Trials Transport

Hi all I am interested in to getting into trials got places to ride etc my problem is transport I have a Audi A6 Allroad so pretty decent sized boot with seats collapsed and i wondered if it is possible to fit a bike in there, obvisoly wheels and possibly forks would be removed. Just wondering what people experiences are? Thanks James

Hi all i am new to the world of trials and i have just bought gas gas txt pro 03 125. i was wondering about theft insurance. is it covered by your home insurance? or is there somewhere i can get it from? Any help would be much appreciated ! Cheers!

Hi, new to trials and my van is a astra van so the bike has to go on its side. My question is will the fuel / water run out? Is there anything I should be doing b4 I place it on its side? Thanks phil

I'm 17 in January and I'm going to start driving lessons, when I have passed both my theory and practical is it legal for me to have a bike rack on the back of my car to transport my gas gas or do I have to be a certain age? Strange question I know, thank you in advance for any help.

Excitement! Just bought my first ever trials bike and have hired a Berlingo to go and pick it up. I've got an assortment of straps and ropes that I've accumulated over the years, along with dust sheets and old towels. Are there plenty of anchor points to which I can secure it? Is there any trick of experience that someone can pass on, or is it all pretty obvious? Many thanks

Is it safe to put a bike rack on a 306 concidering buying one just need to check it wont affect anything.

Hi, I have fitted my bike rack today, for the first time, just as a trial run because i am going out on my bike for the first time at the weekend and wanted to make sure everything was ok and it fits great, the bike sits nice and it doesn't hit the back of the car or anything like that, the only thing that concerns me is, after i fit the first bar to where the tow ball is and then slot the two other pieces in to it, should their be something that stops the two pieces from jumping out, like a pin or something or do i just use ratchet straps to pull it all together. this is a photo of the type of rack i have got.

Hi all, New to the forum, presently ordered a 24R and will be collecting in mid Nov in the UK. My main query is transporting the bike. I drive a X-Trail that has a flange towbar, I wanted to get a Dave Cooper rack but they do not deliver to Ireland, hard to get anything like this over here. So do any of you boys/girls use something like a normal bicycle rack for your OSET's? Within the guidance of weight capacity etc. Thanks if anyone has any info, insights. Chop

Hi I have a Witter detachable swan neck towbar on my car. I wanted to fit a bike rack but they all only seem to fit on fixed towbars. Chaps, Just about to fit a towbar so I can get the bike on a bike rack...the lad fitting it has said that including bike and rack, weight shouldnt be any more than 75KG... Bike weighs about 65-70Kg and the rack I have is one that somebody made themselves, nice rack but on the heavy side... In total reckon gonna be well over the 75KG... Is this something I need to be concerned about or not??? Thanks for any input.

Hi All I already have a bike rack but will soon need to move two bikes about. For storage reasons, and flexibility can I use the rack and tow a single bike trailer at the same time? Big 4x4 so weight etc not a problem, more of a practical / legal question I guess. thanks in advance.

on the way to a trial my dave cooper rack broke,the square tube next to the weld has fractured,and has dumped the bike on the road. you can guess at the result !!! has any one else had this happen? is there a better quality rack on the market ? CHECK YOUR RACK NOW !!!!!!!

Haha, i dont need to get there really fast its just the car i have ! its my first real car (after a mini) and i want to use a rack for space purposes and im pretty sure that my licence (had it 5 years) doesnt cover pulling a trailer, although that never stopped me fitting a towbar to the mini and pulling the heavy-ist homemade two bike trailer ! so id like to be abit more legal, I had a look on that kerbweight website and it says my ball weight is 52kg and obviously a bike and rack is pushing 75, So my plan is to get a third party rack (from a scrappers

HI guys! I am happy to share my own expirence of designing the rack in order to move a trial bike out a city on a small car like BMW 116i. I bought the standard tow bar (250$) and have mounted it (30$), bought some raw steel such as angle 30mm*3mm, plate 3mm, square tube 30*60*3mm, square tube 30*30*3mm and something else i needed i found in my garage (plus 100$). Then i've welded this construction previously calculating and evaluating its safety and reliability. Finally, i mount this item on the tow bar. I got myself a towbar and adult bike rack from Autowbars (My link) in Bradford and can definately recommend the guys there. I got the car booked in and dropped it off with them on the day. I then went straight over the road to the lovely cafe and had some breakfast and several cups of coffee to pass the time. Then 2 hours later the towbar was on, the bike rack fitted, and the number board, number plate, and strappings, all ready. The question might have been asked before, I got to sell my pick up, but I have a 1.7 corsa diesel, r reg, just wondering if this will be capable of carry a dave cooper bike rack with my sherco 290 on????

New car on the way, Golf Mk V, has anyone used a rack? Just wondering if the towbar comes up high enough to bring the rack away from the bumper (as the bumper is quite big) so that the bike sits away from the back of the car. Also, I use a bit of flat rope out of the boot of my Vectra that I tye around the forks to pull the bike in close to the car, is there scope to do this on a Golf?
