How much does a new piston cost in the states?

U.S. National Riders: You still have time to fill out and send back the 2005 Rider poll. 1997 was last time we had a 50% turn out, 2004 we had a poor 35% return. I have received 74 forms returned so far. (about 31%) Even if you rode only a few Nationals your feed back is wanted, take a few minutes and fill it out, and of cource mail it. Trials riders beware, EnduroCross isn't as easy as it looks. Just ask the 1/2 dozen or so that showed up this weekend to give it a go. Keith Wineland (ERE/Montesa) made it to the main and finished 4th. Keith was again our top class trials rider, showing the EnduroCross world he's a player to be reconded with. Nick (Sherco) was trying his best, but last nights track didn't suit his style. Phillip (Sherco) and Colton Haaker were railing and each missed the main event by one place. Phil just missed a main show entry in his first heat race, placing third in his first heat race - and Colton, well, Colton could be a future star once he controls his abundant amount of energy.…

Stewie's got new toys to play with, Got to try both. The Vertigo is more abrupt and handles in a way that I think will reward the more physical rider. It wants to go up big things and seems really quick to want to lay over and change direction once the decision is made. The TRS is stable as a concrete block. At any point I stopped and balanced it just patiently waited until I made up my mind. It also has a lovely soft grunt to it. For me the TRS would be the bike of choice. Two of America's best in trials is up for the American Motorcyclist Association awards. Both have contributed in trials growth for the United States. Congratulations, Geoff and Shan. It's a shame they left Louise Forsley off this list, Louise is The AMA Youth Sports Athlete of the year in my book. Why hasn't trials caught on as a popular known sport in the u.s ? I,m from England originally and have lived quite a few years in Spain, where trials is like a national sport. Competitions are televised on national tv and events are everywhere. I am confused at why it hasnt caught on over here , where other spectator sports such as supercross are so big. Is it because of names like Jordi Tarres in Spain, or lampkin in England ? Armstrong made cycling in the U.S very popular ,after winning the Tour 7 times. Everyone was out buying a road bike. To see an indoor trials competition is amazing and well worth the ticket prices. Can anyone explain why someone isnt out there …

As a new participant in vintage trials events, I have really caught a bug. I truly look forward to upcoming events as a kid would look forward to Christmas. As my thirst for riding trials grows, I look for more events (within a reasonable driving distance). I have been interested in making it out to some AHRMA events but was alarmed to hear that AMA and AHRMA may be at odds. Has anyone else heard this or are the conspiricists pulling my leg? If AMA was to split, would AHRMA lose it's insurance (which is why I pay my AMA membership)?

Has any clubs in the US tried to run a bicycle trials along with a moto event, or is it a insurance mess?

Is it just me or is anybody else insulted by the AMA membership application saying "observed trails". Dan

The Border War of 05 is just around the corner. 30 April and 1 May 05. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there. I've just bought my first trials bike after riding misc dirt bikes for the last 25+ years. I got a 315r. I am wondering what is the best way to learn, are there good training videos recomended and who sells them? I live in willamette valley area of Oregon and don't know of any groups that are active. I have some very technical hilly area with various size logs down to climb over and a few pallets to jump over in my back yard which has been fun and I think a good start. I was kinda chicken to try the 1 1/2 ' logs but when I did it was no problem the bike whet right over, so soon be ready for more challenge. thanks for your input, Bruce

Well the big news last week was that RYP had taken on Montesa as importer, it was even even published on the US Montesa website as I understand. Perhaps prematurely as I just looked at the site, seems they still have stock from '05 yet unsold and new imports are, well? No mention of RYP, guess it did not happen, shame. I like to have a look round other peoples homepages from time to time. I was looking through your results and I noticed that your scoring seems to be in the format 5/0 for each lap. How does this work? Presumably the first mark is actual marks lost, but I couldn't work out the second digit. I would like to suggest a topic for the upcoming NATC Meeting. Term Limits. How about after attending the meeting for 3 or 4 years....your OUT. Or perhaps you could still attend but only as a spectator. I am sure this will offend some of the older members, but this is a progressive sport.....not a historical society. I hope this doesn't offend anyone.
