Hi, A friend and I are taking the week from Dec 21 through Dec 28 off to go riding and will be putting our bikes on a trailer, leaving from Minnesota (BRRR) heading south to a more comfortable location. We have plans to go to the TTC in TN. Not knowing what the weather will be in advance and TTC's cancellation policy, I am looking for back up plans to go riding. We may have to scratch our TTC plans to keep some flexibility for winter travel (really sucks trying to plan anything in Minnesota in December). I was really looking forward to getting some instruction as I have not ridden a trials bike since about 1978 (the Sherco 2.9 I just purchased will either delight …

Ok, After reading all the great posts in the topics about how to save our sport in the U.S., it looks to me that three main obtsacles have emerged. #1 The economy, which we have no control over. #2 Distance. Not much that we can do about that either Heck, Utah alone is 1.5 times the size of England, 89,000 sq miles, compared to 50,000 sq miles. As far as I know, there is not another Trials rider within 100 miles of where I am sitting in my kitchen. So, if a rider is going to make that 3-4 hour one way drive to get to an event, how do we ensure (as much as humanly possible) that he has a good enough time to want to go to the next one? #3 Section difficulty. T…

Many times, we are all just like politicians. We gripe a lot about things without really coming up with solutions, or being willing to try things to see if they might actually work because they are new or outside our comfort zone. I have been thinking about this for awhile now and decided it was time to throw it out there as guys like AMiller are starting to look at Gate Trials too, so I decided it would be better to begin a new thread than hijack the others. This is long, and I apologize for that, but I felt it needed detailed explanation to make my argument. So here it is. Since 1990 I’ve been in our club presidency more times than you can count on your fingers. …

For the last 3 years I have been doing my best to ride other clubs events. On top of meeting a bunch of great people it has given me a chance to observe the trends past NYS. Not to my surprise, or anyone else Im thinking, attendance is dropping in a big way. Now with a substantial bump in AMA insurance and less riders to cover costs I have to wonder where our sport stands... How much is too much to pay for a local event? We can all just raise membership costs and event prices but Im worried that will turn Dad and his 2 kids away. If it costs him 100 bucks in entry fees maybe little league is looking a lot better. Cant afford to turn away any youth. In all the places I ri…

Well, the schedule is posted! Not bad as long as you are not coming from Cali! Best 5 of 7 , so you only have to make two trips really, yet TTC is a Must! Should be good and hot by then as well! AMA

The NATC held their annual meeting over the weekend. Among the highlights at the meeting was a decision to use the term 'MotoTrial' instead of the phrase 'Observed Trials' for the sport. They just emailed a press release, available here: http://trialstrainingcenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/2011-1-NATC-PR-MotoTrial-promo.pdf

The MTR Trials club is hosting a Ryan Young Trials School in North Carolina on 26 and 27 February 2011. The location will be Morganton, NC at Powersports Productions "Moto-Land". We have an alternate location in Shelby, NC if the weather is too nasty in the foothills. Cost is $150.00 per person.

I am somewhat disappointed to see the RMTA is using age to determine the winner of the UTE Cup. I read the Article (in T.C. newspaper)and understand their reasoning, but believe it is wrong. Would it not be possible to incorporate a couple of very difficult sections in the Trial to possibly separate the top riders. Such a Classic event should be scored equally among the entry, at least for the top award.

I would like to suggest a topic for the upcoming NATC Meeting. Term Limits. How about after attending the meeting for 3 or 4 years....your OUT. Or perhaps you could still attend but only as a spectator. I am sure this will offend some of the older members, but this is a progressive sport.....not a historical society. I hope this doesn't offend anyone.

Just watched the MAV Coverage of the E. Coast Rounds. Excellent coverage but where were all the spectators? I've seen more at most local Trials.

The fact that Cody won this year is a bit of an emotional topic, to myself and possibly others that have followed him through the years. I am not quite sure what happened, but Cody found himself, aside from all other goings on. And I do not think anyone would deny that, and still all the others on the long history of the Sherco side are proud as well. All point being, have a bit of fun, but stick with the schoolwork! It basically sucks! But stick to the stuff and do not let yourself be distracted from your future! The real challenges begin! Kip, can you hire a Math and Physics Tutor that can ride and double as a minder? Grinding him on gradients, angles and force vect…

Last Saturday's EnduroCross event was ruled by Trial guys. Of course Taddy was untouchable as always. Geoff Aaron had a mishap early, but climbed back to second in the main event. Cody had a very solid day....he finished second in his heat and made it up to fourth in the main. Commo was having an incredible heat holding onto second...almost appearing to be riding over his head....and then went over his head (literally!)...I assume he was too sore to come back to the semis. Local Trials Rider Josh Nutsch won the TrialsCross event. It was a great night.
