General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. Started by nedrapier,

Afternoon, Hope to get some replies to this, as my trials career rests on the answers! I don't have anywhere sensible to keep a bike. Access to flat is up a tight staircase with 180 degree turn. I struggle to get a push bike up there, carried vertically, without putting tyre scuffs on the walls. Friends with better options are all too far in the wrong directions. So I sack off trials until I move house, who knows when... Or: What are the easiest and quickest ways of making a trials bike less nickable from the front of a house? Front wheel off? HT leads? Handlebars? Just thinking of what you could unbolt in a few minutes that would render a bike a collectio…

Good Morning, So I’ve been looking around for an Evo 200, purely because having firmly caught the trials bug I want to upgrade my ‘08 Rev3 250 for something more modern that I can stick with for a year or two and evolve on and everyone seems to think that the Evo 200 is the ‘Holy Grail’ of trials bikes for the novice to progress on. However I have to wonder, if it’s such a brilliant creation, why are none of the other manufacturers making a competing model? The only other 200 2T bike I can see is the Vertigo, which is frankly too expensive at my stage of the game. I’d consider buying new, but to be honest whilst I’m still likely to drop and scratch/otherwise dam…

With such fantastic coverage last year culminating in those brilliant pictures and videos from Sheffield, I think it's time we rallied round to boost TC coffers in readiness for 2007. I for one feel that

I had at one time seen a web site that explained in great detail how to drill holes in the brake discs for a 2000 Sherco. After much google searching I am unable to find it. I think it may have been an Australian site. If anyone knows the site I am looking for any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi folks.... Just changed the front and back tyre on my bike...... Front (tubed) is fine, but rear is leaking air through the spokes. I don't fancy fitting a new rim band as I understand their a pig to fit.... And too be honest, I don't fancy removing the tyre again to bead silicone/sikaflex or the like as I've just (foolishly) fitted some nice rim tapes...... I went to halfords earlier today to see if any of this "slime" or goop stuff would do the job...... But on reading the label I understood it that the goo would be flung out to the tyre tread itself centrifugally, but I don't think any would manage to run itself around the actual wheel rim ? Has anyone used th…

Hi ive been doing trials for 2 year now and started in beginners for first year until I consistently finished most trials in the top Half dozen then moved to clubman and again made steady progress But I've now swapped bikes from an 09 300 raga to 05 4rt and it's all gone pear shaped First ride on the 4rt I had my worst result ever And on attempting things I could do on the gas gas I found nearly impossible on the 4rt , mainly slippy rooty hill climbs I've searched most posts and asked about adapting to a 4rt but a lot of info seems conflicting Low gear wieght back no clutch to high gear slip clutch and blast it I'm finding I'm Worrying and thinking more about h…

You will get no arguement from me that Tony Bou is the best. I also believe he remains the best on any factory team. Bearing that in mind how does he finish under the following......... 2015 Sheffield The usual suspects, Bou, Raga, Cabby, and Farardo. All riding for their present factory except for one minor change. Each rider gets a bike fresh out of the box just like us Mortals ride. The only set up is done by the rider personally. Handlebar, brake, and clutch are the only things allowed to be adjusted. So, is Tony still finishing first on a box stock Repsol Honda? Do Cabby or Fajardo have an advantage on a box stock Factory 300 or maybe Raga on a stock Raga would …

has anyone every tried a moto-x tyre on a trials bike? as the nobbles on a trials tyre are so close together, when its muddy, they are just like a slick, where as moto-x tyres have bigger nobbles, and they are futher apart, so they tend not to get caked with mud as much......... they are also

Ok so there are 2019 model trials bikes already available from some sources along with the 2018 ranges and very nice they all look to! But which one would you buy and why given that you had say £6000 burning a hole in your wallet? Answers please to include known issues good and bad together with maintenance ease or difficulty. I like the thought of lashing out on a four stroke, but then think that there’s more to wear out when compared to a two stroke. That other niggling worry also comes to mind and that is will the manufacturer chosen still be around in the near future? Lastly the old chestnut, how good is the dealer network and support? I’ve not put down my choice…
