- Honda 1976 TL250 Trials - new clutch? I've had the bike a few years, but ridden it very little. It came with piston slap, valve problems and other issues. Enough so that power is pretty weak. So I'm overhauling the engine. But because I've ridden it so little I'm not sure about the clutch. Mostly likely I'll just replace it. (The clutch pack was sticking when I purchased the bike). I'd like to hear from an TL250 owner. Seems to me (as the bike is geared so low) that with the clutch out, and enough throttle the front wheel ought to come right off the ground. Sound about right? Thanks, Dobbin22

Yesterday I entered my first trial since 1982 when I was fifteen (if you can't be bothered to do the maths it means I'm 45) It was the S(unthorpe MCC';s Betts Cup Trial held at Manton Quarry. I was a nervous wreck at the start of the trial but managed to hook up with two great blokes who were both on BSA Pre-65's and were riding the white route; I think they both cleaned section 1 which was a fairly steep drop down to a right turn, over a small hillock then up a steep climb with a sharp right turn at the top. My Fantic 200 stalled just as I crested the climb and I had my first 5 on section 1. This was followed by another 5 on section 2 as my too fast approach to the ini…

Im having trouble starting the old cub,she seems as if the piston is pressurising up in the bore and then the kickstart seems to get a spongy feel to it, it almost feels like its hydraulicly locking, could it be that the tappets are too tight, causeing it to sort of seize up If i pull the plug and kick it over it kicks over no problem, piston runs up and down smoothly. what am i missing can any one help regards Dan

Hi Guys, i'm hoping someone might be able to help with a problem i'm having. I'm assembling a cub that i brought in (many) parts. I've had the crank rebuilt, cylinder re bored and I'm fitting a new piston. I've just reassembled the top end and found that when i turn the engine over it's getting stuck fast at tdc (or thereabouts). I've taken the head off and removed the pushrods. Then put the head back on (minus pushrods) - still fouling! removed the head and (at the point i met resistance) and piston is approximately 1mm above the top of the barrel. If i continue to turn the engine over (from when i met resistance) and with the head removed it travels another 2mm…

G'day folks from Brisbane Australia I'm riding in the Manx Classic in the IoM this September on a Cub and the thing I worry about most is getting a puncture and fixing it in the best and quickest way possible so I thought I would ask for some advice here. Besides carrying all the tyre levers and spare tube around for two days is there a kit you can recommend that will hold a low pressure tube around the sections and tracks of the IoM for two days (worst case scenario). Please be specific, whats it called and where do I get one and what is the cost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this is my last attempt at the Manx as I am now 72 and I really…

Hello, Does anyone know of this event in April and where i can getta hold of the regs and a contact telephone number? I've done a search on Google and came across this: http://www.ndmc.org.uk/Events/Exmoor/2009/...rial%202009.pdf. However these regs mention cars and motorcycles. I've a contact name of Bill Hartnell but i'm not sure if i've the correct number because no one answer the phone. So can anyone help, or just point me in the right direction? Many thanks, Cliff

Its with great sadness I have to report that John sadly passed away on Sunday following a stroke the previous day. A great supporter of trials in the EASTERN centre and classic trials up and down the country and sometimes across the channel.. A good friend always on the end of the phone to offer advice and will be sadly missed, with always an opinion on what ever subject........not only trials. RIP

Hi, I'm doing a bit of research & I need results for some of the major trials events of the mid-late 60s. I've found the winners of these events easily enough on the net, but I'm looking for placings 2nd to 5th if possible, or at least 2nd & 3rd. I'll start with the European championship of 65, 67 & 69 (or its fore-runner the Henry Grouters Trophy). Can anyone please help me with who filled the placings & what they rode? Or direct me to a website that would tell me? Thanks for any help
