I'm sure this post has been done to death, but I'm getting more confused the more I read about things. I'm wanting to start trial riding for a bit of fun,nothing too competitive as yet. The last time I rode a bike was about 25 years ago and it was Yamaha TY175, the bike it's self will have been at least 10 years old at the time and you needed a crane to lift the front end up (you get the picture). I want something suitable and reliable but also something manageable, that won't fling me off at every opportunity. From what I've read the beta rev 3 seems to come recommended, but I don't really know. My inital thoughts were to go for something older but in good condition…

Not done this one before. The entry acceptance email mentions leaving a fuel can at a garage a few miles away from the start. Is this the only fuel stop required for the AJ? Is this still required if we have a support vehicle, or is there nowhere for the vans to get near us? Or is it just a question of designated fuel stops because of the environment issues? Cheers.

Hi All, New bloke here! I'm <almost certainly> going to return to the fold after a break of 10 years or so. I can no longer fight it... I plan to practice little and ride a trial every 3 weekends or so, depending on what's on in the 50 mile radius of my home near Cambridge. Back in the day that was Cambridge Matchless events, Nene Valley and Peterborough at Stibbington (probably my favourite trial for it's compactness and friendliness). I'm not about to go mad and cheat by practicing much (ahem), but I would like to get myslef (and a mate who is new to the sport) up to speed before clogging up the sections with my fat self heaving a bike out of the hedges. Went there to see what it was like, I actually went to ride my crosser, but the idea was to case it out for trials too. There were actually quite a few trials bikes there, there is a fair woodland area and some shared jumps (hills for a trials bike). My impression is that it is NOT the best place for trials practice .. OR MX for that matter, but it is open every day and offers a LEGAL playground for offroad stuff and

I've just been up to Addingham today and the farmer has told me that he is due to be summonsed to court for continuing to allow trials riders to practice. He told me last week he was trying to do a deal to allow practicing at weekends and on Wednesdays but it seems that this has come to naught. It seems there is a serious risk that Addingham will only be allowed to used 14 days per year (presumably for events) and that we won't be allowed to practice. I know that in the past threats to Addingham as a practice area have come and gone but it seems that this time it may actually occur. The problem is that I can't get any hard info off the farmer as to who is trying to obtain…

Trying to find details of Trials clubs (where and when they meet etc) in South East Wales, I had a trials bike when i was younger and use to be a member of Islwyn MCC but not sure this is still running. I'm now thinking of getting another trials bike but would like to know if there are any clubs local to me first.

I was just thinking that of late in our neck of the woods, the common theme of discussion in the paddocks is Enduro. Some riders have already switched and some are considering it. The events are well managed and subscribed to . They do appear to be more costly to enter but it doesn't put people off. So , the question is, is anyone else noticing an exodus from trials to enduro?

I have just read in TMX that the BFD club are running the anual Boxing Day trial under the WTC rules!!!!!!! What is the point in this, have'nt we got too many different sets of rules already with two. Why introduce another? I am sure the majority of riders would rather have a normal ride round on a Boxing Day full of Turkey & Booze than attempt to wreck themselves & there bikes. It seems to me that this event catering for the minority, and not the majority! The sport is never going to entice more poeple from the Clubmans course onto the hard course with this type of event! Are the club planning on running more events like this? Or is this just a one off? If …

Sitting watching the sports personality of the year annual show and not one mention of the achievements of our ladies in trials on the world stage . Emma Bristow Ladies world champion and our ladies winning the Trials des Nations again .. ACU pull your finger out and raise the profile of our sport , as the governing body it falls as part of your mandate to promote and raise awareness of the sport of Trials and what better platform than this programme, let's see if the ACU can do better next year !!!!

has anyone seen this yet Off-Road Vehicles (Registration) Bill . looks like we will all be fitting number plates in the future. though it may be easier to find out if a bikes been nicked.
