Just back from an excellent weekend in Isola. Cracking scenary, sections and a fantastic drive to get there. As a trials rider over the past years (too many to state !) I've witnessed a few rider/observer disagreements but there was one strange situation on Sunday. On the second lap @ section 14, a certain italian riding sherco arrived and walking through the section and pointed out to the observer that a large rock had moved since the first lap and asked if he could move it back to its previous position. The observer looked at the rock and was kind enough to lift it (2 handed lift so quite a big one !) and re-position a couple of feet further back into the hole he want…

Took some video of Dougie on Section 7 (TC Section) with the digital camera. the quality is not great but you'll get a feel for the steepness of the hill. Check out the noise of the Monts too!! Clips here!

I was stood right at it. Down a steep bank into a river. Didn't lift the front wheel quite soon enough. The plan was to get a nice "water splash" photo. This wasn't the kind of splash I had in mind!

After losing the 2007 WTC on the cruelest of rules (last goals the winner) it was good to see Laia Sanz back at the top of women's trials, not that she ever wasn't. At the moment she is way ahead of the opposition, however Becky Cook is becoming a serious challenger to Iris Kramer.

World 125 junior champion Kieran touly has given up on trials the year after his championship win due to no funding or manufacture support from scorpa/Sherco .Bad news for the sport imo ,is this what modern day world trials has become ?an elite sport where serious backing or a large wallet is more important than talent ?

After a wander around Hook Woods on Sunday and watching the top lads demonstrate how it should be done. You watch them ride and see them do the impossible without a safety net, I noticed that the minders have totally different styles and no doubt abilities. So what does make a good minder? Is it: a) technical knowledge; guide and advise the rider and get him exactly where he needs to be etc etc. inspiration; maybe technical knowledge isn't so important, but lifting the pilot to greater things. c) safe pair of hands; allowing said rider to attempt the impossible and know that he's not going to clatter down in a heap. d) Dad; nuff said e) Been there, seen that, got…

I'm sure the organisers would like feedback from spectators as well as riders so here goes. I'm local to this venue and ride here quite a bit. When it was first announced I thought great but where will they ride. I have to say that I thought the whole weekend was fantastic. The sections turned out to be very spectator friendly and you could comfortably see four or five sections a lap.So I would like to say thanks to the organisers for trying a new venue central to the UK and lets do it again sometime.Anyone got any real negatives from the weekend?

For those who are planning to visit the US for the Arizona world round or anywhere else for that matter I thought I would toss together a post about what a traveler should expect. Most of my interactions and travels have been between US and Europe but this should apply globally. I don't know all or any of the visa laws from your country so that part you will need to research independently. First impressions when getting to the US: When I travel to Europe i am surprised usually that I am hardly ever asked a question at a pass port inspection. Here in the US even as a US citizen traveling from Canada, Mexico, Europe ect... I am asked at least 20 questions about w…

Seen on a french and italian site that it's happened. No news on scorpa site..... why??? If you had just signed your number 1 rider to ride your brand new bike I would have thought it merited at least a small announcement. Maybe I should go into PR!

Okay, not sure I totally understand this myself (nor does anyone else by the looks of things!) and have a very confusing document in front of me that makes little sense, but as I understand it The riders have been drawn into pairs - one seeded rider against one non-seeded rider The pairs will ride against each other over a number of sections The best rider will qualify for the semi-final along with the best non-qualifier (six riders in total) The ride against each other thing in pairs will then be repeated. After that I don't know what happens, but I suspect everyone's head will explode trying to understand things. Also, interestingly, riders will now be penalised o…
