USA Trials

He was doing well up to a couple of years ago riding the Senior Class.....what ever happened to him?

Our club has historically ridden and scored our events in class groups. I personally don't think it's the best option for a number of reasons, but it's what we do. We've toyed with riding observed, but like everyone else it's tough to get all day observers, and few guys will drive 3-4 hours to get to an event just to score and not be able to ride, even for club points. We've split the day some too, with half the classes riding in the morning, while the other half score, then reversing it in the afternoon. I wonder if there are any other options the clubs are doing that work well?

Anyone want to look after a visiting couple of brits, who would like to ride trials while over the pond. would need a bike lol.......

I know this is a loaded question but I am trying to make a decision on what to go with for a good protection helment. I currently have an older MX style full face but the visor gets in the way of looking down the trail or section so I can only see about 10 or 15 feet in front of me. Taking the visor off helps but it is heavier that the half helments and open face that I see guys using. I tried an older style Bell RT but the design inteferes with the back of my neck and pushes the helment forward into my field of vision when standing and looking down the trail even without the visor. The NATC held their annual meeting over the weekend. Among the highlights at the meeting was a decision to use the term 'MotoTrial' instead of the phrase 'Observed Trials' for the sport. Got out midmorning today,cut two new sections in at my practice area,up to 17 or 18 sections now,will be cutting many more over the winter, then unloaded the gasser for some playtime.was doing my turns well but couldn't climb the rocks worth a crap due to the wet moss on them. One of my buddies was out there breaking in his brand new KTM 300 He was following me while we scouted for places to cut new routes in our hare Scramble loop(practice area is 100 acres that belongs to a co-worker of mine) Then we took off around the loop and I think I impressed him on how fast you can actually trail ride a modern trials bike. For the last 3 years I have been doing my best to ride other clubs events. On top of meeting a bunch of great people it has given me a chance to observe the trends past NYS. Not to my surprise, or anyone else Im thinking, attendance is dropping in a big way. Now with a substantial bump in AMA insurance and less riders to cover costs I have to wonder where our sport stands... How much is too much to pay for a local event? We can all just raise membership costs and event prices but Im worried that will turn Dad and his 2 kids away. If it costs him 100 bucks in entry fees maybe little league is looking a lot better. Many times, we are all just like politicians. We gripe a lot about things without really coming up with solutions, or being willing to try things to see if they might actually work because they are new or outside our comfort zone. I have been thinking about this for awhile now and decided it was time to throw it out there as guys like AMiller are starting to look at Gate Trials too, so I decided it would be better to begin a new thread than hijack the others. The MTR Trials club is hosting a Ryan Young Trials School in North Carolina on 26 and 27 February 2011. The location will be Morganton, NC at Powersports Productions "Moto-Land". We have an alternate location in Shelby, NC if the weather is too nasty in the foothills. Cost is $150.00 per person.

AHRMA Vintage Trials - October 2nd and 3rd Trials Training Center, Sequatchie, TN Sections designed for vintage bikes but are acceptable for twin-shock and modern bike support riders. In addition to the AHRMA classes, a support class will be available for twin-shock and modern support riders. No championship sections will be available but all trials riders are welcome to attend. AHRMA no-stop rules apply to all classes. Sign-up: Saturday @9:00 a.m.; Sunday @8:30 a.m.

I am somewhat disappointed to see the RMTA is using age to determine the winner of the UTE Cup. I read the Article (in T.C. newspaper)and understand their reasoning, but believe it is wrong. Would it not be possible to incorporate a couple of very difficult sections in the Trial to possibly separate the top riders. Such a Classic event should be scored equally among the entry, at least for the top award.

We've all seen Malcom Smith race in the movie and we saw the trials footage as well. Well now his son, Alexander, is continuing the motorcycling legend's ways by racing events like Red Bull's Romaniacs and yesterday he asked me to help him find a good used Montesa.
