he has continued to improve. A win in Scotland on a big bike could not come at a better time...

I'm looking for some advice on what is suitable gearing for a 350cc Matchless G3L (I expect a 350 Ariel would be very similar). I've been using the bike in my local trials, none of which involve a particularly long lap or any road work, and she is currently quite low geared. This was left to my wife after her Grandfather passed away. We believe he acquired the necessary parts and built it himself. It ran well and was all there but it was "used". It was his favourite bike. So I decided to show it some love. The frame and swing arm have been powder coated, forks have all new internals and have been polished. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club held a social event on Saturday 9th July to celebrate the centenary year of the Colmore Cup trial. I estimate that around 170 trials enthusiasts including five previous winners of the trial took part in the event which visited many of the locations once used in the Colmore. Riding or driving any type of machine, the entrants were taken on 60+ mile loop of the Cotswold Hills and with an 'on road' route and a 'off road' route, there was something for everyone. hi all. firstly it doesnt look like my tablet likes the website and wont let me post a carriage return so apologies for the stream of conciousness style. putting a bsa c15 together and im using a bushman rear hub - i believe this is fairly common. 2 questions, anyone know where i can get a rear sprocket made up as it needs to be bantam mounting but c15 thickness? And anyone know the tricks of the trade to fasten it to the hub - as the bantam uses a crazy 7/32" bscy bolt which only appear to be available in the bantam length - as the sprocket will be thicker do i need to get the sprocket countersunk? Hope some one can help. jim

Can anyone tell me where I can get a 15 tooth engine sprocket for my B25T engine. I believe it would have the same spline size as for a B40 or 441 BSA. I believe most people use an 18 tooth sprocket (which I currently have) but I know that with a half link in the duplex chain a 15 tooth sprocket will fit without the chain being too loose. Although not as strong as a full link, does anyone know of any problem using half links? I have already reduced the gearbox sprocket as small as I can and even with a 60 tooth rear wheel sprocket the gearing is barely low enough, so since I can't lower the gearing within the gearbox I prefer to get a smaller engine rather than put a larg…

I know very little about these bikes which I believe were ridden by Dave Rowlands and Mick Bowers, do any of them remain, were they very special. If BSA had perseverd with them might they have had a Bultaco beater?

Hey I'm building a B40 and i'm looking for a victor style fueltank that covers the head of the engine i have tried the Sammy M. tank but that sits ontop of my engine and that is not verry nice any idea where i could buy that sort of tank? regards bob
