took the flywheel off today and found this. It runs fine, anything to watch out for ???? also where can I get a puller for it from. Tried local bike shop, nothing. Thought size was around 32mm 1.5 maybe. Had starting problems after washing the bike. can see the flywheel past the warped plastic cover. Fly wheel off and clean up water. Still wouldn't run. checked and no spark. Lots of head scratching, power seem ok from coil. Faulty stop switch was the problem. whitehillbilly

For what it's worth, this is what the inside of a Coach silencer looks like. I had to open both sides in order to get it cleaned up. Upon first inspection after opening, none of the perforations were visible. What a PITA to clean up. Also of note, there are some sort of baffles in the interior of the perforated section. I'm hoping that the clean up and repacking will be worth the effort

Hi guys, I'm having an issue with my front brake on my Fantic 200.Stops well enough, but the leaver doesn't return correctly.I think the cam is going round too far.The shoes have 4.5-5mm of lining left,so didn't think they was worn out.Got a wear lip of about 1mm on the drum lining.Looking at the angle of the leaver,I'm having to adjust too much slack out of it.Do i need over size linings? wouldn't have thought new stock linings would help much.Anyone notice any thing setup wrong.

What are peoples opinions of Newfren and EBC brake shoes particularly on the front. These are the only two that do shoes for the Fantic I believe, I'm looking for a front shoe where I can lock the front wheel. At the moment the new EBC's I've fitted are good in the rear but not so good in the front.

As above, what gives them this distinctive sound when in motion, is it the way the gears are cut? as I'm led to believe. I remember them sounding different back in the '80s but especially liking it now that I've finally got my own. What other old trials bikes had that distinctive whine, SWM may be? I can't remember for sure. I like it, and it's not from an old worn out motor either!

Aaaaaghhh!!!!!! Ok, I have completed the restoration of my 241 Progress and I'm over the moon at the results, it's lovely even if I say so myself. There is however one niggling issue which, try as I might, I simply can't solve. This bike has the 1986 only weird "semi-hydraulic" set-up on the front brake where a cable pull at the handlebar is transformed into a hydraulic action at a remote master cylinder behind the extended front number board. I'm aware that this is often criticised but I really want the bike to be as original as possible. I am having a nightmare trying to bleed the brake up. It did work if a bit weakly when I picked up the bike from Telford. I …

What are the 301 / 241 & 201 tanks made from? I've searched on here for info on painting them and found a post which says that these tanks don't allow petrol "vapour" (?) to breathe through but I've had stickers bubble up on these tanks before. I have a 241 with a very rough tank that needs painting - what's the best way to do this without spending fortunes? I was going to sand down, wet or dry it, maybe use some sort of sealant and then paint with normal spray paint and apply a petrol resistant lacquer. I'm not sure what these tanks are made of and some of the sealant products say not to use with fibreglass. It's all very confusing!

Hi guys, I have purchased a spare used barrel, head and piston for my fantic. The bore has a small score in it and I was wondering if it would be a big problem? If it will be do you know how much it would be to get repaired? It will be nice to have a spare as no doubt they will become harder to get over time. Cheers. Tom.

Hi Guys, Just purchased some rock shocks which look awesome, however they have come with a 350mm centre to centre length. The original shocks seem to be approximately 335mm, does anyone have rock shocks on their 200 that they could measure for me? Thanks in advance tjp

Hi all, Just got myself a lovely little fantic 200 (rear kick). It is very original and I'm considering moving the footpegs. Can anyone recommend an engineer/fabricator/welder, preferably in the southwest of England to carry out said work? For you guys and girls that have tried these great little bike with both original and relocated pegs, how do you find the difference? Is it an essential mod? Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions tjp

I'm restoring a 241 Progress 2 and have bought a gasket kit from InMotion. There appeared to be 2 base gaskets in the kit (although they were very slightly different shapes) should I have used both? I have just used one base gasket and tightened up the head bolts but now I'm worried that I should have used both for the extra squish. Anyone know the answer?
