Trials Transport

Hi I am looking to buy a van, I have seen the Fiat Doblo's driving around and they look like they would be a good size, as they appear to be slightly larger than the same age Vauxhall combo (2003ish). Has anybody got any experience with this van, Ideally I will be wanting to fit in 2 bikes on the odd occasion! Otherwise I think I am going to be going down the route of an older style combo van. I have seen in the past, single bike trailers that fold on the front part near the hitch to make them easy to stand up in a garage to store. Does anyone know who manufactures these and has anyone got one?

Does any one know how many, if any, bikes you can get in a new ford connect.

I've seen a thread on here about Connect vs. Caddy, but it wasn't clear if people were talking about the new shape (2013 onwards) Connect or the older shape, Will the new shape long wheelbase (L2) Connect fit 2 bikes and occasionally 3? Thanks

I’m looking to buy a van to transport 2, possibly 3 Trials bikes. I’ve narrowed it down to Ford Connect (new shape) L2 or a Citroen Dispatch (new shape). I’d prefer to buy the Ford, but checking the dimensions of the van it seems close for two bikes, so very close for 3 bikes. The Dispatch has more space but lower mpg. Does anybody have a connect L2 with 3 bikes or dispatch?

With a bed extender or just tail gate down it is possible to get two bikes in the maverick. took one to the rents house and got 35mpg to central NY from Michigan and back. Fwd hybrid lariat. Im biased of course and in love! 😍 --Biff

Hello all, my appologies for dwelling on the quite boring subject of bike transport but on my last post i was looking at a Citroen Berlingo van. Well this purchase didnt happen for reasons too boring to mention. Anyway i am looking for a smallish van, something that isnt too huge to use for everyday transport as i dont require a van for any other reason. The thing is i dont want somthing so small that it is the equivalent of that Laurel and Hardy sketch where Olly tries to fit his eloped wife into an Austin 7 (i think). I am super psyched about the Transit Connect comming to the States. As long as we don't ba$tardize it like the Focus it should be a good thing. Ford Transit I have always liked the Sprinter unfortunately I don't work for that company. I do work for this one but have not had an opprotunity (yet) to put it through the paces. I don't think that we will get the diesel but I have a couple of questions for you EU boys/girls It looks like it will take two bikes. Am I correct? I just finished this tonnaeu cover/Ramp for my F150 short box. All Aluminum (Aluminium for folks back home) checker plate tonnaeu cover & light bar. The ramp is double slide as the bed rails are about 4'6" & the bed length is only 5'6", so a double slide ramp out of grip strut is welded to the under side of the tonnaeu cover. Fully lockable (as the OEM tailgate is lockable). I have more pics but have to get them uploaded tonight & will post more pics if anyones interested. Coming back to trials and always previously used an Erde trailer but I don't have the room any more so considering a Dave Cooper rack... Will this fit the land rover OK? Grateful for any help..

I'm shopping for a first trials bike and a new (used) car at the same time. I'm looking at different minimal setups for hauling, either enclosed or on some sort of class 2 (1 1/4", 350lb tongue weight) hitch carrier. Most carriers are for Class III hitches and fuel economy really suffers with that capacity vehicle. Trying to avoid a trailer too but need to read more on that. The Honda Element is one of the best candidates i have come across so far. A trials bike should fit fine with some fork compression, or maybe deflating the tire, spinning the bars down in the clamps. Needs less than 3 inches to get through the door edge (41 inches). Probably have to pull…

Does anyone know the rough tank range of a 250 (ish) pure trials bike? I know its a bit of a piece of string question but could you get twenty miles out of it? or is it a 5 miles of pootling round type thing? Thanks

For a year I use the german "quick out" system, which will be build in/out in half a hour: https://www.quickout.de/caravan-expansion-for-van/ It is ideal for the safe transport of motorcycles and for a comfortable overnight stay at the training ground. I use it firmly mounted in a L2H2 Opel (Vauxhall) Movano B = Nissan NV 400 = Renault Master III.
