I am getting close finishing the rebuild of my TL320 and have just found out that the coil is no good. After a quick look through the net the only prices that I could find were way too expensive, does anyone know if coils from any other bikes will do the same job. TY coils are less than

Was at a trial yesterday and a very kind person gave me a tip. He said that if I turned the front brake arm so that it was pointing forwards that it would work better. He then tried to explain that if the top shoe grips before the bottom shoe the brake works better. All I want to know is he talking p***

Has anyone tried removing the perforated tube inside the midbox to make it more like an expansion chamber? With the perforated tube in place it seems that the midbox is really just a muffler. A straight section of pipe would have virtually the same effect performance wise it would seem ,although the exhaust note would be a bit louder(but the bike 2.4lbs.lighter). I am considering combining a gutted midbox and a MX type rear silencer or custom aluminum replica SWM rear box to improve power( and save about 5lbs). I am familiar with making changes to the exhaust systems on piston port engines , but less informed on rotory valve engines, so I am not really sure if this would …

whilst competing sunday, on 2 separate occasions i had a nasty sounding noise from the gearbox.i sounds like a gear is trying to mesh with the one that is already in use. gear selection is fine. chain and sprockets are fine,ie not loose. was not kickstart being held back onto ratchet. obviously got to be opened up, am just after any clues once inside. thanks.

1980 320TL std: Typical having a great trial yesterday dropping but 4 on two rounds and on the 1st section of the last lap, just entering the section bike stops dead, as if I'd pulled the lanyard off....she had lost her spark After the lunchbreak when I started her she was running a bit rough, almost 4 stroking, turned her off, restarted and she was fine. Also the last few times I've jet washed her down she ran a little rough until I WD-40'd the ht lead...hmmm that was going thru my head as I started sweated cobs kicking her over. Did a few checks on the section before pushing her back in embarrassment... plug OK, points opening, took lead off cap and earthed, still n…

Hey all. I am trying to free a stick Kickstarter. Martin linked a video for me of how to set it up. But do I need to split the cases to get to it? or just remove clutch and gears? Let me know if you know !

Does anyone know whether the Rotax motor has a 'stop' on the kickstart mechanism? Mine is the Jumbo but I believe it's the same as the 240/280 motors. Problem has occured in that the kickstart travel/rotation is long and on full swing the knuckle of the kickestart has gone round and punched a hole in the casing. I can't see how to stop this happening. It's never happened before but it's happening now. I've looked at the parts diagram and had the kickstart ratchet and spring out but can't see that there is anything to stop the kickstart shaft continuing to rotate until the kickstart hits the casing. There is no way I can kick it gently enough to shorten the swing to prev…

Can an old engine develop more power ? I put a new to me Rotax 240 engine into a SWM several months ago, it ran OK. I haven't changed the timing or carb, but have repacked the middle box and changed the back box. The increase in power wasn't instant, just a gradual improvement. The previous exhaust wasn't full of oil etc. One suggestion is the disc valve is sealing better ? Any thoughts or am I just imagining it ?

Well, Speedy has gone off to pastures new. I'd like to thank all on here whom have helped in the past when I've had queries or needed helped, when I was but a rookie SWM owner and not the Uber Anorak Owner I later became. Martin at Moto SWM needs thanking too, like Dave at BikeTech GasGas it's great when someones business is also their passion. Honestly getting parts was far easier than for my late Yamaha WRF's I've owned....chatting with some bored and spotty 16 year, who grunts when distracted from the smartphone is not a fantastic experience I'd like to share. cheers guys, all the best

I have a set of OZO shocks on my SWM TL320. They aren’t leaking oil but are very springy/bouncy. They have shrader valves can i fill them with air? If so how much? I know you’re supposed to fill with nitrogen but I have a trials this weekend and no way to get that done right now. But the air would be temporary. Thanks

Would anyone be able to identify a Bombardier engine by it's serial number? I'm trying to identify a Bombardier engine that I was told came from a CanAm motorcycle. Its serial number is 75242. I've struck out in my web search. I wasn't sure where to post this query, but decided this forum might be the best because of the SWM/Bombardier connection. Thanks!

Hi all,new to this site and hope somebody can help. have a 1981/82 swm 240 whose spark keeps disappearing, have done the usual points condenser and stator coil behind flywheel, ignition coil and all associated wiring replaced with new items. the engine has had a few mods ported ,bored to 280cc barrel jacked and squish band altered to suit.flywheel skimmed as well so i am wondering if this is where the problem lies, if it is loosing its magnetism. has any one else had this problem? noted somebody has fitted an electronic ignition system to there swm(in this forum)does anybody have any more info on this?? also is the aprilia climber rotax engine electronic ignition…

If you cut a SWM back box vertically and long ways, the bit nearest the wheel is a series of baffles. The outside doesn't appear to be connected at all, whats that all about, eh ?

I got tired of waiting for replies from a couple of sources for trials electronics and was surprised to see a mail in my inbox after almost no waiting at all. The guys at Powerdynamo in Berlin are of a different kind, both answering mails and getting things done (!). After sending my old parts to them, I got a nice, big box a couple of weeks later, old parts in return and a new system for my bike. I run a simple battery total loss set-up for lights when needed, so my new system is ignition only. If you are interested, the system is now listed among Powerdynamo's other products, so you don't have to bother sending anything to Berlin (if you need power for your lights …

HI can anyone tell me where to position the disc valve in relation to TDC or BDC on a 1980 tl320. I cant see any marks on the engine and as I received the engine in several boxes I am in the dark. I think that the disc should start opening just as the crank goes past BDC but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
