Only problem was i suffered major arm pump within the first half hour which meant i kept having to stop to rest and have ten minutes before i attempted any rocks or big banks. In this video clip Cobos is doing a fab' little flick at the top of the hill. I remember Cobos has had knee problems in the past(like me) so I reckon with the correct technique I might be able to give this a try(ambitious, I know!). Anyhow..what i need to know is :- what is he doing to the bike to make it do that? I mean, clutch?timing?body weighting?peg loading? I realize there are many factors here which have to come together and I'm asking a lot to have anyone explain it all in words but any tips would be appreciated. I've attempted (pitifully) this technique before and the stress on my knees was unbearable. Cheers, Wayne

This is something I looked for when I was starting to learn zaps - I couldn't find anything. So now I can make some approximation of a zap I thought I'd have a go at syncing a closeup of the clutch with video of the maneuver. I'm no expert, that's for sure, but I think this gives some idea of when the clutch pop occurs. When I started I think I was always too early popping the clutch and the wheel just drove forward without getting much lift. Still lots to work on, watching this video has already given me a couple of things I want to try to correct. Timing is the hardest thing to get just right I find - it's not so hard to get the movements kind of working but i…

I'm looking to set up a section for home pratice and wonder if anyone has any pictures of what they use? I have a good supply of pallets I can use and am trying different configurations. With the price of fuel home pratice may become the wave of the future.

I'm on the look out for a DVD containing a few pointers on what I should be doing when riding. I've tracked down a few useful websites but I'm after something with a bit more content & tips to help me improve. I've been riding about a year, so I'm trying to make the step up from beginner. I've seen the Ryan Young DVD advertised; but at

I would love to join a trials class, but cant due to time, so im stuck learning on my own. as of now, im just somewhat trail riding and learning to get over somewhat technical ledges about 1ft high, slow riding, and just trying to static balance. I am hoping someone can somewhat guide me on what order I should do things. I met someone and they told me, just find a playground for now with small ledges, climbs, etc and ride over them slowly, get over them slowly. Try Static balance at the start, just a little before the obstacle and try getting over it, then slowly pick more technical lines. So i combined this list to see if anyone can offer some advice and this is t…

Hello everybody. I ride about 6 months and get some skills in splatters, jap zaps and rear/front wheelie, but i still have problems in positioning myself on bike while doing that. Problem is in my foot and rear brake pedal. I dont know how is right, but i often hold my toe near pedal not above it and when i bend knees before jump i have more movement of my toes. But!.. When i need to use rear brakes i do not have my toe on the pedal cause cant instantly react in a split second and put it on the pedal, so im making dubs or rear wheel becomes front wheel with bike upside down Not cool! Do i need hold my foot while jumping on the pedal or what? Im just exhausted already…

Hey, All!!! I've got kind of a weird question here. It involves my crummy attempts at riding along 8" wide railroad ties that I've used to make crude landscaping steps with. I decided to try riding up & down them this weekend. Having a tough time getting up the steps cleanly. Going down the steps seems to be a little better. It seems to be easier for me to focus on the end/"where I want to go" while riding down rather than up. As I begin to go up the steps, there's a point (you can see it in the video, at about the 5 second point in it....) where both tires are more or less climbing and getting bumped around at the same time, typically followed by a dab shortly after…

Hello again and thank you all for your replies Okay firstly it's takes a bit getting used to riding with one finger always on the clutch lever which means I tend to crush the remaining Fingers around the grip when pulling in on the lever , and wondering how much slippage I should have when clutch lever is fully pulled in and touching fingers on the grip With most motorcycle you want no slippage with the clutch when fully released but with trials you are riding most times with slippage ,so should I be able to select neutral with fingers on grip or should it only be possible when I remove fingers and pull lever all the way until it hits the grip, and shoul…

Hi guys, I'm trying to improve my balance and finding it harder with the straight steer I think it is the most proficient way to improve it. I'm able to balance with the bike off with no hands but I find hard to ride on top of a 20 cm wide straight kerb. Any tips to get there? Ta

When a rider needs to front or rear wheel hop, is there any time that a bunny hop is a better option? Meaning you're hopping the whole bike toward a more advantageous spot vs just front or rear wheel moving?

Just sharing something that has helped me incredibly much over roughly the past year. I'm just a happy user. Neil Price is an Australian Expert level rider, 18 times West Aust. champion, 2x Aust Champ, has competed in Europe and World rounds and all round nice fella. He has been coaching trials for decades and is a real thinker - always considering the detail that makes things work. A year or so ago Neil started a Facebook online coaching group which proved the concept had wings. Six months ago (+/-) he launched a dedicated online platform - quite similar to most social media platforms - Feed, Chat, Likes, Comments, Notifications, Hashtags etc. but also "groups"…

Hi guys I was playing on my tires today and realised that a J Zap needs a little runup to get right so I watched a vid I had of Brent le riche that I took with my phone at the last trial and analysed what he was doing. He wacked the throttle, loaded the suspension and then aggressively unweighted and dumped the clutch. Im kind of getting it right just not as graceful as Brent. It works and if I could balance like he does, I would need almost no runup. I need to lean back a bit more and try to hold preasure on the bars. Does this technique have a name? Its not a jzap or double blip, I know that much. Ps: excuse the zippy shorts and no shirt but its dam hot here at mid d…
