Hi the project is started. I'd like to reline the shoes on my 80 tl 320, does anyone know the appox orginal lining thickness? We relign shoes all the time on old cars that are hard to find stuff for, plus we can get various compounds and real fast turn around from the shop we use. Price is good as well and no shipping....lol.....thanks

hi there folks. first post from myself. I will introduce myself immediately in the usual "presentations" post. I have years of motorbikes experiences mostly thumpers. I would love one of these SWM or a Yama TY or (suggestions) as a registered light trail bike and fun bike for beginners trials. how is parts availability ? reliability ? fun factor ? easyness of living with ? what else should I consider ? thanks

The Rubber connector from the carb to the disc valve inlet manifold has split on my TL320 Does anybody now a fix or where a new one can be purchased

Was wondering about any variations in SWM TL320s regarding the fitment of decompression devices. My Australian 1982 model has one fitted and another I'm buying does not. In the 1982 Australasian Dirt Bike magazine it has one fitted. And the 1980 or 81 model article in Trail and Track [now defunct] has it fitted as well. Also anybody got some ideas on where to source pistons and ring kits for the 280 cc?

Hi guys i have an oil capacity in my users manual (US market I believe) but no oil weight, any recomendations? Do these zokes respond to differing air gaps? ....just a thought, I'm assuming these are damper rod forks being this old? As usual any help welcome

A real noddy question I know but can someone tell me how to remove the condensor on my 1982 SWM 320? It looks like it is the original so has never been removed and it won't budge. I just can't see how it comes out of the mounting plate. Thanks Chris

I have got SWM 280TL which runs OK for about an hour then fouls or buns out the plug. If I change the plug it then runs OK again. I am using a BP5ES plug. Any advice or possible cure would be great. JGM

All seems fine operation-wise but has some grooved shoes that seem to get mixed reviews....anyone carre to comment on their use in SWM's. I've deglazed the shoes and the hub but no better.

Hi all, I have the following problem. I need 3 x new shocks for 2 x TL320´´s and a 350 Jumbo. I thought they were all 340 mm but Inmotion say they should be 360 mm ? On swm-moto.org data sheet it says 340 mm for all mod. I can remember Martin telling me 340 mm also. I then measured some of my old ones and found that a very early TL320 "Gunaco" I have (which has the old red shocks with the external resevoir on it) are 360 mm. On a 1981 TL320 (which has Marzochi units) they are 340 mm ???

Just back from a trial down in deepest France and was really impressed with an Swm out after having a make over. Was interested to learn that the headstock had been moved... swingarm lenthened and exhaust had been breathed over. Was really impressed with the way that it went I was told it was a 1982 280. Are these really an undervalued .., but overllooked alternative in the competative twinshock trials market. Don t know as in many cases, whether the above mods are really worth the hassle and cost and at the end of the day the bike still has to be ridden but I was very impressed with the way it went , I might even be tempted or are they an aquired taste....... Hi, can anyone confirm the ignition settings I have found: 2,8 mm before TDC (or 21° ??) points gap 0,45 mm plug gap 0,25 mm If anone has more details I´´ll be glad.

Having recently made a typical barn find, a ´81 TL320, the need for magnesium repair is very obvious. I have done it before and I have the equipment, but when looking at the transmission case I and other parts, I still hesitate. This is not the best castings I have seen and after a long life soaked in oil, it will take some hours of cleaning, blasting, degreasing, grinding and so on before I even order the rods and take my TIG welder out. For example, state of the damage on the transmission side include sveral cracks, holes and worn out threads to deal with, previously "fixed" with bad epoxy and thick paint several years ago, making the welding a process in several steps …

Hello, I would like to know if the rear shocks are suppose to be 14 inches long? Also, are they suppose to be mounted in the front mounting hole or the rear. There are two holes for mounting and my shocks which are 14 1/8 inches long are mounted in the rear position. Thanks, Scott

I'm refurbishing a Jumbo 350 and could use a little assistance. The seat was a real mess, repaired poorly with fiberglass and attached to the body work with bits of scrap metal and rivets. I've torn it down to what's left of the original seat and have a plan for reconstructing the base and foam. I'd like to use original style attachment but have no idea what that was. I'd much appreciate it if someone with a Jumbo could shoot me some pics of the seat and side panel attachment configuration. Here's what I have now. Thanks Wayne
