Section fails at Barcellona WTiC. Busto, Dabill, Karlsson, Ferrer, all failed every section, Fajardo only got through one section and Cabastany two sections. In the final Cabastany and Fajardo failed all but one sections each. I don't want to belittle Bou's (and Raga's) skill and effort, but thats not entertainment or a good championship, when most the riders can't complete a section.

Congrats to Toni Bou for tying Doug's streak of 7 consecutive World Titles. Congrats to Adam Raga for pushing him right to the end. The Montesa boys all agree it has been a very tough year. It was closer than most realize. After Saturday's result Raga 1st Bou 3rd the lead had been cut in half (5pts). On Sunday by lap 2 section 3: Bou 5th Cabes 4th Raga & Fajardo tied for 2nd and Dabil winning! At this point Raga had the WTC in his grasp. Only a stong finish by Bou and a few errors by Raga on the last lap changed the outcome.

Can't help noticing that the FIM has introduced a new E bike class in there WTC. Normally the introduction of a new class even at club level grinds my gears and take it from a man with massive respect for delicate trials transmissions it's the proverbial red flag. However I feel I must embrace it as the championships are now so fragmented I could be in with as shout if I can just hang on in there. I really see an over 55 clapped out Scorpa living within the East Neuk "World championship" could have my name written all over the Trophy.

Well unfortunately we are still on the stop / no stop debate and as others have said there is more to fixing the current decline in participants in the sport generally than the rules to be run at a world championship event. SO can we first of all limit this topic to ideas to increase sales of bikes or participation excluding changing the rules to your preference in terms of stop / no stop. There are plenty of other threads running for that debate. Just had a thought today about quality of the bikes we buy. The current bikes are very very good at what they do but the quality issues continue, although this does vary manufacturer to manufacturer year to year. Trials bikes…

Very interesting comment on the FIM No-stop announcement article over on Trials Australia from the mother of Kyle Middleton, a WTC rider. We're not in the habit of nicking content from other websites so you'll have to head over to Trials Australia to read it, but it's well worth the time. clicky here

With the reported retirement of Pepe Manzano from the World series due to being unable to find enough backing for next year, plus riders such as Ben Hemingway also stopping. I wonder does this mean that the World Championship will be contested by a select few in the coming years, just like the Indoor series?

  11. OK so I was watching the FIM trials videos from MavTV and my wife was playing on her iPad and watching somewhat when she says, "Why does Toni Bou always make the really big steps and nobody else does?" I, of course, went into a long winded explanation about his conditioning and the technical expertise of Honda along with very deep pockets, blah blah blah... She wasn't buying it. She made me replay some of the big hits over and over in slow motion and full speed and said she didn't know what but something was different about the way Bou hit things. Well she is an engineer and there are things she sees that I miss so I started thinking about it. As we watched the replays on…

Wow! What happened to Raga on Saturday night? He looked totally disinterested and beaten by the whole thing. Was anyone there to see it? or anyone know him/team personnel?? Would be really interesting to understand whats happening in his head. Must be that Toni Bou being unbeatable has mashed his head again. I know this happened a few years ago but thought he'd worked past this physcological barrier. Cabestany seems to be OK and goes with the openly spoken of approcah of 'will ride for 2nd place and if Bous slips up, I'll try to capitalise and push for a win' Raga on the other hand seems battered and beaten as soon as he loses a point and Bou stays on zero It must…

This may seem like a strange question, but as someone with some breathing related health concerns, can anyone tell me the "air quality" in the indoor arenas, particularly the one in Madrid? I am thinking of going, but need to know about the extent of exhaust fumes. Will someone who has attended or participated in Madrid indoor championship please characterize it for me? Thanks!

According to the ACU Sport Moto magazine, on page 19 Albert Cabestany is riding a HRD. Sorry if I'm missing the blindingly obvious, but what is a HRD? Also: Antoni Bou on Sherco. Graham Jarvis on Scorpa. Sam Connor on Scorpa. Is this correct, have the ACU got a scoop?
