Watched the 1st day at Lagnaha and saw Dabill get away with a "stop" at the end of the 2nd sub. Its amazing how such a knowledgable crowd applauds what was (IMHO) a clear 5. He must have been stationary parallell to the ends cards for 3-4 seconds before he decided what he was going to do. Are the observers briefed at all about the scoring regieme???

Got home late last night, great few days weather was great apart from Sunday. HOWEVER...... The Pre-65 was rather spoiled for me again by the muppets who think it's okay to take their bikes off road because they can't be a***d walking. Friday Meall Na-Cruidhe not many but one or two bikes out on the moors thrashing around all over the place, I know there were a few press bikes but these folk need to be more obvious, yellow press bib?? As for the one I chased, wish I'd got the plate number, 315 mont if anyone's willing to own up......... Saturday was a different story, you could barely move at the top of Mamore for bikes and som eof the Rambles were not chuffed either.…

It's becoming a bit of a tradition that some of the TC regulars get together one night in Ft. Will for a curry and a few . There's a good curry house on the High Street. Tuesday night is proposed for this year. If anybody fancies it, drop me a PM so I have an idea of numbers to book.

Just wondered how many people on here fitted a speedo to their bike for the SSDT. I am debating whether to bothor or not. This will be my second year riding Scotland and last year I had a speedo and horn. However the scruitineer's never even checked them etc. I know its the law to have a horn and speedo but I cant really rememer seeing many bikes with the correct items. I did a whole day with no rear mudguard and no number plate and the old bill didnt seem to worry as I parked my bike up next to them. I ride a Beta and fitted the standard speedo last year which I think lasted about an hour before it broke. This is probably my fault due to me crashing and falling …

Just published an article on my "blog" called "The First Week of May" with all the fun and preparation for the SSDT back in the 70's. Includes an interesting quote from a young (then) Martin Lampkin on how to ride the event. To all attending, good luck, I wish I were there...... maybe next year? Tony

  14. Dear All, Help! Has anyone been able to take out competition insurance recently? After Carol Nash discontinued their comp -inclusive cover last year, I had a frantic 2 hours ringing round every insurer I could find on the internet until eventually Bennets said they would cover competition usage along with TPF&T - I confirmed at leat 3 times on the phone converstation I had, that the policy covers road use in between sections whilst on the road. Then, when I come to check the policy 1 month before riding SSDT I discover that competition usage is specifically excluded. So - I have been explicitly mis-sold the policy which is annoying (they are currently "going throug…

Well, this time next week literally thousands of us will have arrived in Fort William for the start of one of the greatest weeks in the trials calendar. It's incredible to think that it's come round again so quickly! Most of us will spend the best part of this week organising everything that needs to be taken with us, so for those of you riding the trial, read on for some reminders on the things you're not allowed to forget. For those of you just coming along for the show, here's some more about the events taking place throughout the week... Parc Ferme... As usual, the Parc Ferme is based in the West End Car Park on the waterfront in Fort William. If you haven't been …

I presume Michael Brown didn't competete yesterday in America, hence incurring a score of 150 marks (hey I could do that and score WTC Points ), wonder if the injury will be mended enough to start next Monday. He has got to be in with a chance of lifting the trophy so here's to a speedy recovery

Despite watching/riding the SSDT most years since 1985 we've never been to watch the pre 65 so this year we're going up earlier. Can anyone advise on what sections to go to and what the route is or has it not been published yet? Apologies if this has already been discussed but can't find it if it has. Thanks

Just been listening to the news re the shutting down of Scotlands petro chemical plant, and apparently people are panic buying, some forecourts are empty of fuel Will this have any direct affect on the SSDT?
