Was out marking sections for next weeks Ladies round today when the subject of next years A/B championship came around, and how living on an Island makes traveling to these event more expensive and time consuming than other competitors. For example last weekend my van clocked up 639 miles going to Scarbrough and back, they left there at 5pm after the trial, 7 hours later they only just got the midnight ferry arriving home about 2am in the morning, both lads were knackered and missed school on monday. I have just received an e mail from the local ACU East Midlands Secretary and i just had to respond. I have included my reply but i would be very interrested in others reactions? I have removed the e mail addresses by the way. Peter i will probably not be able to attend the AGM due to prior work commitments however i feel i must protest the proposals as i feel they are probably some of the daftist ones i have heard for a long time, believe me i have heard some daft ones in my time. 1. Could someone please give me an explanation on 'what marks the competitor would loose' in the following situation: The trial was being run under TSR22a method of marking rules. A competitor entered the section and halfway through slipped into a deep rut with his front wheel. He landed with the majority of his right leg on the ground. His legs were still astride the machine. The handlebar touched the ground. He was able to push himself up without taking his hands of the handlebars and continued to ride the section to the end cards. As an observer what mark would you have given him and give an explanation why/how you came to the decision.

I notice that Guisborough have been given the date of 25-07-10 for the John Hardaker Trial. This date clashes with the Reeth 3 Day weekend, as I guess both Trials will be directed at the same riders somebody somewhere is going to loose out.

Never worked or found out how this works and how you get upgraded? never know what to put on the entry list Inter or Expert? may even still be a novice for all I know. Can anyone post how it works - how you get upgraded - and who upgrades you Ta

I've checked the ACU site and I've probably missed it completely but does anyone know how to report an injury during a trial? Do I just inform the club that its actually worse than it appeared at the trial or contact the ACU direct? Cheers

Issues relating to the British Solo Trials Championship will be discussed at a separate forum at a later date. hey folks, Gunna be joining in at my first trial on sunday, I have downloaded and printed entry forms but not sure how to make the payment, Can i send a cheque and who do i make it payable to?? Also, How do i know what route and class to choose if i have never done a trial, Im thinking intermediate because i have been told novice is too easy! Is this tru?

The ACU have updated the website, however on the old one you could see the upto date Trials Championship tables i.e. BTC, Novagar, Traditional etc. I can no longer find them, nor the list of rounds. Is it me? Anyone point me in the right direction.

So it seems that the ACU have decided to change the rules in 22A and a stop is now allowed without penalty (thats how I read it anyway), The only stipulation now is "No backward movement". What is the general view of this change. Personally I would have preferred it before the change. I am now trying to workout the difference between 22A & 22B.

Just a couple of questions regarding this years solo championship, maybe John Collins or someone else at the ACU could answer. I make no excuse for asking these questions, my son wishes to ride in Expert A but has been given a very low priority in Expert B. 1) Why is there a need to split the classes? 2) Why have such a limited entry for Expert A? 3) Why did the entry rules change at the end of the season? 4) How did the ACU T&E Committee prioritise Expert B? 5) Isn't this going to stifle the development of our younger riders moving into the adult class? ps. Just thought I'd bring this up here as I have never seen this happen before. The Second round of the A & B Nationals was held at Bracken Rocks under the Mansfield Maun club a couple of weeks ago. It seems that EMRA are intending to use Bracken for the fourth round in May. I haven't seen this before and wondered why it was happening??

What a pleasant suprise to find the new look ACU SportMoto magazine waiting in the letter box today. The new size and the superbly written articles combine to make a magazine that really is worth having. I have to admit that I was not a fan of the old magazine and considered it to be a waste of licence/affiliation payers money, but this is good. Well done ACU. I am the Membeship Secretary for the Stratford-Upon-Avon club and one of our members has recently had a problem with his affiliation renewal and I thought that I'd maybe jog some memories It turns out that; through a genuine mistake (not the riders!) his application form wasn't processed by the ACU as it had not been signed by a club. I've recently heard, from two seperate sources, that the definition of a section boundary is no longer what it was. For ease of example I'll take a single route section, marked with blue on the left, red on the right markers. In the good old days, the blue designated the left hand boundary of the section and the red the right hand boundary. By definition, this meant that the boundary was the invisible straight line between each blue marker on the left, and each red marker on the right.
